I get so excited when new cozy mysteries are due to be released. There are certain authors who bump up that excitement to a whole different level, and Ellery Adams is one of those authors. If her name is on the book, I’s a for certain read for me. The Book By The Bay Mystery series is the only proof you need of why.

First, I adore the way each chapter starts with a quote from a famous literary figure. I think it’s fun with an author add a touch like this.

WRITING ALL WRONGS starts just a few months after series lead, Olivia Limoges and Chief Rawlings are married. I enjoyed reading the new dynamic in their relationship. Reading of how they were adjusting to their new roles.

This was another brilliant plot by Ellery Adams, whose attention to detail on a bad day is wonderful, and on a good day, outstanding! And outstanding is the word to use to describe this book. A strong, edge of your seat storyline, brilliantly written characters, combined with the prose of this talented author, make WRITING ALL WRONGS the best of the best in this series.

Trust me when I say, there were no wrongs that needed righting in this incredible book!

Check out the back of the book for an excerpt from the upcoming 2016 release of BREACH OF CRUST, the newest installment in the Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery series also by Ellery Adams.

This edition of Books by the Bay series was very, very good. And very, very sad. It was a very good reminder of what bitterness, entitlement and a very lonely existence can lead to. And that would NOT be rainbows and unicorns.

I love this series, but this one left me with an ache in my heart and tears in my eyes. It was all very real and I had real, crazy emotions all the way through it. It was a very good read and accomplished all it set out to accomplish.

Ellery Adams' Books by the Bay series has long been one of my favorites for the plots, the three-dimensional characters, the local history, the mouth-watering food, and the insights into a writing group each book has provided.

In Writing All Wrongs, Olivia and Rawlings have a problem or two to iron out in their brand-new marriage, and Olivia has another chance to come to terms with her biological father. Adams once again does a superb job in showcasing the history of the North Carolina coast. (It's certainly rich enough to fuel hundreds of crime fiction plots.) There's also a spine-chilling sense of dread throughout the scene involving the opening of a bookstore.

I have to admit that there were a couple of things I missed. The Bayside Book Writers were primarily sleuths in this book, and I did miss their meetings. I've found it fascinating to learn what can go on in groups like this-- from developing an idea to writing a book to actually getting it published. Scarcely any mention was made of Olivia's new book, although to be honest, the woman didn't have time to pick up a pen let alone do any writing. Another thing missed? I've come to look forward to descriptions of mouth-watering meals in this series, and they were scarcely to be found here.

The suspect list is a long one in Writing All Wrongs, the plot threads are many, and everything was concluded in a bit of a rush at the end. It felt a bit perfunctory, as if this book could very well have been the last. Fortunately I know that it isn't. Although this particular book may have a few little flaws, it is very enjoyable, and I still give this entire series my strongest recommendation.

Ellery Adams has done it again! Get ready for a whirlwind adventure on the lovely Palmetto Island.
Olivia and Rawlings are combining their honeymoon with the wonderful Coastal Carolina Festival. They plan on meeting up with the Bayside Book Writers, but not before some well deserved romance.
The friends have something to celebrate as Millay is getting ready to have her first book published! Excitement is catching as the island is also featuring writer Silas Black who has the ever popular tv hit series No Quarter. History and pirates will keep you on the edge of your seat. However, excitement soon turns to turmoil as Olivia discovers a body on the beach.
The suspect list is long and law officials are working overtime to solve the crime.

I loved this installment of the series and all my favorite characters were involved. Captain Haviland is such a delightful part of the series and I am always excited to see what new adventures he finds.

Having always lived on the eastern seaboard the Outer Banks as always been my favorite beach area. So I was so excited to start this adventure . Olivia and Rawlings get their long delayed honeymoon on beautiful Palmetto Island. Part of the charm of this region for me is the legends , ghosts stories and pirates. Ellery Adams brings all this to live as our characters discover these charms. This is number 7 in the Books by the Bay series and once again Ellery Adams has given us a wonderful ride. And she brings along my favorite characters from the first 6 in the series. We have brief appearances by locals and than the Bayside Book Writers meet up with Olivia on Palmetto Island and of course my favorite poodle Haviland.
What honeymoon would be complete with out a murder. The list of suspects is long when Olivia finds a body. As in the rest of this series you will be surprised - feel joy and there will be tears . And in the end you will love Olivia just a little more

This series gets better with every book. The only bad thing about that is knowing that I only have one book left in the series. Way back when I read the first book, I'll admit I didn't really like Olivia, but over the course of the series, she has changed and become a favorite character. I like the rest of the Bayside Book Writers group too, and the way they work together.

