118012 I finished reading The Likeness by Tana French, which is a murder mystery set just outside of Dublin. It was very good. A bit bleak, which is usually a turnoff for me, but well written.

Karen, the key is to read something that is a treat for you. As long as one of those books qualifies as something you've been looking forward to reading, I think that would be ok.

118012 I'm reading a historical fantasy series, Crown of Stars by Kate Elliott. It's set in an alternate Medieval Europe, but with women as the main power in the Church, and with some truly matriarchal cultures. There are several very strong female characters with primary points of view.

I'm really close to finishing the 5th book, The Gathering Storm. I started it last month, but it definitely applies to this theme. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys both historical fiction and fantasy, especially those that are intricate (and sometimes slow but worth savoring).
