I read The Firebird, which ended up including the Russian Tsar Peter the Great and the Empress Catherine. I also read The Midnight Rose, which ended up being about Indian royalty. So two unplanned books in the theme.I also just finished Her Royal Spyness.
It's true that October fits better for creepy in the western world, but not everyone in the group is from this region.
Both Her Royal Spyness and The Demon King are on my Dust the Shelf challenge list, so I might try to tackle one of them this month. Other possibilities from my shelves are:
A Court of Wings and Ruin
The Willful Princess and the Piebald Prince
The Orphan Queen
Oath of Fealty
The Trouble with Kings
This month's theme is Royalty. This can be what we traditionally think of (kings, queens, princes, princesses, and their equivalents in other cultures), including fairy tale or fantasy versions. It can also be taken more loosely to include modern renditions such as movie stars, athletic stars, etc. Fiction or nonfiction.
What are you reading?

We'll do something a little bit different with the theme challenge in August. There are several months that had popular choices that didn't win, and we're going to give those themes another chance. How to nominate: From the themes below, please list up to two that you would like to see included in this month's poll. Nominations are open until Tuesday, July 18th.
