I get them from all over. When I have nothing in mind, I browse the bookstore/library for spines/covers that interest me and read the blurb to see if it's something I would enjoy. I will take books into consideration if I see them pop up quite frequently. I very rarely use the recommendations from Goodreads, but I do on occasion.
Oh yay!!! I'm still quite behind, but I will definitely be done in time to start the next book. I think this was a bit harder to get through compared to the first.
I love that image also. lol
thoughts while reading:"May the Others bugger your Lord of Light, and wipe his arse with that rag you bear." lol I think he may regret saying that.
This Cortnay Penrose fellow is snarky as hell and I kind of love it. He's definitely not afraid to speak the truth!
"I dream of it sometimes. Of Renly's dying. A green tent, candles, a woman screaming. And blood..... Devan says I thrashed and cried out, but what does it matter? It was a dream. I was in my tent when Renly died, and when I woke my hands were clean."
"I would say my parts are mixed, m'lady. Good and bad."
I really like Davos. I like that he questions things and tries to understand things even more than someone who probably has more education.
So Melisandre killed Renly? with a shadow?
That shadow baby thing is hella creepy!
thoughts while reading:Tyrion is so sneaky and I totally love it. I think it's awesome he's been so successful in deceiving his sister.
"Can she truly be so blind as to what he is?" ← I don't think so, personally.
And of course Joffrey overreacts. lol
Why does Clegane need to find that horse?
Poor Tyrion. I don't like that he's' being blames for something that was so not his fault.
thoughts while reading:I'm not quite sure who the Pureborn are... I don't recall them being mentioned before.
Quaithe seems like she is really important or someone to always listen to. She's so mysterious though!
"To go north, you must journey south. To reach the west, you must go east. To go forward you must go back, and to touch the light you must pass beneath the shadow." ← How did she determine it was Asshai?
thoughts while reading:So many think (myself included) that the direwolves were sent to the Stark children for a reason. I just wonder what that means for those Stark children who don't have their wolves anymore (Sansa and Arya).
"The gods don't care about men, no more than kings care about peasants."
I wonder why Ser Cortnay Penrose refuses to give up Robert's bastard son. If he served Renly... does he not trust Stannis?
thoughts while reading:I'm still curious why Arya doesn't give a more important name to Jaqen H'ghar. It kind of goes to show just how young she really is (I think).
I wonder why Weese is so scary that she wouldn't run away. Weese threatens (basically) sending those who rebel to others so why is HE scary? Why not be scared of the others?
thoughts while reading:I do kind of feel bad for Theon. He doesn't seem entirely committed to the Iron born kind of life.
I feel like he only decided to go after Winterfell because he was jealous of what orders his sister got-basically he's only trying to prove a point.
I'm so behind on A Clash of Kings >< lol I'm excited for the third book (it was my favorite the first time I read it) and I'm even more excited for season 6! Soon!
I so agree. I watched the show first and when I read the books I was somewhat shocked at how young some of these kids are when everything starts.
thoughts while reading:I wonder where Renly's corpse went!
"Joffrey is made of finer stuff." ← LOL!
I wonder why Littlefinger wants to go talk to the Tyrells.
Hmm, Cersei apologizing to Tyrion... that seems odd!
Apparently I wonder about a lot in this book! lol
For the most part, I agree with the Game of Thrones casting. It's hard to really say otherwise since they did age most of the kids in the show compared to the books. One that slightly bugs me is that Tyrion in the show is so put together whereas in the books he's a bit more disfigured/unsettling looking (if that makes sense). I do love Peter Dinklage and think he does an amazing job though!
thoughts while reading:I guess this was Jojen's first dream?
Jojen's newest dream: The sea is coming into Winterfell.
"A knight is what you want. A warg is what you are."
another Jojen dream: "I dreamed of the man who came today, the one they call Reek. You and your brother lay dead at his feet, and he was skinning off your faces with a long read blade." Something to do with the Boltons?
thoughts while reading:I'm curious why Ghost does not want to be within the stone ring at the stop of the Fist.
First mention of the comet in awhile! (That I've noticed at least.)
I wonder whose cloak this is! (possibly Benjen's? but then where did he get the dragonglass...)
I am personally going to watch season 6 as it airs. I know it could spoil things when the book finally comes out, but since they have already went so different from the books, it'll feel more like getting more information and seeing how things tie together before they happen in the books (if that made any sense).
thoughts while reading:I find it interesting that within the same few minutes she talks about how her father changed after her mother died and how she herself changed after Ned was killed.
Yeah, that was crazy! She better hurry back to Robb now that there is magic on the loose.
thoughts while reading:"Learn to use your ears more and your mouth less, or your reign will be shorter than I am." ← LOL @ Joffrey listening to anything Tyrion has to say.
She's starting to realize that knights are not like they are in the songs.
"Sorcery is the sauce fools spoon over failure to hide the flavor of their own incompetence." Tyrion seriously has the BEST lines.
thoughts while reading:"It would be no easy thing to forge a peace between these brothers...yet for the good of the realm, it must be tried."
I wonder why Stannis was rocking so many jewels with his weapons when the rest of his outfit was very very plain.
Stannis is super jealous! He's mad because he wasn't chosen to be Robert's Hand? Didn't Robert almost grow up with Ned since they were fostered together with Jon Arryn? more so than Robert and Stannis growing up together? lol
"You each name yourself king, yet the kingdom bleeds, and no one lifts a sword to defend it but my son."
So Stannis suspected this and then told Jon Arryn. I'm curious why Stannis suspected it?

I've only had a couple but yeah they're pretty good! This year's will be a hoppy blonde called Seven Kingdoms.
