101690 I like most genres,as long as the book is PG ,no worse than PG-13. That means very little to no profanity,no explicit sex,no explicit grisly gore.

I tend to read in genre 'cycles'.Will read many books in one genre for maybe months, then switch genres!

I enjoy romance, both contemporary and historical romance.Amish/Bonnet fiction, including Amish-themed mysteries.
Pride and Prejudice type romances, and I really have a 'thing' for cowboys,so western frontier/historical or contemporary romance. Also enjoy medieval romances, what's not to love about castles, lords and knights?

Thrillers of all kinds,medical,archaeological,crime.

Sci-fi/technothrillers,earth-based sci-fi,only.

Horror/Supernatural/unexplained.

Some mystery,though I am the world's worst arm-chair detective,and I prefer non-murder mysteries or Cozy Mysteries.

I even enjoy young adult. :]

Mostly avoid books that feature serial killers, abuse or harm to a child,no kidnapping/hostage situations.

I love fiction as fun, pleasant escapism,do not want to read about the worse elements in mankind,or life, except occasionally in non-fiction.

So share with us which books that you love to read.

101690 Halloween is my favorite Holiday, probably because fall is my favorite time of year by far,but I also think it is the most fun holiday... free of all the stress of Christmas and the horrible weather for all of us who don't live in the SW or other mild climate areas.

Except for SWTWC I haven't read any of those titles Terri, not even Dracula! Will have to check them out, thanks! :]

I loved The Presence by John Saul [also his Nathaniel]and House of Dark Shadows/Watcher in the Woods (Dreamhouse Kings, #1-2) by Robert Liparulo by Robert Liparulo, Ruined (Ruined, #1) by Paula Morris , Rippler (Ripple, #1) by Cidney Swanson , The Man in the Picture by Susan Hill ,and I love several YA by Mary Downing Hahn~ The Old Willis Place by Mary Downing Hahn , Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn , Deep and Dark and Dangerous (A Ghost Story) by Mary Downing Hahn .

Oh I so agree! This is one book that I have re-read,and he can really draw you into the scene,so much so that you can feel the crisp fall air and hear the leaves swirling in the breeze, lol!

Oh I have wished many times that the heroine or hero would kick an undeserving suitor to the curb, and get with a secondary character that I like much better, but so far have never had that happen! :[

Was Once Told Tales in Portland? What a wonderful name for a used book store! :]

Yeah,I really love Amazon for being able to get used books[and DVDS] in "used like new" condition, from 3rd.-party sellers for low cost, and their A-Z guarantee!I could still go wild in Powells though, with no shipping charges and Oregon has no sales tax,so it would be like shopping in a brick and mortar Amazons, haha!

Powell's City of Books.Powell's City of Books is a book lover's paradise, the largest used and new bookstore "in the world"! Located in downtown Portland, Oregon, and occupying an entire city block, the City stocks more than a million new and used books. Nine color coded rooms house over 3,500 different sections, offering something for every interest, including an incredible selection of out-of-print and hard-to-find titles.

I'm thinking of moving to Portland,Oregon to escape the Ohio climate of severe winters and 'slime-ball-feeling' hot-humid summers, that I have always hated.Wonder how long I will be inside Powells when I go to visit, lol!

101690 What will you all be fixing for the Super Bowl?
I'm making homemade Nachos Bell Grande and Sloppy Joes.
101690 Wow,yes,that is a wonderful story!
Charlie and his family learned sign language when he was very young, but I don't know the full story of who it was taught by.It seems he went to a school for the deaf most of his childhood, and he also learned lip reading.

I just remember that when we went to visit during spring or summer break,[they are 5 hours away] he came and went most days we were there since he only lived a few houses away, and of course he was very close to his cousins, and aunt and uncle.I was just always struck by how well he fit in and how natural it seemed to have him around.
101690 I think it is a beautiful story too,and I wish that I could write it,but I just don't have the self-discipline and organizational skills to write a book.

I am going to talk to my SIL about the possibility of her daughter writing the story of her cousin's romance.Especially since she recently became disabled from something like MS.It would be a great diversion for her,I am thinking.
101690 My SIL in IN, has a newphew[her BIL's son] who is deaf, and her son and daughter love him dearly, they taught themselves sign language so they could converse with him,and my kids also did the same, though we only saw him once a year when we visited on vacation since we lived in a different state-OH.

Anyway,Charlie is now very happily married to a hearing girl and they have two children.I always thought his courtship and romance would be an interesting story. Plus I have always wanted to read a romance with a blind hero or heroine.
