I've been on a bit of a book binge. I went to my local Salvation Army store for the first time and came home with these: , picked up these from the library's used book shelf: and some orders arrived too. From Amazon came: and from Thriftbooks came:

I went today to my local Salvation Army store for the first time and came home with eleven books. I think I might make it a habit of making that a monthly visit from now on.

Picked up some nice finds from the public library's used book shelf:

Guess what? I just hit 300 with still a couple of weeks left to go. I'm wondering if I can pull off another 25 before year's end. Time will tell. :-)

A nice size order arrived today. I don't know what to read first.

I pretty much go with Goodreads ratings.
1 star is "Did not like it"
2 stars is "It was ok"
3 stars is "Liked it"
4 stars is "Really liked it"
5 stars is "It was amazing"

I only give 1 star if the book was absolutely horrid, a total waste of time and paper. 2 stars for books that were just ok, enjoyable but nothing special. The majority of my reviews are 3 stars for books I enjoyed reading and would likely read again. Books get 4 stars if they were better than 3 stars, but not quite 5 stars. I rarely give 5 stars unless it is a must read, must own, must read again sort of book. So far, I've only give 1 star for 4 books out of 3422 read so far, and 55 books have gotten 5 star reviews.

Tiffany, I don't have kids of my own, but I am a Youth Services librarian. I have to say that so long as the book is not going to be a bad influence on the kid, keep reading. For the good the child, get them hooked on books so that when they can read for themselves, they will.
