152301 Yes, threads are for discussion, so if 50 persons read the same book, everyone can talk about it with the others :)
You can create your thread with your year plan in the "2015 plans" folder to keep track of your books.

152301 The Pillars of the Earth is sitting on my bookcase since some years. I succeeded to read 10 pages after buying it and put it away (forever). If you don't finish it for the 1st week, you can use it for the week 52 (book you never finished). Anyway, good luck :D

152301 Welcome!

Yes, the week will end wednesday ;)
For some long books, I'll start before and/or finish later, the weeks are just a schedule for me and will help to discuss the books. It's more a challenge about reading a lot of different books all the year than a book per week, important thing is to have fun.
152301 How is the book for those who didn't started it before last year? :)

After a nice journey on the snow, more interesting than expected, I've just returned to the south for a Sansa chapter. I'm a little afraid, I'm pretty sure Joffrey will be around and as I can't punch him in the face, it won't make the chapter better.

152301 Haha, Clash of Kings on week 52 :D I'm finally trying to finish it (it's my week 1 book), 2 years after starting it. Good luck on this :p

The Vampire diaries is not a bad idea for the love triangle week. I've the 1st book but didn't read it for the moment. Maybe I'll join you but nothing sure.

152301 Some people will enter the maze for their trilogy. I hope they won't be disappointed by the first story...

I continued slowly the book, so I'm near the end. I run on a passage where the author explains a little why the boys are in the maze, I found it pretty interesting but to summarize: it was not enough!
I don't know if he will add more information on the last 10%, but if not, I will have to read the other books because I'm currently frustrated by this part of the story (or in fact by the absence of this part of the story).

Richard > Maybe being a teen help a little as it's a YA book and some really fit in this category.
I agree, the lost of memories is an important part for the character development, but their personalities appear quickly so it's not really a limitation for me.
The first action scene in the labyrinth was good, but the following action scenes are too short for me, a little more development could be nice as the rest of the book is more about talking (as they never say something interesting, it's frightening :p).

152301 Hello Jody, edit your post to add the week for the book or tell me when you want to read it and I'll add the week ;)

152301 South of Darkness
Sea of Death (there are several books with this title)
Sword of Damocles (same)

Maybe we could do a game with the "I give you the summary of a well known book, tell me the title" ;)

152301 About the author: she wrote mainly as a roleplaying game writer. I think it helps a lot to add good action scenes, the beginning is really well paced and I like the hero.

Summary:
Irene is a professional spy for the mysterious Library, which harvests fiction from different realities. And along with her enigmatic assistant Kai, she's posted to an alternative London. Their mission - to retrieve a dangerous book. But when they arrive, it's already been stolen. London's underground factions seem prepared to fight to the very death to find her book.

So, this is not a comedy book, it's a fantasy one. But it seems the author has the same crappy humor than me, so I laughed 5 times reading the 24p of the preview. I don't know if I'll laugh during the rest of the story, but I'm sure I already laughed more than all the other books I can read (I don't laugh with Pratchett, I only smile, so good luck to find something better :p).

Example from the book, if you find it funny, you can go read the sample:

"There she is!" the blond one declared, pointing a finger at Irene.
"Don't be stupid, that's one of the servants", the dark-haired one said, demonstrating the advantage of stealing books while dressed as a servant.

152301 I saw the movie a loooong time ago. It's a classic. I don't remember it, just the name ;)

152301 The Story of Helen Keller is a nice idea! Sadly I already read it :p I've a hard time finding non depressing books for the true story and non-fiction categories :(

High Fidelity is the only story book I didn't read (and own) from Nick Hornby :p I don't know how this one is but I like a lot how he writes his characters, they feel really true for me. I hope it's a good read ^^ I'll read is new one for the "book you didn't read from one of your fav author".

Yey Dragon Wing :D It's not the best of The Death Gate cycle cause the best characters don't appear a lot but you'll have a taste of the world and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as me :)

152301 Yesterday, I read a preview which made me laugh 5 times (it's a fantasy book so it was unexpected + I'm a "funny=smile" person for books). I'll open a thread for it later, hoping people who are not interested in comedy will have a look at the preview and maybe find it funny too :)

152301 I read mostly ebooks but sometimes I buy or borrow paper ones :)

The french policy about ebooks is sometimes crazy, like selling the ebook at 15€ when the paper book costs 8€, or forbidding to gift ebooks. So I don't read in french (US prices are obviously more interesting) and I use the previews to be sure I'll like the book. I buy few ebooks at the full price, I often use sales or read free stuff.

I like to collect paper children books and comics I loved, so I buy them at the book store or online :)

152301 Unfinished books are like little ghosts haunting me: "reaaaad a few more pages, the story will become gooOoOd sooOoOon" :p
All I can say is that with Goodreads and other review websites, I choose carefully what I read, so there is always a story I like in the book. But sometimes, the pace is too slow, the characters boring or the writing not so good, so it's challenging to reach the end even if I'm interested in the story.

Before having a smartphone, I did my choices only on cover and summary and I ended giving some books because I failed to read more than 50 pages. Same for the books family or friends lent me, if I don't enjoy them, I don't finish them ;)

Michelle > Maybe reading many books at the same time is my superpower? :D

Luisa > Yey, Hiccup is awesome lovely. I watched the 2nd movie some days ago, so I decided it was time to try the books. Very different but I totally love children stories and How to Train Your Dragon is a good one. I'll read all the books this year :)
152301 It's the most crazy book I read, I don't really understand how it succeeded to be published at that time.
Wait to read the passage where Alice is asking herself who she is. I think the author was on drugs, I can't see another explanation :D

152301 *sigh* I've a hard time finding a book really funny with a story I want to read :S
I tried some "funny" book beginnings and didn't see where the fun was.
Maybe I'll re-read some Pratchett, I'm sure he will succeed to make me smile.

152301 Several of us we'll read Elantris (for weeks 1 and 15), it seems that Sanderson is quite popular here :)

152301 I think I'm currently reading 5 books. When I read a non interesting one, I start a new book to cheer me up (I read for pleasure and 2-3 stars books really don't fit in this category but I'm trying to finish them).
So currently, I'm reading 3 'bad/boring' books, I'll finish them today or tomorrow as I'm at more than 80% and, since yesterday, I'm treating myself with the 1st How to train your dragon and I'll finish it today because I'm liking it a lot :D

I've no problems switching worlds, characters and stories. I can take the 'switch every chapter' road without getting lost :)