This book is not set in Oyster Bay but on a small island just a ferry ride away, and seemed like a good location for the Crime Festival, especially with the guest of honor's obsession with pirates. There was a good bit of coastal Carolina's history in this book, as well as local ghost stories. As usual from Ms. Adams, these were worked into the story in a way that made me feel like I was there, seeing and feeling what the characters were experiencing.

The mystery was well-done, with several unexpected twists, and I was unable to identify the culprit and the motive until near the end of the book. I'm eager to read the next book, but don't want the series to end.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Olivia and Chief Rawlings are finding the way in the marriage department. They were both used to their alone time and solitary space. Hard to learn how to live with a person day in and day out when you are pretty set in your ways, but I have faith they will work everything out. Taking a honeymoon on Palmetto Island seems like a good start. They are joined after a couple of days by their friends, the Bayside Book Writers, as the Coastal Carolina Crime Festival starts. Celebrity, Silas Black, is the main draw to the festival but when local ghost stories start to come to life and a woman is found dead on the beach the fun the group was having comes to an end. When the main suspect is someone they know it’s all hands on deck to find the real killer.

Ellery Adams takes her characters on a bit of vacation and where they go trouble seems to follow. Palmetto Island sounds like a beautiful place. I can understand the residents wanting to keep part of the island in its original state and the anger as another developer comes in to put up another hotel. The character of Jan is not afraid to protest or rile people up to protect the habitat. We also meet a man who lived his whole life, 90 years, on Palmetto Island. He is quite a storyteller too. Adams draws such dynamic characters, new and old and even dogs. They are all so engaging.

The mystery itself has many moving parts. The ghost stories being reenacted, the sale of a large piece of land, the festival, a book release, and more. They are all blended together with a very fine hand. The words and the images they formed were so captivating. It was quite an adventure.

Adams is an extraordinary storyteller. In this series she writes the main story but also because the cast are writers themselves she has to write pieces of their stories too. In this installment one of them actually has had a book published and while it probably isn’t my cup of tea I almost expect it to pop up on my Amazon feed. She adds even more stories this time as we hear the Palmetto Island ghost stories.

I have loved this series from the start and I want more, more, more!!

The Books by the Bay Mystery series tops my list of favorite cozy mysteries. I look forward to every book and the series is an auto buy for me. The reasons that I love this series so much is the story telling ability of Ellery Adams and the character development. Each book in the series is different and unique. So many times books feel formula driven in some series. Not so in this series as the plot is fresh and well researched. The mystery is well developed. The series can also be atmospheric as I could visualize Olivia's visit to the Allen's cottage. Scenes from other books in this series are still fresh in my mind. The North Carolina coast is well described and almost has a personality like a character.

I like very much how the character evolve in each book. Olivia has developed into a more open and loving character through out each book. However, she has retained the strong spine of steel personality through out the development. I look forward to keeping up with the characters in the Bay Writers Group who too have evolved. One would like to know this group and be friends with them. New characters make appearances in all books and some stay in Oyster Bay for future books. I also thought that the marriage of Olivia and Rawlings didn't detract from the book as it does in some tv series. They leave space in their lives to be independent from each other when they feel that need but still in the end are a couple who love and respect each other. They stayed true to their pre-marriage characters.

Finally I always love to read of Olivia walks on the North Carolina shoreline with Captain Haviland and her treasure hunter. I am always interested in what treasures that the ocean will give up. This is the 7th book in the series and it has not become stale at all. It is always fresh and new. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

What I like about this series, other than the trip to the beach, is the character development. They’ve all grown so much over the course of the series. The stories are always fun and I enjoyed the pirate and ghost themes in this one.

Love this series! This book uses a different setting for half of the story, but many of the usual characters are in the entire book. I like that because I like the usual characters! A guest character from A Books by the Bay Mystery #3 returns, and he plays a significant part in the plot. I love the character development. Looking forward to reading the next book, which I regret is the final book of the series.

