Anne Bishop actually did the signing in March and I saw it posted on her facebook page. So I looked up the bookstore to check it out when we were in Albany cuz it looked cool - Flights of Fantasy Books and Games. I thought maybe they might have some signed books left but even if not it looked like an interesting store. Well, when we got there it was like 3 sets of guys playing game like dungeons and dragons. I was looking around and was looking for books by Ilona Andrews first and then saw the Anne Bishop books with these special book marks sticking out of them. Those were the signed ones and they were just on the shelf so I grabbed them (and got free Others bookmarks too!). I asked the owner if they had Etched in Bone signed and he said not if it wasn't already on the shelf. Anne goes there around once a year for a signing so these were what she signed and left behind for the store I guess. But honestly, since it was not a bad drive (like 2 1/2 hours) maybe I will go next year! It would be great ot meet her in person for a signing.

Does your husband share in your reading enthusiasm?
What school was your daughter visiting? Did you like it? ."
Vanessa, hubby doesn't read. He does better with audio books but hasn't done one in years now. Now he plays Skyrim All.The.Time. But it is a great game.....
We visited SUNY Albany. Its huge! We didn't realize it was a division 1 school. They have a massive stadium. It took us 10 minutes of driving around the campus to get to the parking lot we needed. It was an amazing school but a lot bigger than we thought it was going to be. There's like 17k students or something l like that. My daughter did like it and she will apply. But it was a bit overwhelming. But it did have a certain "wow" factor going and was a beautiful campus. It will all come down to money when it gets to be decision time next year. This was about 2 1/2 hour drive for us, so not out of the question. Plus she could take amtrak to come home. this was the 3rd school we've seen. Each one has been very different campus-wise. First was in Boston in the hospital district so no real "campus" - everything was in buildings that connected but no outside areas, etc. but a very highly rated school. But I felt like I was on a cruise ship and slightly claustrophobic (but my daughter did not mind this; she likes the idea of being in the city). Second was a state school about an hour from home (I went to this school and it so much better/updated - smaller to mid-size campus, we all liked this one very much.) And then SUNY Albany today.

Must admit I'm finding it a bit of a slog even though I am enjoying the overload of 80's references. Middle aged grandma is proba..."
I just saw the movie. Movie was great! Was thinking about trying the book...but I'll wait and see your review.

By the way, JR Ward announced next BDB book on her facebook page:
"And the next book is...
THE SAVIOR and it’s about Murhder! #returnofthemack"

Also, I thought Sola's reaction was mostly ok, but yes a tad drawn out. But it didn't jive with how quick she came to terms with it either. She just flip flopped too quick for me. I do love the grandmother.....

Yes i agree that there is something up with that directrix chic. It was weird when she didn't show when V & Jane were there. I also think she removed the book.

I was so glad the V/Jane thing didn't drag out. I wasn't thrilled with that angle as a problem for an existing couple. Even though I did not like it, I thought it was handled well. I did like that things were more tied off with the Scribe Virgin. I never gave too much thought about her disappearance and how it affected V. So it was nice to have that closure.
Becusee this series is so long running, my memory has lapsed on some of the more minor details. Like Mhurder and Xhex having a past. I don't remember Mhurder really, but I do remember his name. But that's about it.
Also, because Sola & Assail started off several books ago (The King?), I did forget a lot of their story. It was recapped well, but it felt like I couldn't connect with them as well because it had been so long since they fell in love. I probably should've done a reread. So this is not the books fault....
I am looking forward to see what Assail does with himself now. He was such a badass in previous books. I kinda missed that in this one, but hey he was recovering from almost dying and redeeming himself for his female.
Sounds like the Jo Early/half breed thing is coming to a head soon. I am super interested in that.
I love how officer De La Cruz pops up from time to time. I wonder if he and Butch will ever run into each other.....
Regarding Vitoria....it kinda seemed like a non-story. Yeah something was needed that would affect this couple specifically for them to overcome (besides the whole vampire/human lovers scenario), but it was mostly Vitoria and her shenanigans until the very end. But I am glad it wasn't dragged out. I wonder if we will see De La Cruz trying to solve her murder too....
The shadow things are ok for an enemy but I hope it doesn't drag out too much. But with the Lessening Society almost gone we do need an enemy to keep the series going.....
I am wondering about how Sola and Assail will work as a couple with the not-aging thing for him and what they will do together etc. But at the same time, I am glad JR Ward left it open and didn't just come up with a way immediately for them that would've been forced or done before or not made sense. I'm willing to wait and see...
Random thought that bothered me when I was reading....when Jane ended up in the Sanctuary she couldn't call V because her phone would not work there. Then later on, V got a text from Phury and immediately met him at the Sanctuary (wearing the MLP pants). I guess we are supposed to assume that Phury left the Sanctuary and texted V and then went back to meet him. But when I read it at the time all I could think was "I thought phones didn't work there....)
So now I will wait for the next book. I'm glad she does the Black Dagger Legacy books too, so we get to pop into this world more than once a year.
And every time I read one, I think of doing a series reread. There's just so many books it seems so daunting. But ya know, maybe next time I am in a slump I will just grab Beth & Wrath's book and see what happens.....

Anyone wanna chat spoilers when I'm done? I'll post on the spoiler discussion thread...
I will say so far I am between 4-5*

Not really a spoiler for anything but just in case....

"You know, you have an interesting way of posing a question without actually using a question mark."
"That's because I'm trying not to encourage a response."

Starting The Thief.

I get a weird request every now and then. Says they are following my reviews but they have no friends and no books read.....

About 2/3 through Tiger Eye. This has been on TBR for years. Its ok, but again kinda "meh". I am interested in seeing how the couple gets an HEA, but I"m just not feeling connected to the story all that much. Part of it I think is the writing style. I just can't put my finger on it. Anyway, I'll probably end up giving it 3*, and will have to see if I continue with the series. Maybe I'm not in the right mood....?
Looking forward to The Thief

Sharon is this your first Laurenston shifter book? Because if so, then this series is a spin off so the majority of characters were in previous books. The 3 sisters are new, and the wolverine. But everyone else was in previous books.

But this is a good series but is a spin off of the Covenant series. Covenant was more YA, where as the Titan spin off is more adult/new adult.

Lisa's right, nothing important, but enjoyable for us hard core fans....
