I definitely agree with you. It's a good book to read, if only university wouldn't bury me in work, so that I could actually read it:(

So, I don't know if Käthe Leichter was a Feminist, but I think so. She was conducting Research among working-class women, and that as early as before WWI:)
A contemporary woman I'd like to mention here is Betsy Driver, because she did so much and still does so much for the rights of Intersex People, and quite a few of them identify as "woman" themselves.
Another contemporary that I think really Needs to be included is Gloria Steinem, because, let's face it, where would we be without the face of second- (maybe third-) wave feminism:) She was at the Houston Conference in 1977, that alone is great:)

Sorry for any typos, using handheld.
I think JK was expressing her frustration at the neverending abuse directed at women, particularly th..."
Well, I'm not really Bible-stable, but if they try to attack my gay and intersex brothers and sisters, they will burn:) Such hypocrites. Say they are Christian and don't follow their own Scripture!

Sorry for any typos, using handheld.
I think JK was expressing her frustration at the neverending abuse directed at women, particularly those in politics.
What will be inter..."
Yeah, I'm not really a friend of the DUP, I gave this angry man a proper response back:

What they throw each other at their heads is unbelievable tho!

A few moments ago I was watching how many posts..."
Kelly, sociology is so GREAT! I mean, in my opinion it's the perfect thing to study if you're a feminist, and I can't wait to read all the great authors.
It's the thing to do really, oh, I learned so much! And OSS helped me as an example from time to time:)

How about "the Circle" have not been able..."
Yeah, that one has a good chance. Why do I have to live in Austria where it comes out on 15th of SEPTEMBER?! I can't imagine many will watch it, anyone who wants will have seen it otherwise.

Uh, makes me only more anticipate that movie. Can't wait for the 15th, when it comes out here in Austria:)

Say's it all really. For the record, I can't stand Mrs M..."
But she's right, isn't she? It's never okay to refer to a person like that... whether we agree with their political views or not.

I didn't know that test existed, yay!
And I agree with you, it's of no use to have a few people of colour in a movie when they just say a few lines (of course that depends also on the topic of the movie), and are left out otherwise:(
I wonder if Wonder Woman passes the Shukla test, it's a good chance it does!

Yeah, now I get you.
Music is, after all, the only language all of us can speak and understand. It builds bridges like nothing else. And context is very important, that indeed.

I'm more into classic music, sorry Winston. Like The Blue Danube or Scotland the Brave. Stuff like that:)
Although I do have a German rapper, I like her very much, although I don't know if she's doing Hip-Hop. I'm really bad at musics, sorry.

I actually really like your questions on female characters in literature. Because it gives not only the observers more to talk about, the characters personality is more brought to light.
But then, that doesn't make the Bechdel test wrong or incomplete, as you said, it is a minimum requirement for a movie, as you implied.
The Bechdel test is good as it is. Although I wish there were other tests to use on films, regarding ethnicity, religion, gender and sex.

I think the test is a tool and it can give us some perspective on female roles in movi..."
I am totally on the side of my two previous speakers, just because the movie passes or does not pass the Bechdel test does not tell us if it is feminist or antifeminist. (I've never seen Fight Club, so I can't speak for that, but if there is only one woman in there, it fails the test right from the start)

I have no idea what a "thot" is(English is my second language) , but these lyrics really are disrespectful towards women I think. I mean, the lyrics shout sex from beginning to end.
And I second James here, not my type of music anyway.

Can you give us a link? Because I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't know that song (perhaps for the better tho).

It's somewhat sad that there isn't any talk in here anymore, but it just feels so great to read this topic!

I totally second you on your last sentence, bloody nowadays radical feminists are so annoying.

You could always look in the meet-up section, or create a topic therefore. I really hope you find people for discussion.

The next step now is to really go into the details and work them out, as well as to get it to the people. I bought a t-shirt and stickers and hell yeah, I will run around with that all the time. I'm fed up with the government, they better work for us women, we elected them.

All i can say abou..."
May I just remind us all to behave ourselves?