Olivia Limoges and Chief Rawlings are off on their honeymoon to Palmetto Island for their honeymoon. After a week together, they will be joined by the Bayside Book Writers for the Coastal Carolina Crime Festival.
This year, the Festival is hosting Silas Black, the TV producer and screenwriter who is filming part of his popular TV show on Palmetto Island. But when the Writers arrive, someone decides to act out local ghost stories, and then a body is found, that of a woman closely associated with Black.
The Bayside Book Writers now must do what they do best…hunt for a killer.
I have a confession to make. When I read the first book in this series I wasn’t sure I liked Olivia. She seemed a little cold to me, and she didn’t strike me as a character I wanted to read about. But I gave the series a second chance, and now I eagerly await the next book in the series to see what is happening with the Writers.
One of the things that I have loved is watching Olivia grow, and having her become one of the characters I love the most in books.
This is a series you need to start from the beginning, and if you are I have to say I’m a little jealous. I would love the chance to meet the Bayside Book Writers for the first time again. As it is, I’ll have to contend myself with following their adventures from this book forward, and I hope there are a lot more adventures to go.
Five plus stars for this one.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Olivia and Rawlings are looking forward to honeymoon time while on the island of Palmetto, after which the plans are for their friends to join them for the annual festival. This year the festival highlights include a visit from the renowned Silas Black, screenwriter and celebrated TV producer. With a theme of pirates, the entertainment is sure to please everyone. But when some of the island's ghost tales seem to come true, and Olivia stumbles across a dead body, it's time for the Bayside Book Writers to help out with the investigation. This is a delightful cozy mystery series and I especially appreciate the emotional growth of the main character, Olivia. When I look back at my review for the first book in this series, I noted that Olivia seemed a little too standoffish. But now, although she still occasionally seeks solitude with her beloved Haviland, she is more at peace with her friends and new husband, and even is seeking a resolution to the difficult relationship with her newly discovered father. The mystery as always is entertaining and the solution fun to unravel. I look forward to the next book in this series.

I loved it. This book kept me guessing right up to the end. There was so many things going on but they all blended into a great story. I had different killers picked out and then changed my mind and thought it was someone else and still never choose the right one. I can not recommend this book more highly. You will love it.

Time is not on my side but I am still enjoying reading/listening to a lot of great books so I opted to do some mini reviews so that I can get them finished and done so I am not stressing. :)

In book seven Olivia and Rawlings are married and enjoying a brief honeymoon on Palmetto Island and then the Books by the Bay writers are going to join them as they were all going to attend the Coastal Carolina Crime Festival together. One of the highlights of the festival is Silas Black who is a famous screenwriter with a hit program, but he is carrying around a bit of a secret. Also it seems he has a lots of lady drama as he is with one but another thinks she should be with him and then the lady he is with gets murdered and a professor that Olivia has befriended becomes a suspect. Olivia doesn't care what others thinks she knows he didn't do it and sets out to prove it. Rawlings has no jurisdiction there and wants to believe Olivia's friend didn't do it but not a lot he can do.

When Olivia is your friend you don't have anything to worry about because she doesn't give up till you finds out who is the culprit. I know I first started out not liking Olivia to much in the first couple of books but I really have come to really like her and her fierce loyalty to her friends. Of course I love all the side characters too!

Great mystery as always!

Even when the Bayside Writers club goes on vacation they can't avoid getting wrapped in a mystery, but this one may lead to the loss of someone close to them if they don't untangle it fast enough! Great characters make a good plot even better and this set of characters will have you desiring more! I look forward to the next book and can't wait to get started, especially since all the books have been available via audiobook so far!

Writing All Wrongs, the seventh and most recent of Ellery Adams's Books by the Bay series, sees Olivia and Chief Rawlings leave Oyster Bay for a delayed honeymoon. The other police officers tease Rawlings for spending most of the week at the Coastal Carolina Crime Festival, which the other three members of the Bayside Book Writers will join them in attending. Laughs soon turn to jealousy, though, when the officers learn that the festival will feature Silas Black, the famous novelist who has turned his books about pirates into a pop culture television phenomenon. While on Palmetto Island, Olivia happily runs into an old friend, a professor whose expertise of local history has helped the Bayside Book Writers solve more than one mystery. However, Olivia greets the surprise presence of Charles Wade, her biological father and a successful man of real estate business, with suspicion. Her doubts grow when she finds him to be very chummy with Silas Black, whom the members of the writers group discover to be highly egotistical and a womanizer.

