Hi Shivangi,
Like this idea too! I think we would still stick to just two books (classics and modern/popular) and fit YA into either category with the third book being a bookshelf reread. But romance in spring sounds interesting... just not necessarily spring time for all members.

Marcos - I think this is a great idea, especially given the international membership of the group.
I think to start I would do just one month as opposed to 5 in a row. And maybe we could find some way to expand the criteria to make it less constrictive (ex. European ex. English literature or something).
Also, any suggestions on how to manage and confirm eligibility? Looking for lists or something else that we could use to identify books as "German lit" or "Russian lit" or whatever else so that it's easy to nominate and easy to check which nominations actually fit within the criteria.

Asking the group here before making anything formal. Was thinking we could try the "themed" month for BOTMs again. This would be for March 2018.
What would everyone think about making the theme Non-Fiction? Some ideas for the classics category would be The Diary of a Young Girl, In Cold Blood, The Origin of Species. In the modern classic/popular reads category, there are so many I can't even list them here.
If people have other theme ideas, would love to hear them!
Thanks,
Kasey

Funny you mention this as I was just looking into how to do something like that, or if it was aggregated anywhere.
If you go to the bookshelf and click on the hyperlink "view activity", it sort of does this - shows all group discussions relating to the book and then group memebrs's ratings and comments... just doens't aggregate an average.

This is a catch-up book club, after all. For this category, you can nominate any book that the group has previously read. For a list of books that the group has previously read and discussed, please see the bookshelf.
The following books are NOT eligible as we have reread them as a group within the last twelve months:
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
I'll start off by suggesting a group read that I personally missed - Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

As a reminder, books that qualify for this category must have a publication date 1970 and after. If the book you wish to nominate was published 1969 or prior, please make your suggestion on the Classics thread.
I'll start off by suggesting The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

As a reminder, books that qualify for this category must have a publication date 1969 and before. If the book you wish to nominate was published in 1970 or after, please make your suggestion on the Modern Classics/Popular Reads thread.
Will start off by suggesting War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy.
