I'm in New Mexico so I know it gets to a lot of different places. I sell it at my work (World Market). They do a new beer for each new season of Game of Thrones and the newest one is out (I think) this week.
thoughts while reading:What happened to Lady Whent? Why would she leave her castle? I don't remember and I'm not sure if it's important or not...
"If she let herself forget even one of them, how would she ever find him again to kill him?" ← and thus Arya was set upon a vengeance path.
Is Arya the true ghost in Harrenhal or Jaqen H'ghar?

Hubby and I have been rewatching the show getting ready for season 6. We are currently almost done with season 3 (currently watching the Red Wedding episode actually). Has anyone tried the Game of Thrones beer from Ommegang?
thoughts while reading:Cersei kind of gets around with her family. lol
Tyrion is the best. He finds the best times to whip out what he knows and people are always so shocked to hear it from him. They are constantly underestimating him!
When are people going to learn that pulling out does not equate safe sex and you can still get pregnant? lol
"Sleep is good," he said. "And books are better." ← totally agree!
thoughts while reading:I wonder how/why Greywater Watch moves.
I feel like this will be a somewhat intense/informative chapter.
Jojen dream #1→ "...a winged wolf bound to earth with grey stone chains...a crow was trying to peck through the chains, but the stone was too hard and his beak could only chip at them."
What's a lizard-lion? a dragon?
Jojen dream #2→ "of you and your fosterling brothers (the Walders)... sitting at supper, but instead of a servant, Maester Luwin brought you your food. He served you the king's cut off the roast, the meat rare and bloody, but with a savory smell that made everyone's mouth water. The meat he served the Freys was old and grey and dead. Yet they liked their supper better than you liked yours."
"So long as there was magic, anything could happen. Ghosts could walk, trees could talk, and broken boys could grow up to be knights."
I'm almost 50% through and it's definitely getting easier to read. There seems (so far) to be a bit less battle and more intrigue which I like. How is everyone else doing?
thoughts while reading:"They shall come day and night to see the wonder that has been born again into the world, and when they see they shall lust. For dragons are fire made flesh, and fire is power."
She makes a point that the Seven Kingdoms are like her khalasar-how they are in pieces now that their respective leaders are dead. I wonder if that's how it'll be from here on out-showing two different paths torn kingdoms/groups can take. (if that made any sense....)
thoughts while reading:The Mountain is seriously evil.
"The direwolf was the sigil of the Starks, but Arya felt more a lamb, surrounded by a herd of other sheep."
I really hope Arya learns that she doesn't need a weapon to beat these people.
thoughts while reading:Lancel kind of got cocky/ballsy.
It's kind of nice seeing Tyrion and Cersei getting along for once. It is a bit weird at the same time.
I feel like Tyrion telling Alliser Thorne to bury their dead is one of the stupider moments he's had. For being as well read as he is, you would think he would have read/come across some of the stories about the wights/white walkers.
So we still don't know who poisoned Jon Arryn (they think it was his squire), but Pycelle definitely let him die on orders of the queen (maybe).
Currently I'm reading like 5 books. o.OA Clash of Kings
Matilda (but I keep leaving it at work)
The Night Circus (on audiobook)
Ten Tiny Breaths (ebook before bed)
and just started Afterworlds!
thoughts while reading:That's kind of messed up that Asha would trick Theon like that. I kind of like her though.
I kind of like how they do it differently on the Iron Islands. They honor strength over bloodlines. Bloodlines are not exactly the best-look at the Mad King and Joffrey.
"When my sons have struck their blows...." Lord Balon just called Asha one of his sons... lol
thoughts while reading:It's kind of creepy that Craster marries his daughters to make more daughters.
"What do free folk want with kings?"
I'm curious to know how many Starks Craster has seen to know that Jon 'has the look of a Stark'. I know he's seen Benjen, but is that all?
I wonder why Craster lied about seeing the wights and why he gives them his sons.
"We cannot set the world to rights. That is not our purpose. The Night's Watch has other wars to fight."
"Three hundred, thought Jon, against the fury of the wild."
I feel like there is real trouble brewing North of the Wall, but no one else but Mormont and the Night's Watch realize this. The others are just focused on their own little battles instead of the truly important war that seems to be coming.
thoughts while reading:Nothing good seems to come of heading South for any of the people from the North.
"Real enemies on every side and half the realm in flames, and Renly sits here playing at war like a boy with his first wooden sword." ← I agree that it's not the smartest idea for them to be hosting this tournament. It's tiring good fighters and I'm sure able bodied men die that they could use if there's actually a battle.
It's interesting that people are upset that Loras lost because it was a trick to pull him off his horse and yet Loras picked a horse in heat when going against the Mountain. Hypocrisy much?
"They are boys drunk on song and story, and like all boys, they think themselves immortal."
"Because they are the knights of summer and winter is coming."
I wonder where Barristan Selmy ended up.
In regards to reviews, I honestly very rarely read them. I'll look at friends' reviews sometimes, and if it's a book that none of my friends have read, I'll read reviews from almost every star rating. Typically though, I know what I like and will give almost any book a try and will only read the reviews after I've finished it.
Yeah there's 3 for each and your welcome! :)Wasn't sure where to talk about this, but does anyone watch You, Me, and the Apocolypse?
thoughts while reading:Rickon... :(
If the crannogmen rarely leave their lands, how do they know about the direwolves? Would they have been that talked about?
thoughts while reading:This wildfire sounds pretty intense!
So the Mad King was a child of incest (the Targaryen's wed brother and sister pretty often so I'm assuming this) and Joffrey is also the product of incest. I feel like that is why Joffrey is so crazy/unstable and kind of similar to the Mad King (from what we've heard about him).
If this cloak is so big on him and he as so much money-why not have it altered to fit him properly?
"That was the way of war. The smallfolk were slaughtered, while the highborn were held for ransom."
Cersei loves to slap Tyrion!
I love how sneaky Tyrion is.
It has been years since I've seen the movies, but the one thing I remember is that they are LONG. I think I liked them though. lolThey actually split the Hobbit book into 3 movies so yes! lol
