152301 Haha, my mom hasn't the same tastes as me for books, but reading you I'm just happy she at less likes thrillers :p I was thinking to cheat a little and go with Arsenic and old lace for this one, as she really liked the movie and I'm curious about the book. If I don't succeed to find it, I'll read a thriller author she likes.

I don't think the Gunslinger is the best way to discover King, as for me it's one of his average book, but well, I totally love the 2 next books of the Dark Tower and this one is short. I hope you'll like it enough to continue the serie :)
152301 68. Last year, I used my age for the challenge and ended up with more readings because I add comic books to my list. For 2015, it will be the same, but as there are the 52 RC books, I decided to aim twice my age :)

152301 Ok thanks, I agree most of the time books are better :)

152301 Regina, I'll speak just for myself, but I don't eat people, so fear me not :)
I hope you'll enjoy your time here and feel free to be as active as you want.

Welcome to everybody :)

152301 Okay, I read and finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy when I was twelve years old and since re-read it several times. I'm feeling like a freak :p

I re-re-re-read few books: The death gate cycle (every 2-3 years, cause I miss the characters so much), LoTR (maybe every 5 years) and the 1st 3 books of the Dark Tower (2nd & 3rd ones are kind of perfect stories for me). This year I will re-read books I liked but don't remember well as I read them 3-4 years ago.
Ok so now, I want to re-read my fav >__< Evil discussion!

152301 I never read it too and it won't be for 2015, so don't feel embarrassed ;)

152301 What a bad punishment :D "Go to your room and read wonderful books full of great adventures". I need someone to punish me every day, it will help me to complete the challenge.

I'm studying ecology. It's really time to save the Earth, so I want to help a little :D

152301 I saw bad books with 500 pages, I'll never succeed to finish something like this. I'll tell you if I find a funny bad short book :)

Maybe you are aiming for books older than mine so it's more difficult to find them?

152301 Great to see a Robin Hobb's book, she's a great writer and I didn't see her often in the different plans :)

152301 Wow, it's so funny to use upper case letters for each word in a title!
Ok, no, I'm joking, it's one of the weird things you have to learn when you're writing in a foreign language.

My surname is Zaz, I'm 34 years old, I live in France and I'm currently student again. I've finished with the boring presentation part, lucky you!

I like to read since my childhood (I was the "no I don't want to go outside/come to eat, I'm currently in a book" type) and discovered an all new world when I started reading in english. There are some french authors I like, but there is more english stuff and translations are not the best way to discover all the writers' qualities.
Goodreads was an obvious choice for me, to keep track of my books and to wander to find new stories/authors.

I'm glad I saw the group on Popsugar and as it is a friendly one, I think it will fulfill all I want for this type of adventure. This reading challenge will help me read more and read out of my (currently dystopian) comfort zone.

Jessica asked me to become moderator assistant, I'm not sure you'll survive, but well, you have no choice, so you'll have to read all the silly things I want to say (sometimes in bad english, but I'm trying to improve my writing, so I hope nobody will loose his/her eyes reading me).
Feel free to send me some messages if you need something or have a question ;)

Good reads :)

152301 About finding the books: I read mostly in english, so it helps a lot. I read mainly ebooks now, so it helps more. Of course, sometimes I can't find the book I want (Fairytales for Wilde Girls I'm looking at you T_T) so I'm really disappointed, it's really hard to find the ones which aren't written by english/US writers!

The book with bad reviews is a hard one. I want one which is so bad that I'll laugh all along, I don't want one which is boring. I'll see what the others will decide to read and maybe I'll find something with less than 200 pages.
For Christmas, I'll do the same, but I've an escape plan with Hogfather by Pratchett. I already read it, so I want to find something else.
For the memoir, I'll read the book about Steve Jobs :)

152301 How is a the book compared with the movie? :)
Jan 01, 2015 04:51AM

152301 Britteny, I think many people here are reading books from the Goodreads choice awards as it's an easy way to discover books enjoyed by readers. There are many classics too (not as "old ones" but as "everybody read this book"), I know I started catch up on these some years ago (classic french books are somehow mostly depressing, so I was totally happy when I started to read the english ones :D). It will be nice to discover new books and you can always change your mind if a book seems interesting for you :)
152301 I'll read it too. It's an easy choice for me as I've the complete Sherlock stories on ebook and I'd already read the two 1st stories.

152301 Don't worry for the comic book week, there will be some people who read them (I'm one of them ^^), so you'll have enough advices to find something you can enjoy.
Jan 01, 2015 04:28AM

152301 Same book for the "play week" for the moment, but maybe I'll changed my mind.
Nice choice for the comic book, it's a must have about Batman :)
Jan 01, 2015 04:22AM

152301 Oh, you had an usual idea for the "non-human book"! I liked the story (but I don't remember it).
I'm happy there are readers who will follow Peter Pan's story, I hope you'll enjoy it :)
Dec 31, 2014 05:44PM

152301 It's in my to-read list as I've heard good things about it too :) I'll see if I've enough time to read it this year.
Dec 31, 2014 05:42PM

152301 Some of us will read it for the "title with antonyms" week.
I'm looking forward to your opinion on this one :)
Dec 31, 2014 05:26PM

152301 Don't mess with the clown, keep reading ;)
I didn't read this one, but I'm sure it's a great book (King is kind of my comforting writer, which is a little weird).