Ellery Adams manages to pull you into her books in a way that makes you want to linger. I love the Books on the Bay books along with many of her other series, but while reading Writing All Wrongs, I kept putting the book down so it would take me longer to read, strange I know. I would pick it up five minutes later and have to read more; this is one of those books that definitely make you stay up past your bedtime. Olivia and Chief Rawlings enjoy a brief honeymoon on Palmetto Island and are soon joined by the rest of the Bayside Book Writers for a festival celebrating the Legends of Coastal Carolina. Highlighted is Silas Black, a popular writer, screenwriter, and TV producer.

Only as the history of the pirates along the coast and Silas Black's TV show take up a lot of everyone's attention, suddenly ghost stories from the island start coming to life and death. As Chief Rawlings tries to help the local police on a murder and break in, his help is not wanted. The Bayside Book Writers go to work on trying to solve the puzzles of the ghost stories that lead to the murder.

Olivia's father, Charles and Silas Black are close friends and when she decides they are holding back a secret, she wants to know what it is, now. Never in my life would I have come up with the reasons for the secret.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and being a part of the Bayside Book Writers group once again. They are the type of friends you want to surround yourself with and be there if someone is murdered; a tenacious group with lots of appeal and different personalities that work together. The plot of the story drags you in as do the many characters besides the Bayside Book Writers. You need to know along with the rest of them what is going on and in the end how to capture the culprit.

I loved the little twist at the end and recommend this book to those who enjoy cozy mysteries. While this is part of a series, you can read this one without reading the other's first. You will then want to go back and learn more about the characters and what they have been up too.

I received this book in return for my honest review.

Writing All Wrongs
By Ellery Adams
Berkley Prime Crime

Writing All Wrongs begins right after the previous book in the series, Lethal Letters. Olivia and Chief Rawlings are married but have yet to take a honeymoon. They decide to enjoy a short honeymoon on Palmetto Island before the rest of the Bayside Writers join them for the Legends of Coastal Carolina Festival. The festival, an annual event, is special this year because Silas Black, a television producer who brings legends to life on the small screen, is the main speaker at the festival. He plans a show about the famous pirates along the Carolina coast. The problem is, Silas has a history of taking liberties with the historical figures and the actual facts of the legends he brings to the screen, so not everyone on the island is thrilled that he is coming. If that was not enough to put a damper on the festival, the environmentalists are up in arms because of a proposed land development project which would cut deeply into a nature preserve.

It should come as no surprise to readers that although they were determined to have a good time regardless of the distractions, Olivia and Rawlings soon find themselves immersed in the conflicts. As the week progresses, they discover that the program is not the only reason for Silas to be on the island and Olivia is shocked to find out about some long buried secrets involving her father which are also tied to Silas.

Adams has done an excellent job of plotting this book out. Readers need to pay close attention to even the seemingly most minor points to follow the twisted plot threads. Also, there is a couple of rather shocking turns towards the end of the book.

At the end of the book, Adams has included a page detailing information about the real island that is used as “Palmetto Island “ in this book . Also, one of the key plot points has to do with a pirate artifact and the real information on that is also included.

Writing All Wrongs is the seventh book in the Books by the Bay series.

Written In Stone is the seventh book in the Books By The Bay series.

Once again Ellery Adams has provided the readers with a well plotted and exciting story. A beautifully described area and an interesting cast of characters will provide the readers with a reading adventure.

Olivia and Chief Rawlings have been married for just a short time and have decided to honeymoon on Palmetto Island and to enjoy the Legends of Coastal Carolina Festival that will be taking place. The member of the Bayside Book Writers group will also be attending the festival, as the main attraction is Silas Black, best selling author and TV producer.

Many of the locals aren't happy with Black as he wants to purchase some of the island and develop the land. Also some of residents are upset that Black wants to rewrite the stories of the pirates who were part of that area's early history and make them more ruthless than legends say they were.

