118012 Great reading, Kassandra! You've got a great list there. Can't wait to hear your views on some of those reads!

I might have to check out Jack of Diamonds due to your comments!

I'm the exact same, Narin. I feel guilty reading anything vaguely unknown. There are too many classics to get through!

118012 Hey, calm it down, guys. This group is meant to be supportive and encouraging of people's achievements and goals, so if you could keep the negative comments and arguing to a minimum.

I can't stop you arguing, but if you could please leave it to more private means, that leaves Narin's thread for her books and films.

118012 I'm half and half, Chase. Depending on the book, I'll meticulously research it, or I'll go in completely blind.

Going into books blind can really provide some spectacular surprises!

118012 Just finished Catch-22. Was pleasantly surprised!

Seeing as I've read 3 books for the historical genre, I'm doing far better than I thought I would!
118012 Just finished this, and really enjoyed it. I was expecting to really hate it, and it pleasantly surprised me!

I'll post some more concise thoughts tomorrow considering its now 11pm...
118012 Mrs Dalloway is a fantastic novel, but be warned. If you don't like stream of consciousness writing, any Virginia Woolf novel certainly isn't it you.

When you get round to reading it, let me know what you think of Stonewall. I've been meaning to read some LGBT lit, and I'm just not sure where to start!
118012 I'm currently studying English Lit too, and hoping to start a degree in it in September. Luckily, many of the 'big books' pushed onto us are ones I really want to read, so it suits me perfectly.

I'm just over half way through, and it's great to find another person who feels the same way about it!

118012 Luffy, how about we don't do an official buddy read, but when we both finish it in our own time, we can talk about it over PM.

That stops the pressure of finishing it quickly. We can just talk about it when we're both done?

118012 I'm guessing you like murder mysteries then, Michael? :D

118012 Good luck, James! 32 films, all at the cinema, is going to cost a pretty penny, but there will be some really good films out, I'm sure!

118012 I thought something brighter might be better for the new year!

118012 I've heard great things about The Other Boleyn Girl too, I just think I will like The Cousin's War era better. I'll definitely try it out, I'm just wary of the time period in which it is set.

Pretty good so far."

Ah, I love Hitchhikers. Probably the funniest (and most random) book I've ever read!

Tess of the d'Urbervilles has been on my to-read list forever, I've just never pushed myself into reading it. Hardy's always interested me, I just haven't got round to reading any of his books.

I actually have Jamaica Inn out on loan from my school library. I'm yet to read it, but it's sitting on my shelf waiting. I definitely want to read more of her works, it's just finding them!

118012 Generally a separate thread is made in the Buddy-Reads section, once people have agreed, and a start date has been set up. Quite often, two people agree, then more jump on board. So a thread makes the read more accessible.

118012 I only have a tiny one, locally, but my school one is decent enough.

That's the one good things about reading a lot of classics, most of them are free on Kindle!

118012 Honestly, none at all. I'll probably do some research right before I read it, just so I have a small idea.

Edit: We could do a buddy-read if you want. Would be quite interesting!

118012 I really want to read Anna Karenina too!

118012 I'm a bit of both really. I'll quite often find a classic on goodreads, then see if it's in my school library. Considering it has such a good range of classics, it's rare that it doesn't have the book I want.

I'd use my local library more (although I do volunteer there every week), it just doesn't have many classics, which probably make up for 90% of my reading. There are a few I would love to take out though, so hopefully I'll use it more soon.
