22225 Hello everyone. Just wanted to share some amazing fun I had last week. In Chicago, the BookExpo took place May 11th-13th and the BookCon was the 14th. I got to attend all four days and ended up coming home with 188 FREE books! Most were ARCs, Advance Reader Copies, but still, 188 free books, and on top of that, I got autographs from 74 different authors, too! My shoulders are killing me from the heavy bags I dragged around for several hours each day, but it was SO worth it! I have to admit, this was a bibliophile's paradise. :-)

1. Complaining that you have no social life even though 9 times out of 10 you CHOOSE to stay at home with a book.

2. Starting a new book when you’re already in the middle of reading another one.

3. Keeping receipts around for the sole purpose of using them as bookmarks in a pinch.

4. Saying “I have nothing to read” when you have an entire shelf full of books.

5. Becoming personally and deeply offended when someone tells you they don’t read that much.

6. Looking around to make sure no one notices you smelling a brand new book in the aisle of Barnes & Noble.

7. Listening to someone ramble on about the book that changed their life while secretly waiting your turn to ramble on about yours.

8. Saying “I’m so tired” when you know it was your fault for staying up until 3 in the morning to finish a book.

9. Becoming irrationally sad when the love interest of a story is not actually real and therefore will not ever be able to date you.

10. Taking it personally when you let a friend borrow your favorite book and then they tell you hate it.

11. Canceling plans because “you have a lot to do today” aka READ!!!!

12. Realizing you should know the answer to the question “What’s your favorite book?” BUT never being able to narrow it down.

13. Going to the bookstore when you are literally broke and don’t have any money to buy books.

14. Obsessing over a book in a series and then literally forgetting everything when the next one comes out a year later.

15. And finally, lovingly stroking the cover of a book after you finished the last page because you loved it THAT MUCH.

22225 What titles can you come up with where children travel to another world through a particular means?

Can you name who went where and how did they do it in what book?

For example:
Dorothy went to Oz via a twister carrying her in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
The Pevensie Siblings went to Narnia through a wardrobe in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Wendy, John, and Michael are flown to Neverland by Peter Pan in Peter Pan
Alice went to Wonderland through a rabbit hole and to the Looking-glass world through a mirror in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
Milo drives to the Kingdom of Wisdom through the Phantom Tollbooth in The Phantom Tollbooth

22225 I read so many series that I could probably finish this now just by going with those, but I want to try it a bit trickier and see if I can do it by titles. So far, I have done a couple that qualify that way.

1. A book that either has "One," "1," or "First" in its title or is the first in a series. Evil in the 1st House by Mitchell Scott Lewis 2-17-16
2. A book that either has "Two," "2," or "Second" in its title or is the second in a series.
3. A book that either has "Three," "3," or "Third" in its title or is the third in a series.
4. A book that either has "Four," "4," or "Fourth" in its title or is the fourth in a series.
5. A book that either has "Five," "5," or "Fifth" in its title or is the fifth in a series. The Five Paths by Isobel Bird 4-24-16
6. A book that either has "Six," "6," or "Sixth" in its title or is the sixth in a series.
7. A book that either has "Seven," "7," or "Seventh" in its title or is the seventh in a series.
8. A book that either has "Eight," "8," or "Eighth" in its title or is the eighth in a series.
9. A book that either has "Nine," "9," or "Ninth" in its title or is the ninth in a series.
10. A book that either has "Ten," "10" or "Tenth" in its title or is the tenth in a series.
11. A book that either has "Eleven," "11," or "Eleventh" in or is the eleventh in a series. Murder in the 11th House: A Starlight Detective Agency Mystery by Mitchell Scott Lewis 2-8-16
12. A book that either has "Twelve," "12," or "Twelfth" or is the twelfth in a series. Death in the 12th House: Where Neptune Rules: A Starlight Detective Agency Mystery by Mitchell Scott Lewis 2-12-16

22225 Got another idea for a reading challenge from the book clock I made.
Here's the deal. By the end of the year, you have to read 12 books. You must read:
1. A book that either has "One," "1," or "First" in its title or is the first in a series.
12. A book that either has "Twelve," "12," or "Twelfth" or is the twelfth in a series.

You can go back and include books you have read since the 1st of January. We'll see what books people read, and maybe someone can use them to make a book clock of their own. Good luck.

22225 I've read 98 of my 300 books, which puts me at 33% done and 13 books ahead of schedule. Right on pace for myself.
