Thanks, Sha! Much appreciated =)

GayeLynn - the books to be read in January have been posted. You should be able to see them on the group's homepage - to the right of the "Currently Reading" book covers, there's an "Upcoming" column with books to be read.
You can also go to the group's bookshelf and select the "to read" bookshelf.
Hope that helps!

This is a crazy comment - so many new members!!

As first, honestly (and disappointingly) not a fan. I thought the writing was immature/not great prose, I don't know, felt like a first draft not a final. And I guessed who the kidnapper was in chapter 1, so the mystery of the first half of the book was unfortunately gone. There were some "oh shit" surprise moments, but something lost because it became predictable.
The whole concept of the box/multiverse was great, completely redeemed the book for me. I've read other books with similar concepts so wasn't as brand new/mind blowing but still cool.
When Amanda and Jason started exploring worlds, the book became predictable again... knew there would be horror and crazy worlds they would explore, and then eventually find the right one. The whole concept of close-but-not-exact being more horrific than totally different was really interesting and unexpected. Unfortunately again, given that they ran into another Jason inside the box, I anticipated multiple Jason's ending up in the right place at the end.
The ending... I'm just kind of meh on. I'm not sure how else it could have ended, so felt natural from that stand point. However, I agree with others in that Daniela was talked about ALL THE TIME and Charlie not at all, so when Charlie chose the new world it made sense but there was no emotional response for me because I had no idea who that character was and was not convinced of Jason's emotional ties to him.
Overall, very cool concept, meh on execution for me.

I think that would do it! as long as the nominator has some way of showing that a book belongs to the category (aka can show book written in language 'x' by author from country 'y') that works for me!

I guessed it in chapter 1 too... maybe too much foreshadowing?

From an administrative perspective, if we do this, how do we verify initial language that a book was published in? Just looking at Goodreads pages, the "language" for a certain book is tied to the edition you are looking at, not language of original publication.
I love these ideas, I guess just struggling with how we execute smoothly. Given past experience with less defined parameters (ex. classics vs. modern/popular before we added the 1970 line, "buddy reads" in general - both my bad) I'm inclined to lock this down before suggesting broadly.

Nikkie - Amazon has a free Kindle app that you can download on any device, and they have a Kindle version (aka e-book version) of the book Here!

Marcos - makes sense, I think choosing a nation/nationality to focus on would be great! I guess I still have the same follow-up question, though, regarding the process here: How do we easily verify the eligibility of a nomination?
Are there lists of authors or books by country that are comprehensive and accurate that you know of? Since we're narrowing the list of books from everything published prior and post 1970 (an easily verifiable criteria because it's available on Goodreads for every book), I'd want to be able to provide a list or at least some ideas for those nominating, and then some easy way for us to check if nominated books are indeed from a certain nation.
