177170 @Leslie: He really does! I think he's one of my favorites because of this. I love snark lol.
@Terry: I've technically read the first 3 books and I know it isn't really expanded on (that I've noticed) in those. I've also seen the show and it's not touched on. I wonder if it's just not important or if it'll be a big twist at some point.
177170 That's a valid point about how hypocritical Viserys is. I've never noticed that!
177170 That would be awesome! I've really been wanting to get my hands on that book but haven't yet. :(

177170 It definitely sets the scene as far as crazy level goes, but it intrigues you enough you can't not read it I think.

Theon does not like Jon.
I wonder why Ghost is so different from the other direwolves and if ts an important reason.
If Jon has more of the North is him could his mom possibly be from the North as well?
I like Tyrion. He is honest and kind of snarky!

So Greyjoy's Rebellion is a different event than when they went for the throne (and won). How much time passed between the two?
What did Ned promise Lyanna?
Apparently Robert doesn't entirely like his wife. lol
177170 Most definitely! That actor was able to pull of Joffrey so well. I think most of the casting is pretty spot on.
177170 I figured it had a lot to do with the two houses, but I find it odd that they already were thinking along those lines. I never really recalled that there was a major feud prior to the events in the books.

I wonder if/how much Viserys abused Daenerys.
Viserys is described as being twitchy and with him always on thinking they were being chased/followed he probably suffered from extreme paranoia.
It's odd how much Illyrio sweet talks Viserys. It almost seems like he's TOO hopeful (if that makes sense). Daenerys doesn't trust him so maybe?

I wonder who the Children of the Forest are. Especially versus the Others and the nameless gods Ned honors.
Why did they carve faces into the trees and are they all different?
Are their words the same when winter is already happening? Silly question I know. lol
177170 There are a lot of age differences from the story to the show. Most of the kids are made older, but it seems like Theon was aged down. In this chapter it says he's 19 but in the show (view spoiler)

Theon is kind of creepy-kicking a head?!
Ned is really honorable.
Why are all the grown men 'scared' of how this direwolf died?
Jon is kind of smart for his age-about the politics of his parentage at least!
Theon and Jon don't seem to get along at all. Theon seems to enjoy throwing little barbs at Jon.

177170 Just finished the prologue and I've forgotten how creepy it is! Royce was definitely pretty dumb and cocky.

Haha! He is awesome.

I don't even think I read Cersei's description because I was so annoyed at who I got. That was silly of me."

Yeah I saw I got Tyrion and didn't really read about it because I did think it was quite fitting-kind of a loner, bookworm, type person here! lol Also I tend to avoid my family and think they're crazy ;) lol

177170 Apparently I am Tyrion. lol

177170 I haven't started it yet. I've already read it, but I really want to re-read it. I plan on starting hopefully within the next couple of weeks!

177170 I most definitely agree! It definitely shows that age/lineage/etc. doesn't necessarily mean much.

177170 I'll be starting my re-read of this one in a few days! I'm pretty excited to discuss this with everyone. :)

177170 On the application it shows there is a Game of Thrones folder so if you start a new topic you may be able to add it to that folder.

177170 Will there be separate topics created for each book that way as we read, it will be easier to find the discussion for each particular book?
