Actually, it will start in the middle of January and then go for 4-6 weeks. This gives it time for the snow to fly and to gather up enough firewood!

This is the second childrens group read for December.

This is the childrens group read for December.

Last chance to vote on the poll, I'll shut it down on December 1st. Looks like
Anna Karenina is leading.

I picked up my copy also, but I have decided to wait until December 1st to start. I can't wait! My family watched Scrooged last night, my kids love the 2nd ghost! Think that she is hilarious, it got them interested in the book so perhaps we will read it as a family.

I saw this today while browsing the book giveaways, thought that it sounded interesting! Maybe, one of you will enter also and actually win it, I have terrible luck winning any books on here!
Balzac's Omelette: A Delicious Tour of French Food and Culture with Honore de Balzac

I apologize for lagging behind in the discussion for this book, but I had to turn my copy of the book back into the library and have never picked up a new one. Since the month is almost over, any more thoughts or comments on this book? Has this prompted you to read anymore by this by Gaskell?

Hello Maria! Welcome back and hope to see more of you!

Hello and welcome to the group Laura! Congrats on your graduation and I hope that you enjoy the group!

Stick the next top few eg Cholera, East of Eden, Zhivago etc in there and a few new ones f..."Just wanted to get some more people's take, so let's just have a new poll in January, adding the 2nd-4th books from the Nov. poll plus any new suggestions from members. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I would rather pick a new book every month, but I'm also open to carry-over.

Mrs. Thornton makes me laugh, such a typical mother's response-first one direction then another.
Jackie wrote: "Thanks, Lisa! I'm planning to read The Wind in the Willows even if I'm starting late."It is never too late in this group!

Hello and welcome to the group Mandy! Nowadays there is quite a bit of info on those labels, I bet they keep you busy!:) Anyway, I hope that you enjoy the group and find wonderful books to read!

It was suggested that we take the first and second books for next month's books, and the winners were
A Christmas Carol and
Love in the Time of Cholera. Would everyone like to double up in December or since the Holiday's get crazy, do LITOC in January? I would rather do it in January but I'm good with whatever.

The votes are in and the December group read is
A Christmas Carol. It will start December 1st and I can't think of a better Holiday read! Enjoy everyone and happy reading!

Hello and welcome to all the new people! May your bookshelves never be empty and you have hours of uninterrupted reading time!

They were taken care of by "nannie..."My mom was from Mississippi before coming to Colorado and it was interesting to talk with her about what went on during that time period. I don't know why it never occurred to me before this book.

Howdy and welcome to the group Jackie! I hope that you enjoy it and I think that Kerri is narrowing down next month's childrens read as we speak!