Olivia has an enjoyable visit with George Allen, a 90 year, life long resident of Palmetto Island. Mr. Allen tells the history of the island as he saw it. He also tells some of the ghost stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. But when some of these ghost stories start happening, it time for Olivia, Rawlings and the Bayside Book Writers to find out who is behind these re-enactments. Then when Olivia find's Black's girlfriend dead on the dressed in the same way as the woman in one of these ghost stories they will kick their investigation up a notch. Hopefully they will learn who the killer is before anyone else loses their life.
If you haven't had the pleasure of reading this series yet, I would recommend starting with the first book so that you can see the character development that takes, particularly Olivia. Ms. Adams does a wonderful job of bringing someone who is somewhat aloof and brings her into a warmhearted and caring person.

Definitely am looking forward to the next book in this exciting series.

The author took me into the story immediately and I found myself reading at a slower pace because I did not want to finish the book at my normal pace. The events/discoveries that continually popped up kept me wanting to read faster, but I couldn't, because the ending would come to soon.

Olivia, the protagonist in this seaside series and her husband, Chief Rawlings, are spending a few glorious days on their honeymoon on Palmetto Island before their writing group, The Bayside Book Writers join them for a festival celebrating, Coastal North Carolina and its Legends.
Silas Black, is the main attraction at the festival and takes up most of the attention with all of the attendees. Legends of ghosts, as told by the islanders, start to become reality when a death occurs. Chief Rawlings offers his assistance to the local law enforcement and The Bayside Writers start to work on solving the question, Why are the legends coming to fruition?
Olivia's once estranged father is present at the festival unknown to Olivia. When confronted, he informs her he and Silas are collage friends, but Olivia's gut is telling her there is something more going on with the two men, besides collage, friendship and ties to North Carolina.
From beginning to end you are immersed into the plot, through, the island setting, the history, the characters and from the secrets that creep up at you!

I was graciously given a copy of this book for my honest review. This book provides you with a dash of romance, secrets, history, mystery and fun! Fabulous series!
Ellery Adams is blessed with extraordinary talent and I thank her again for allowing me to review a intriguing, suspenseful and fun mystery!

Wow. Writing All Wrongs is definitely Adams' best work yet. I've been reading her work since the very beginning and with each book she crafts her characters are more real, thus I want to be with them more and watch them learn and grow; her settings have varied, making me want visit each and every locale; her plot lines delve deeper into right and wrong, truth and justice, legend and lore. For me, Ellery Adams is for cozies what Louise Penny is for a traditional mystery. When I close an Ellery Adams book I am a wiser, better person for having read her work.

This is the seventh book in the Books By the Bay mystery series. When we first met Olivia in book one she was a different person. Throughout this series, she has met, befriended, encountered, loved, and lost many people; Olivia has felt confused, cautious, gracious, grateful, scared, angry, and contentshe is such a relatable character while partaking in adventures I can also enjoy from my home. "Draw your chair up close to the edge of the precipice and I'll tell you a story." ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

Ellery Adams draws me into her story each time. She delivers what I desire as a reader each time well developed characters whom I look forward to reading about again and again; detailed, descriptive settings that I long to visit; and multi-layered plot lines that lend to stories before and after the current read.

I invite you to Oyster Bay to spend some time with Olivia, Capt' Haviland, Rawlings and the rest of the colorful cast of the Bayside Book Writers and mysteries adventures they encounter. I believe you won't be disappointed I never have been.

Ellery Adams is another one of those authors whose books I automatically purchase when a new one is published. She is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors because she always delivers a great read. Writing All Wrongs continues that tradition and does not disappoint.

This is the 7th book in the series and Ms. Adams has taken us on a journey with the Bayside Mystery Writers club that has allowed her readers to watch all of the characters grow through out the series. We have seen Olivia, the main character, go from someone with a painful past that caused her to close herself off to people, to becoming a sister/aunt, a friend, a mentor to some of the members of the writers club, and most recently a wife. There is a depth to the characters that allows the reader to become invested in their story and their lives. We want them to succeed in their endeavors. With each new story, Ms. Adams is able to write a strong new mystery with plenty of twists, turns and some red herrings that keeps the reader guessing as to the identity of the killer. That does not change with this new installment. This was a solid mystery and I for one was not sure of the killer's identity until it was finally revealed. In addition, Ms. Adams also uses the setting of North Carolina and the Outer Banks region as almost a secondary characters. This back drop lends charm to the overall story and combined with all the other strengths of this series, it keeps the readers coming back to see what happens next.
