I love most sub-categories of 'all' my favorite genres.I have a weird quirk, that I tend to ALWAYS read several books in one genre until I tire of it, and then must move on to another genre for several books.
Becky wrote: "There's nothing wrong with being child-LIKE. It's child-ISH that's usually the problem. Some people think they're the same thing, which they're not."So true, Becky!
Soph wrote: "Not me. English so isn't a big deal over here."You don't enjoy Halloween, Soph? Or is it not celebrated in England?
I'm not sure how you meant your response to pertain to whether or not you enjoy Halloween? What am I missing, lol?
Are you a Harry Potter fan?

WELCOME to the group Ramla. Glad to have you, and looking forward to your posts and getting to know you.
It's funny, I always knew that 'The Shining' was never a favorite of mine. Only watched it once, decades ago, until Friday night my grown son and I watched it on TV, and thought it was incredibly boring, no action until the last half hour! Unlikeable family that we cared nothing about. No way could I be induced to read it!
Halloween is my very favorite holiday, because it is all fun, free of the stress of Christmas.Love the decorations, treats, spooky books and movies[no splatter-gore for me!].
Fall is also my favorite season, because it has the most comfortable weather, plus the trees are beautiful!
Did anyone watch the Halloween wars marathon on the Food Network yesterday-10/3/15. It was so awesome, where teams had to make stuff according to 'themes' for a prize of $50,000.00.

If you have never read it or watched the great movie, I have to recommend
Some others...
I have only been reading cozy mysteries for a short time. My favorite authors so far~Karen Musser Nortman
Leigh Perry
Kate E. Dyer-Seeley
Josi S. Kilpack
Molly Greene
Me too, Ramla! You might enjoy some from this list~https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...
There may be several Inspirational or Christian because that used to be about all I would read, but now I am particular about avoiding religious proselytizing except in the Amish-themed books, since their culture is religion-based can't avoid it.
I don't mind some 'god-talk' as long as it isn't too preachy.
Don't think I've ever seen 'The Lady Eve' and since I am also a fan of Henry Fonda, must see if my library has it.
I have definitely seen and also enjoy the Colin Firth version, but am not enticed by it to purchase the DVD, like I was the Macfadyen/Knightley version, and I've lost count how many times I have re-watched it... plus when it comes on TV. :DAnother reason it is my favorite versions because I prefer 'all' of the supporting actors in that version, over the Colin Firth version.
Seems like I have also seen the Olivier version, and once was enough.
Becky wrote: "Hm. You guys are making me worried about the hero in my own book. Without saying too much (since I hope you will all eventually READ it), I wouldn't say he's angsty, but he is rather stiff. I'd ..."Aaaah Darcy, now for me that's Matthew Macfadyen in the 2005 film, sorry but I'm not a huge fan of the book. I would have kicked him to the curb exactly as Lizzie did, until he suitably groveled and she discovered his good side, so he was worth loving and forgiving. In other words he definitely redeemed himself.
However, as I said, I totally love the film, the book is just eh, to me, but I agree with Noe's advice. :]
Becky wrote: "I love quotes. I could have gone crazy but tried to show some restraint. I've just been thinking: why is it that we love them so much? Words that make us think? Or they make us feel wise because..."Hmmm, the ones that I like are ones that strike a chord with me. Kernels of truth and wisdom.
It is great hearing where you all are from. So far doesn't sound like any of us are fans of summer.I spell autumn ~R-E-F-R-E-S-H-I-N-G,lol!
Hi Molly, and WELCOME to the group!
Hi Noe and Cindy and WELCOME to the group. Glad to have you and see you participating in the discussions!I will be sure to check out your JAFF when I am finished with the two books, by an author who wrote one that I won in a goodreads giveaway.
Our young British member Soph, who was my first member here, is our most fervent Jane Austen fan, and I'm sure she will be happy to check them out as well.
As for me, I read about the same year round, however I get distracted much more in summer with things to do, places to go, ect, so I finish books more quickly in winter.I read mostly in afternoons and at night, or on dead uneventful weekends.
Sometimes for some unknown reason, I just can't get into several books in a row that I try. Or I start thembut don't feel like continuing.
I really just don't feel like reading at those times.
Fortunately, I eventually get over it.
