179584 Sounds worth reading. Maybe I have more luck with this one than with WWRWTW. I didn't even finish that one (yet).
Jun 25, 2017 11:36AM

179584 But that is why I talk about it.
Believe me, you're not in the minority not knowing about it!

I think you have maybe heard a word that is now considered a slur by many - hermaphrodite.

179584 My bad, I should have explained AIS:
stands for androgen insensitivity syndrome. Means the person is either completely or partially insensitive to male hormones. They look mostly female, and have XY chromosomes, which is the case in some other variations as well.

ln case you even obtain your medical records. It is common that doctors say they got lost or simply won't tell you the truth.
They call it a psychosocial emergency when an intersex child is born, not realising that it is a psychosocial emergency when that child actually discovers what was being done to them.
The doctors say that there's a higher risk of developing testicular cancer for example in women who have AIS. But then, me thinks: How high is the risk, and you, sex hormones have to do more than just be responsible for sex drive and stuff like that.

Nevermind scar tissue and a lot of other complications. It's so fucked up! (Sorry for bad language, but it makes me sick!)

Totally agree with this! We all have to choose our own priorities.

There is no need to attack MaryJane like that.

Woman! Ashna, do you want me to go by train for six hours? Even longer really, because the six hours are when you go from Salzburg:)

I don't think we'd have a problem with security, we don't have problems with terrorism (yet).

179584 Now, some resources:
https://oiieurope.org/malta-declaration/
This declaration is actually really important because the following statements further reaffirm it:
https://oiieurope.org/statement-1st-e...
https://oii.org.au/darlington-statement/

http://isna.org/
Now, the Intersex Society of North America does not exist anymore, but the website remains up as a historical fact. And since ISNA was the first community that did advocacy work on the grounds of sex characteristics, I think it is therefore alone worth keeping the website.
Now there is an organisation called InterAct, which works in the US, but there are many more:
OII Europe(with different sub-branches)
OII Australia
OII-USA

179584 So, the definition of intersex by the intersex community is something along those lines:

"a person whose sex characteristics do not typically fall within what society perceives as either male or female, this includes primary and secondary sex characteristics such as chromosomes, hormones, and anatomy"
Jun 24, 2017 04:03PM

179584 I intend this topic to be a kind of resource...
So, I was talking about intersex on some other topics already, but I want this to be some sort of "library".
If any of you have any additional information that you might think suits here - please feel free to share!

As usual, keep everything civil and refrain from hate speech.

Normally I don't read much, but I read everything in all the topics that I write in.
And I didn't read your comment as mansplaining. You just wanted to remind us of something:)

179584 "The Seven Daughters of Eve" is the first geneticist book that I ever read.

But I must disagree with you on the following:
I think it's horrible to check for the sexual history of a man or proof of treatment when it comes to STDs when it is for job applications or housing. That violates that person's right to patient confidentiality in my opinion. That's a serious issue.
And concerning Emma:

Well, because I'm a woman and since this topic is for men, I don't want to intrude with my blabbering. And why do you say "if it affects men it directly affects you." Not all things that affect men affect me.

I'd love to distribute books, I just need to order the stickers:)
Wait, was fortress the word I was looking for? In the military sense, yes, that was what I was looking for:)

Would bring me up there again, I haven't been up there since maybe elementary school. Or go to one of the other mountains and distribute them there....
