118012 Do personal challenges count as mini-challenges, or are those considered general books?

I might even join you. :P"

I'm game - anyone else want to?
118012 I think I'm going to join several of you and switch my choice to Love in the Time of Cholera. I want to read one that's actually set in South America, plus my brother has been wanting me to read this forever.
118012 I would have liked to read The House of the Spirits but it's not available in ebook format yet. I'm going to substitute Island Beneath the Sea by the same author since I can get it from my library.
Island Beneath the Sea by Isabel Allende

Ok! I'll keep my eye out for this one to resurface. I'm hoping that reading award winners will force me out of my comfort zone with some good quality books. :)

Nice job on 81 books last year! I like the sound of the "hoarder's challenge." I think I'm going to create my own bigger hoarder's challenge for books bought before Jan 1, 2015.

But I will also participate in the 2015 version of this mini-challenge - aiming for 12 books bought before Jan 1, 2014! I'll be keeping track in my personal challenge folder.

January 2015 update - I read 4 books that I purchased before 2014. Yay!

February 2015 update - 5 more books down!

March 2015 update - 1 book read

April 2015 update - 2 books read - challenge complete!

I think that sounds fair. I have plenty of books to choose from that fit the bill!

118012 I just joined the group, and just found this thread. My main challenge this year is to make a dent in my owned books. I did a TBR challenge last year that worked really well for me. The rules were that I had to have owned the book before Jan 1st of the current year for it to be eligible. That's a bit different than the rules for this one, but I'd be interested in joining the challenge whichever way you guys are doing it.

Thanks, Camille. Good luck to you, too!

118012 Hello! I was already planning some personal challenges before I saw this group, and thought it looked perfect for helping me stay on track. My main challenges are going to be for reading books that I already own, as well as making progress with series I've started, but I'm also looking to expand my horizons a little, so I'm planning to join some of the mini challenges.

Is there any way to create more challenge widgets?? They are really cool.

118012 Challenge 1: Book Hoarder Challenge

My main challenge for the year is to read as many of the books I already own as possible. Last year I managed 92. This year, I'm aiming for 48 to allow room for other challenges and for group reads.

I need to average 4 per month to stay on track. To count for this challenge, I must have purchased 3 of the books at least a month before. Books that I DNF do count for this challenge because they are off my TBR list at that point.

My shelf for this challenge is here: 2015 Book Hoarder Challenge.

I am also counting books purchased before 2014 towards the TBR Pile 2015 Mini-Challenge.
