111707 I think I now understand how the new healthcare reform law reached over 20,000 pages. Aliens wrote it!

So I now believe that America has had contact with aliens.

111707 I had oodles of fillers in my old stories, and I think they are what made editing dreadful. lol

There's a section in the second book of my old story where the main female OC's old friend (who we just meet about 75 pages earlier) dies and I spend the next 100 pages (30,000-ish words) in a flashback of her experience with him. xD Yeah, fillers in a novels are killers lol

I thought of doing that subheading concept, but by putting the date.

Chapter One
"quote that can be used as a chapter title" "It's shameful what happened last night"

Monday, August 23

--something like that, but with 'pretty' formatting haha

In anime, I guess fillers are all right if the new concept/problem is interesting. The Bount Arc in Bleach was beyond awful, but the one with the defying zanpakutos was all right. :3 - just as long as the fillers don't last for over a year! haha

111707 @Stephanie - I love that name Desi. :3 I met many people who wanted to be a character in my story, but I guess your husband shows that not everyone wants to be a character xD

@Jonah - I bet those in the club will be or are thrilled that your being with them inspired you to write a story! It must've been beneficial getting a stripper's point of view rather than interpreting what we see on the news/etc. :)

111707 @Ren - When I visited my aunt and my cousin (who was probably 4 or 5 then) I got up early to do some writing, and then when they woke up, I couldn't get anything done haha

@Jennifer - haha, I was joking. lol Yep, I know the 'junior high' feeling. :3

111707 Those types are very deserving of death, but I'm not sure if this guy will receive such a fate. :/

111707 @J - I've left rooms before, too so I could keep writing. xD
@ Bisky - I don't think I could get anything done that way haha :3
@ Bitten Jewels - Thanks! I've been feeling all right for a couple days--still recovering. xD The other night I spent an hour at night filling up a white board in a classroom with notes. Sometimes when I'm sick, I end up just thinking about writing a little, and I ended up figuring out a few things to help out the plot. :3
@Jennifer--Reading your comment makes me never want to have kids. lol :3
@Topaz - If she's screeching, I guess her music isn't any good. lol Maybe when she improves then you can stand listening to her play when you write. :3

111707 Morgan Freeman! (I figured someone else would've put him :P )

111707 Lovecraft: They stole my word! lol

111707 I really hated it when they added that facebook pop sound. That's why sometimes I just do some handwriting on the patio with no electronic gizmos around.

I've been awake, but not operational. xD

111707 Not this jerk. He's one of those do-as-I-say-or-I-will-tell-everyone-the-dark-truth-you-have jerks. :3

Twisted brains are a blessing! :3

111707 I would like to visit with Ernest Hemingway and discuss the iceberg concept with him. :3
Oct 04, 2013 05:47AM

111707 Similar happened with me. I needed a character just to be a jerk for a scene or two, but now he's a jerk throughout the whole story. :3

111707 Unwanted noise definitely kills my muse. Also the thought of having to go somewhere undesirable later in the day kills my muse, but the primary killer of my muse is when my splicer enzymes cannot withstand all the viruses attacking my cells. I was sick for the past week, and it's just very hard to function. Even reading is hard--thinking is hard.

And when I'm burned out.

111707 @Jaeme - Do the 16th century narrative events coincide with the 20th century events? What happens in the 16th affects the 20th? or something like history repeating itself?

@Christie For a moment I considered developing 'stuff' to happen during that time, but I don't want any fillers. haha! Just have enough information so the reader isn't lost in the setting. :3

111707 I don't like telling my readers everything, either. I read the Hunger Games book before I saw any movie clips of it, and I actually liked the arena better in my head. (I have only seen trailer clips, but from seeing those, I still like my mental version better-haha) :3

I tried that Pinterest and put a cast together for my story. :3 http://www.pinterest.com/josuelight/

Putting this list together helps push the anime pictures out of my head lol

111707 @ Carry - In my old story there were some scenes that were hard to write. Killing off a character is tough. In my current story, I feel bad for what happens at the end. Punishment for a big, big misunderstanding or deception. :(

@ J. - Did all this happen with Heather's mother and her 'beating boyfriends' in the story or before the story and appear in flashbacks?
Oct 01, 2013 05:39AM

111707 Yeah, true. Maybe it would be probably be best just to have a sentence or two that describes the time change. 'Nelly and Vladimir spent Thanksgiving break on campus. The Monday afterward arrived, and during her classes, Nelly could only think of her acceptance letter arriving in her mailbox.." I don't know something like that maybe? lol

111707 I know some of you write stories in fantasy worlds where there aren't any colleges. But let's say your characters are going to college or to a university. What would your main characters major in? What would their dream jobs be? Would he be a teacher, a doctor, or a pastry chef? Would she be an engineer? Or would he get a Master's Degree in Duct-Tape tearing. Do you think the leader in your guild in your fantasy world would make a great hair stylist? :3

111707 Yeah, she/he probably thinks, "GAHH he did all that work and he's just giving it up!!" lol - Even if something you write for a while doesn't turn into a full-blown story, it's still practice. No writing is wasteful...except maybe business writing. haha

111707 @Samuel - If you're used to a font, it becomes easier for you. :3 - I wrote my first novel in TNR because I was used to it from using it for school papers.

@Tim - I like that about Courier, too. Now when you edit in Arial, do you print it out an edit or do you edit on screen? :3

Serif fonts like Times New Roman look better in print while San Serif fonts like Ariel look better on screen.
