110415 Oh dear, I dropped in to catch up with Pickwick and Co for a bit of a break from 'The Idiot' only to find Mr Pickwick is being sued for giving out false promises of marriage - seems like everyone is having a bit of march madness at the moment lol!

110415 I've just caught up and finished Part One and.... what on earth just happened? Does anyone have any idea what Natasia Philipovna is thinking? Or the rest of them for that matter, they are all completely mental! I'm enjoying it but it's a bit like watching a train wreck isn't it? I've no idea where the story is going so will probably have to start on Part Two quite soon just to find out what craziness will happen next.

110415 Sounds amazing Antipodes - I've actually got it on order and it should be turning up sometime this week which is why I'm so curious ;) I've been meaning to try his stuff for a while.
Hope you enjoy Stardust Angela - it's not quite the same as the film but it's still fun.
110415 I keep seeing this everywhere so will have to check it out at some point, sounds good!

110415 That one sounds good Joy, I'll have to add it to the tbr list. Have read The Eyre Affair quite recently but this one seems a little more serious, is that right?

@Antipodes - how goes the Faulkner?

Well as a short, slightly plump brunette, I totally agree - Barbies should be banned! lol ;)

I've heard of Look Homeward, Angel but haven't read it - hadn't heard of the 2nd one but might give it a miss unless I find myself laid up for an extended period of time!

110415 Like it though, even if it does hurt your brain a bit - you could make yourself crazy following that line of thinking but that isn't to say it's not interesting ;)
110415 I like the look of that one, will have to see if the library has a copy.

110415 Finished A Gate at the Stairs by Lorrie Moore which was pretty good - might have to check out some of her short stories which seem to be quite highly thought of. I'm still reading Rick Bragg's memoir All Over But the Shoutin' and have started A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki.
110415 Good to hear Ellie!

110415 Wow that's lovely, thanks Hilary for finding that one.
110415 Lol you sound like an old-school DJ Lee - love it!

The red velvet was a teensy bit dense (first time I've made one) but apart from that pretty yummy - I will keep working on it till it's perfect ;) Am off for lunch with my little bro and gorgeous niece soon and then heading to my friends later for cocktail night.
Hope everybody has a good weekend, and have a safe journey home Hilary!
110415 Oooh sounds like fun! Hope you are enjoying Copenhagen :)

I've been attempting to make a red velvet cake today but didn't have quite enough food colouring so it's a sort of reddish brown - but still tastes nice so I suppose it doesn't really matter, I just need to do the cream cheese frosting which I'm going to do in the morning.

110415 I liked that one Suzan but it didn't really live up to expectations for me - had the potential to be a 4 or 5 star book but was just a three. I think I'll probably read the sequel but I'll get it from the library rather than spend money on it.

Also think the author biography thing is a good idea - one of my aims for this year is to read more biography's of people I'm interested in.

I'm currently reading All Over But the Shoutin' by Rick Bragg which I'm really enjoying and A Gate at the Stairs by Lorrie Moore which I'm not far enough into to tell yet.

110415 It's basically just her random musings on various books and authors, she decides to try not to buy any new books for a year and instead read the ones she already owns but hasn't read and reconnecting with old favourites. It's very interesting but just her opinions and she did name drop a bit at times.
