Also, there are some books that I decided I was never going to read and just took them off my pile. That's always an option for those books you just can't face.
I have that problem too - my reading tastes change by the time I get around to reading what I bought. My ultimate goal is only to buy a book when I'm ready to read it right away. It's really hard to wait while I'm still digging through my TBR pile, but I'm doing better this year. I think I've only bought 3-4 books so far. It helps that I can still explore new books on Goodreads without committing to them irrevocably. Then if I lose interest over time, it's no big deal.
Maris, the first time I did this challenge, it completely changed how I buy books. I was frustrated by many of the ones I already had, but that really helped me regulate myself better for the future. Don't know if that gives you any hope or not. :)
The only other one on your list that I've read is the Pern series by Anne McCaffrey. I did enjoy it, but it's a bit dated, the first book especially.
The Wheel of Time is amazing, but definitely takes a commitment. It is loooong, and for a couple of the later books, it simply slows to a crawl. It's such a rich, well-developed world, though. That's one reason it's slow, because you're just hanging out in this incredibly detailed world. There are lots of minor characters, but the main ones are easy to keep track of. There are four POVs in the first book, and then a couple new ones get added later. I've read all but the last three Sanderson-authored ones multiple times - love them. If you can do epic, it's worth the investment.

Trisha, all I remember about The Mill on the Floss is hating the ending!Kathy, we moved to themes instead of genres this year so just go with that instead. This month's theme is animals or rebirth.
I actually think I'm going to go with Voldemort for this one. I still need to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for my series re-read.
Thanks for all the ideas! Some potentials on my list: Redwall
Watership Down
The Hound of the Baskervilles
I finished my 2nd book last night, Owl and the Japanese Circus. Congrats to everyone on achieving so much through the readathon!
