I have never read anything by Georg..."Sounds good, or as a group read. We actually don't have any new books after November.

It reminds me of the way Napoleo..."Perfect analogy! It is also like in 1984 when the history is rewritten by entire departments. Hopefully, now a days with the internet, it would be harder, but, alas that still occurs. Sometimes f things are done gradually, then they become excepted faster. I just love these books, so much to talk about ponder.

Gayle, I'm not sure why we did not post December's? Just realized that also! I will have to talk to Kerri, and maybe I was mistaken and we haven't picked books for December, let me get back with you. Man, now I'm excited! Perhaps it is time to pick new books! Woohoo!!

I'd have to agree Zuzana. Now that you mention it,the book was rather like the Star Wars movies. Like that analogy!

Welcome Kate! I hope that you enjoy the group and good luck with your thesis! That sounds like something that would keep me up at nights also.

Zuzana and Jim, I have wanted to read both of those books. I'm glad that you liked them. Middlemarch is on my list also, have you read it before?

Hi Tiffany! Welcome to the group and I hope that you enjoy it!

Hello and welcome to the group Jennie! Have you seen The Depths of Winter Russian buddy read thread? There is a poll on what Russian classic to read for the winter going on right now, if you are interested. Thanks for joining and I hope that you enjoy the group!

Hello and welcome Raya! I like how you call it an invasion, that is funny! Considering that I have been to two different libraries every day this week, I might have to incorporate your language into my next visit! I hope that you enjoy the group!

Vicky started it, but I haven't heard from her in awhile and then Zuzana finished it, Mo read it a few months back, Daybrook just started it and you. That is all that I know of right now. We will keep the thread open forever, so don't worry that the thread will stop. Please don't feel rushed at all, it is a fun book to enjoy and savor!

Yes, but the lines get fudged on buddy reads. I just put that date because I needed to add an ending, it can go until whenever. You have plenty of time. the discussion can go on for how ever long we keep it going! There is no hurry!

I'm glad you like it so far Daybook! Can't wait to see what you think!

Hello and welcome to the group Katie! I glad that you joined and hope that you enjoy the group and the discussions.

I must say that Orwell is a very powerful writer. I never knew that about the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact before. I actually had to Google that since that was new history for me. Thanks for that! Amazing parts of history.
I cried for Boxer, that was heartbreaking.

Hello and welcome to the group Erin and Leslie! I hope that you enjoy it. Congrats on your memoir Leslie!
Kathy F wrote: "Finished it! Loved the beautiful imagery and descriptions of Sleepy Hollow and the surrounding area. The scene where Crane is being chased by the Headless Horseman is so vivid it makes your heart..."I wonder if their mascot has a head or not? Can he take it off a throw it at the other team, that would be fun to watch! Thanks for the trivia, Sleepy Hollow sounds better that North Tarrytown in my opinion.
Did your book have a preface that talked about the author? I found his life story really interesting. How he was supposed to be a lawyer, but hated it then had a fiancee who died and that served to change his life path. His descriptive qualities are wonderful, they set the scene so well. Glad you enjoyed it Kathy!

Good luck Ingrid!

Hello and welcome to the group Ingrid! How much fun to have a puppy! I hope that you enjoy the group and get lots of wonderful free time to read!
Lisa wrote: "Just finished Fanny Hill, started into The Black Dahlia, & also started The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test. That one has a pretty trippy beginning, LOL"Just the name tends to think that the book might be rather trippy! LOL!
Rena wrote: "Thanks! And I just want to say how appreciative I am that you guys are so responsive to your group - I have asked a couple of questions since joining and and it was only a matter of minutes before..."Ha!Great/obsessed, thanks for that! We try to keep the group active and going! Thanks again! :)
