Hello all! Starting up the monthly discussions for March 2018 book-of-the-month suggestions. This discussion is for a brand new category called BOOKSHELF CATCH-UP.This is a catch-up book club, after all. For this category, you can nominate any book that the group has previously read. For a list of books that the group has previously read and discussed, please see the bookshelf.
The following books are NOT eligible as we have reread them as a group within the last twelve months:
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I'll start off by suggesting a group read that I personally missed - A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.

Hello all! Starting up the monthly discussions for March 2018 book-of-the-month suggestions. This discussion is for the MODERN CLASSICS/POPULAR READS CATEGORY.As a reminder, books that qualify for this category must have a publication date 1970 and after. If the book you wish to nominate was published 1969 or prior, please make your suggestion on the Classics thread.
For 2018, we will be trying some new monthly themes, the first being NON-FICTION.
Please nominate a book that is designated as non-fiction.
I'll start off by suggesting No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the NSA, and the U.S. Surveillance State by Glenn Greenwald.

The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe
Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh"
I see The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test first publish date of 1968, so will count for other category.
Alisa wrote: "This is definitely one of those that many people read in school that I just never seemed to pick up and had really forgotten about until now. Totally going in this blindly as I have no idea what it..."Alisa, jealous you're going in with absolutely no context. You'll find it much more powerful I think. Hope you ennoy it!
Verified new total = 487,756.If there are any others that still have entries, please add ASAP, thank you!!!
Thanks for playing, witches and wizards around the world!!!Final telly will be posted today. If you have any books to add, please do so ASAP!!!

Welcome to the 2018 Relay Race Reading Challenge!!!
HOW IT WORKS
Post a comment (on the LAST COMMENT PAGE) with the following four things:
1) the cover of a book you recently read (see below for instructions),
2) the date you completed reading that book,
3) the number of pages in the book you read, and
4) last but not least, sum of all pages read by the group.
That's it! See below for samples.
The goal is to get to 1,000,000 pages read as a group.
ANYONE can post AS MANY TIMES as they want! This is a group effort, folks! You can enter books read for the bookclub OR those read outside of the group.
Let's try to beat our 2017 group total of 486,454.
THE RULES/SOME TIPS
1. How to add a book cover
On the top right of the comment box, you will see a hyperlink "add book/author" (in English).
At the bottom of the window that appears, you'll see two radio buttons "link" and "cover" - please select "cover".
Type the name of the book in the search field and once you click "search", select the correct book. The code will look like the following without the *: [*bookcover:The Catcher in the Rye|5107]
2. How to decide your page count
If hardcopy, use the number of pages in the edition of the book that you read.
If electronic (kindle, nook, etc.), use the number of pages from the kindle edition.
If you listened to a book on tape, use the number of pages from the most popular edition on Goodreads (when you search a book, the most popular edition is the default).
No genre or page length restrictions, and can be book club group reads OR books you've read outside of the group.
3. Books per post
In general, books per post should be one book as you would be posting the book you most recently finished, but feel free to add more if you have finished multiple books recently!
This is a running tally, so please don't wait and post 20 books at once... wouldn't be much of a relay!
No need to post backdated books. Just start from the day you entered the relay =)
4. Make sure you are on the LAST comment page
As this is a running tally, make sure you are on the LAST COMMENT PAGE before commenting as you want to add your pages read to the last total.
Above the comment box, you'll see the hyperlinks for every comment page, will look like "<< previous 1 2 3 4 5 next >>" or something like this - make sure you're on the highest number. Goodreads only allows for 50 comments per page.
5. Please double check the math of your post total!!
LET'S RELAY!!!

Hi missy - if you use a desktop computer you can find them on the homepage. If you’re using the app, go to the First comment on this thread and select the hyperlink to the club’s bookshelf - should be the top three books. Hope that helps!
What's everyone's New Year's Resolutions?!? Besides reading a million books that is...Trying to come up with some cool ideas for group challenges, hoping everyone's goals for 2018 (reading or otherwise) can inspire us!
