Yes I have but thanks for the heads up!

I love them Hilary, the one in Newcastle is good too although the one in Sunderland isn't as good, but I always find them loads better than other charity shops as well. I think I was quite restrained earlier - last time I was in I came out with 13 books!!
I'm really glad you recommend the Maggie O'Farrell book so highly, I'm really looking forward to reading it ;)

Been into Durham this morning and found my way into the Oxfam bookshop which I love! So obviously had to adopt a couple of books...
192. Micheal Cunningham -
The Hours193. David Guterson -
Snow Falling On Cedars / East Of The Mountains194. Elizabeth Kostova -
The Swan Thieves195. Maggie O Farrell -
The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox196. Jeff Guinn -
Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde197. Anne Salmond -
The Trial of the Cannibal Dog: The Remarkable Story of Captain Cook's Encounters in the South Seas198. Isabelle Allende -
The House of the Spirits

Which OU course are you doing Angela?

OK that was a little bit more than I really wanted to know about Sam....

Like the Johnny Cash song!

How is everyone getting on with this then? I'm up to p67 where we are getting a look back at the history of Frankie and Sophie's relationship. Still finding it hard going but do agree that Algren is a very good writer.

Hilary you will have to let us know if it's any good - love Grimm's fairy tales and was interested in the Pullman version but like you a bit wary of it.

Do you think he is going to start throwing them over the fence into his neighbour's garden a la Hercule?

Angela that sounds really frustrating - have they not got a helpline you can phone/email? Cos it's not on really that you can't access it but I have no idea either and would probably be turning the air blue with my swearing at the computer by now! Hope you get it sorted ;)
Ellie - hope you enjoy yourself, I'm really excited for you too :)

Lee - I've got this on order so will let you know when it gets in.

Brilliant Ellie but shame about the ending!
I've given up on
Leviathan Wakes - I just wasn't in the mood for it so am now reading The Idiot in drips and drabs and have started
The Man With the Golden Arm which has yet to grab me. Am also reading
The Eyre Affair for light relief from the Algren one.

Yes I thought the same, was surprised at how recent they actually were.

Ha ha me too - hope you enjoy their show Hilary. I've seen them play live twice now and it was great fun!

Hi and welcome to the group Franky and Daria! Looking forward to your comments on whatever you decide to join us in reading :)

@ Kayla - how is
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay? I've got a copy sitting on the shelves, just haven't got round to it yet.
I'm still reading
Leviathan Wakes and starting
The Idiot soon

@ Angela - yeah it's a zombie thing, but much better than that makes it sound! I'm totally hooked but got an email last night saying Sherlock is in the post so will probably be well behind on my reading after watching all that! (plus I agree with you guys - Mr Cumberbatch is pretty yummy)

24. George Eliot - Daniel Deronda
