111707 Yeah, I noticed xD

I meant to say "My antagonist is influenced from some anime villains." But Nelly ain't an angelic protagonist either. Everyone's a bad guy/gal in his/her own way. :3

I didn't sleep well because my roommate likes to stay up later than I do. I didn't have any coffee or tea yet.

I guess that would depend how close to the window and if it's open or not. xP

We just include traits of people we know because we have seen the traits firsthand, so we can describe them better. :3

I hope to get my first chapter (and possibly the prologue) up within a few weeks. :D

111707 lol! That's not how I made my character. That's just an example of what may have sparked a character idea. :3

There's a reference to Nelly's bad mother. Bad moms are fun to add to stories. xD

It's great pulling the traits we like and dislike from people we know. :3 Writing's a great way to inflict karma.

---

Nelly from the Scarlet Ribbon was originally just a character I made a victim for the short story version. But when I visited New York City and read/edited articles by this girl on the newspaper who was interested in fashion and a guy on the paper telling me I should be a fashion designer, that's when Nelly 'boomed' into more of a character. Her inability to concentrate on art with just a bit of noise comes from yours truly because that's how I am with writing.

My protagonist is influence from some anime villians and myself. I don't want to give too much away. I have weird-looking, bony fingers, so I gave them to him. :3

111707 I thought of this while walking to supper last night. It's funny that questions pop into my head before and after meals. xD

Think of your current work-in-progress novel or something very recent.
-> Where did your protagonist come from? How did he she/he pop into your head when you began putting your story together? What about your antagonist? Or another very important character you totally adore in your story who isn't the protagonist or antagonist?

Just tell us where one to three of your top novel characters originated in your thoughts.

Did you hold a door open for a lady and she didn't even thank you and think: "Hey, she could be my protagonist?" :3

111707 @Livi - For me story-planning (I love filling up random types of sheets with notes) and writing a first draft is a pleasure, but when it comes to editing it drives me crazy. xD

@Dolapp - It's difficult juggling writing and depression. I have similar struggles at times. But when I get really engaged in story-planning and my brain conjures something that clicks loudly, it bulldozes the depression off the cliff.

111707 Powers come from our imagination #OnlyInWriting. :D

But explanations are nice if you have a scientific-ish mechanism behind it.

111707 I agree a British cast would be better. :3

I must go against the American norm because I'm the most reserved person I know. xD

L and his assistant Watari are British (L may be half Japanese, too--I don't know) so a British cast would fit them well. x3

111707 There is power in the unknown, so it doesn't bother me. :3
111707 A story's often fiction with some autobiographical segments.

111707 No doubt :3

It seems that mainstream media ain't into anime stories very much, so we'll be all right.

(But I do want a North American or Brtish version of the Death Note movie, though--a plan's been on people's heads for years now.)

111707 @Bisky - Pinecone has a nice feel too it :3 Red's my favorite color, and I happen to like the word, too. I like red things x3 Favorite anime hair color, too xD

@Adam - The word fits him perfectly. haha The more spit, the more powerful. I actually picked up that word from Bill O'Reilly on The O'Reilly Factor--I watch that show a couple times a week. He also uses 'loon' a lot, so that's where I picked up those words. haha

111707 The writing may need to be redone, but you can still salvage the ideas. :3 Typos are all right on forums x3

It seems nowadays that demonic/ghostly possession is the fad. My story involves a demon... *rubs finger on the wall that makes pencil eraser sounds* mainstream media leave us alone. haha xD

111707 My favorite words are confines, pinheads, loons, and red. xD

Sorry, mine are boring. lol

111707 I like how mainstream fiction media can make us deviate from our original thoughts, but usually for the better. :3

I was going to add that the story would probably make a better anime than a novel, and you thought similarly. :3

But the idea of changing a vampire into something else. I'll keep that in mind. x3

111707 Bare tree limbs make wonderful photographs when the sky is colorful with sunset clouds/etc.

Baltimore seems like it's alive itself. I like that. :3
Sep 16, 2013 09:36AM

111707 At least you were able to salvage your ideas from that. :3 It's a foundation. An epic sounds intriguing!
I live on my uni's campus, but sometimes I drive home which is about 1.5 hours away on weekends. :3

----

I wrote a novel from 2008 to early 2010 (back and forth with my other series that I plan to redo) called His Blood

It's about a Japanese boy named Taro Zaronoshi (I know the last name probably even Japanese--I just made it up.) and a vampire girl named Avilynn. She's a princess from a vampire kingdom hidden in the higher elevations of the U.K called "Albion." She flees from the kingdom to Japan and falls in love with Taro--and when a vampire falls in love with a human, she/he becomes addicted to that person's blood. All other blood is rejected. Plus there are demon monsters that attack. They are vampires that are improperly buried. I can't remember the details because it's been over three years since I had that story up. Also I got werewolves and vampires mixed up--because the crescent moon is very significant to this vampire kingdom.

With the whole Twilight craze, I kind of abandoned the story. But maybe someday I'll 'reboot' it because I love my character Avilynn. :3 She has pigtails! xD

111707 @Rick - We read the old English versions. The teacher also gave as a copy with more modern English, but she asked us to read the old English version first. We read some of the tales in high school, too, but it was int he more modern English. :3

111707 I didn't work night shifts often when I worked at fast food, but on weekends, I worked early morning shifts. During those shifts, I planned lots of scenes. :3

@Valerie - I entertained myself by creating stories, too, but in my case I think it's because I'm not much of an outgoing person. xD It's great to come out into the open. :3 I'm very secluded with my writing, too, but starting to be more open.

111707 I thought of this during my 1.5-hour drive back to university.

Many of us probably started writing stories in the past and eventually gave up on them.

Give us a brief summary of your abandoned story. Maybe include what drove you not to finish it. Are there pieces you salvaged and placed into another story?

Maybe this can motivate you to go back to past stories. :D
111707 I haven't been to nearly as many places as Hamilton, but my current novel takes place in my hometown. :3 Much of the second act takes place in New York City, but I've been there before. That's what motivated me to take my characters there. :3

I was on the school newspaper, so some of my characters are on a paper and because of their involvement they go on a New York City trip--like I did. Plus my artistic interests are included in my story, too--Nelly likes to draw and Vladimir (my male lead) likes to write. I like to do both. :3
