111707 Thanks for the tips, everyone. :3 I was using the big whiteboard in my residence hall and put up a timeline and was thinking, "Golly, there's a big gap" xD But now I feel more comfortable with what I have planned. I considered spacing the events a little more, but that just didn't feel right, so I'll keep the big gaps. :3

Murder, murder, murder... then a gap...

The gap would be a period of 'solace' I guess, so I skip it. The only exciting part within the gap is my character receiving a letter from a fashion institute that declares if she's accepted or not. :3

...then another gap and finally murder, murder, murder. The end. yay!

I guess you can kind of paraphrase what happens during those periods. Like so and so passed her classes, wrote an x amount of stories for the paper... stuff like that.

111707 I agree with G.G., you should do that, J. But make sure 'Once Upon' fits the story. :3 Maybe they wondered if someone was using that title, too, and Google-ed it.

111707 So I'm trying to revamp my plot during my second edit. The first chunk of the novel starts in August and goes through maybe early October, than I plan to skip to early December for a bit, then the last chunk of the story takes place in March.

Does that seem acceptable for a story? Having time gaps like that?

What is your opinion? Harry Potter books cover an entire school year, so I guess it's okay? :3
111707 Sometimes I eavesdrop on others' conversations while eating in the cafe on my campus. It gets interesting. lol - or even hearing my room/suite-mates talk to each other. xD

111707 @Kamil - I don't like wasting food either, but sometimes I waste a little because I get a sick feeling.. *slaps myself*

I guess she can't tell him why she's irritated because then she would have to admit a secret of hers. :3

@Jennifer - I can relate to Cam when talking to someone you like. D8 lol

111707 I have more creative self-esteem in writing stories and speech-giving though. :3 lol

Drawing can drive me nuts at times because I'm 1/2 blind in my left eye, so things look different when you flip them... good thing there's a function in my drawing program on the computer that allows me to flip my picture so I can see it looks good either way.

111707 @Bisky - That's a habit I've training myself to overcome.

@AJ - Times New Roman makes me think of the papers I have to write for English classes in MLA format.

111707 I wrote my first novel on an old recliner in my bedroom. I really don't have a favorite writing place any more. That's some place I'm trying to locate. In the summer 2010, I went to McDonalds and wrote before going to work in the morning and sometimes late at night.

111707 Carry - I thought about using my laptop for notes in class, but I wonder if it's distracting for others. The professor of the only English class I have this semester doesn't allow laptops in class for note-taking because she may think we're browsing on Facebook or Goodreads or something. lol Plus taking notes on paper gives your eyes a break from looking at bright screens. :3

Bisky - Pokemon Unown I love it! lol I tried raising an 'A' one because it's my favorite letter, but it had poor stats. xD

111707 Cliff hangers are all right to have if there's text to land on after you stop hanging on the cliff. 8D

Or are you talking about telling people about your novel while editing? You give them a clue that leaves them anxious for what follows.

I tell people in a nutshell, "A college freshman is blamed for the murders of her friends that she didn't commit." I guess that's a cliff hanger?

111707 Good point. :3

There are also song titles that have the same name, so the same should apply to books. :3

111707 When those students have to take notes in a college class, they'll be writing in cursive. haha!
Sep 26, 2013 08:25PM

111707 Same here for the most part. ;3

111707 @Guilia - It's nice being part of a writing community because you visit with others who are engaging in the same process. :3

@J - So was your friend driven insane because he/she wanted to read it or because you spent the time writing a few chapters and stopped writing?

111707 Comic book references. I like that. :3

I actually heard on the news last winter that younger generations are more narcissistic, so Carl's perception may be very accurate. :3

Becca must have a short fuse, huh?

111707 I guess it varieds Sometimes I say "I will have/take your/the..." xD
Sep 26, 2013 12:44PM

111707 In America, sometimes we order that way. :3 haha

111707 @G.G. I couldn't imagine that many languages haha!

I know--it's as if feet are being dragged behind them. Plus that rush of hair that hits your sole every footstep. xD

111707 We all have concepts and ideas we want to throw out there. I understand the feeling because some buddies would ask questions that I couldn't answer. :P

As my British Lit. professor said in 2012, "Writing is hard!"

111707 Thanks :3 When I draw something I think looks decent, in a month it looks horrible. I like to have posters of my characters in my room, and I have other people draw them so they don't 'deteriorate' over time. It's similar how I don't like to look at the writing I did in the first half of 2013 or earlier. lol

That's okay haha. Forum posts aren't going to be seen by editors. xD
