101690 Was blown away by how good Forget Me was! Now the quest to find another written that well.

Forget Me by K.A. Harrington

101690 Appreciate the warning about content in Juliet Marillier's adult series!

101690 Both of those sound fun, Jennifer, thanks!
101690 DON'T want torture, unnecessary gore, dismemberment details!
Also not full of 'god-talk'/religious proselytizing, in the case of Love Inspired, or Christian ones.

I have enjoyed several of the 'In Plain Sight' ones by Marta Perry.

I do and have read Cozy Mysteries, but would like some with more romance in the story.

101690 So true, C.D.!

101690 Could not get into~ The Key of Kilenya (Kilenya #1) by Andrea Pearson
It was just too weird and other-worldly for my tastes so now I am reading~ The Dog Merchants Inside the Big Business of Breeders, Pet Stores, and Rescuers by Kim Kavin Wow I had no idea that a giant corporation Hunte Inc. supplies puppies to the pet stores ,nor did I know that there are giant dog "auctions" like the one in Wheaton, MO, and that even rescues/shelters buy the current popular breeds from them!
Everyone is in it for the M-O-N-E-Y! I think if I do get another dog it will only be from a free puppies ad, where they have been family raised inside! The only way you know they didn't come from stacked feces/urine coated wire crates from some scumbag out to make big $!

101690 I love the films, but have never read any.

101690 Hi C.D., Excellent points you made, and I also prefer original works, however I have also enjoyed some retellings.

I do grow weary of seeing all the sequels/remakes of films advertised, and seldom watch them, unless they get very good reviews. Most remakes of wonderful old classics are just profanity-sex filled garbage.

Fanfiction books seem much safer in that regard, but I do not read every one that comes along, for sure! Again, I pay attention to reviews, especially the 1-2 star ones.

101690 No, no, no Kristi, I really enjoyed all the info you shared and I did get the part about you picturing actors from A Knight's Tale playing the parts of the characters in a film adaption of the book~
'Shadows for a Princess'.

I think I was just taken by surprise and not expecting the lack of seriousness in the story of A Knight's Tale, but it was fun. I think I might have enjoyed it more if I had known the type of film it is.

I loved all the female characters. The men, not so much. Heath Ledger-Sir Ulrich Von Lichtenstein-William Thatcher, just doesn't do it for me, like Orlando Bloom -Legolas does, but Rufus Sewell as Count Adhemar is definitely eye-candy!

101690 Ok I was not expecting 'A Knight's Tale' to be a Rock musical set in Medieval times! Far, far from the quality of LOTR, so not really even comparable. The soundtrack was just so unsuitable for a medieval setting, that I didn't know if this was supposed to be a spoof or what, but give me Excalibur or Merlin for my Medieval fix, any day.

It was somewhat fun, however.

101690 Yes Kristi, I did enjoy reading about your dogs. I love personal stories like that.
101690 I seriously think I am a List-Hoarder, lol!

101690 My favorites are the green Parakeet I got for my 8th BD and had for 9 years~Petey. Found out later she was a female. Her cage door was only closed at bedtime till morning, so she was always interacting with us.

Then a Boxer` Tasha, about 5 years, till she got cancer, which Boxers are prone to get. Wonderful dog.

Then a free black mutt we got as a pup~ Cricket. So smart and so good. about 5 years, found her a home with a boy about 8 after my husband died, and I was selling our country home and moving to a condo. She had never been chained which is what she would have needed to go out on at the condo, so I found her a home with a fenced yard and a playmate.

I would like to get a kitten and a puppy and raise them together, and thinking of a Boston Terrier.

101690 C.D. I also do not want "gore' in the books I read. Have you tried any Cozy Mysteries?

I know many love this book, but the synopsis just sounds too depressing to me.

101690 Totally loved both the first and second books in the Edgewood series. Now I must read the third one.

Just finished Rough Around the Edges Meets Refined (Meet Your Match, #2) by Rachael Anderson which I enjoyed very much.

Next up~ Chicken Soup for the Cat & Dog Lover's Soul Celebrating Pets as Family with Stories About Cats, Dogs and Other Critters by Jack Canfield

101690 Glad to hear A Knight's Tale was able to give you a kick, Margaret. Unfortunately it wasn't waiting for me at the library yet,
Aug 13, 2016 04:33AM

101690 I'm not a fan of bathroom humor, but I can take a small amount. Thanks for the heads up about the surprise in the credits.

I am hoping, the DVD comes into the library today, because I have some items to drop off and pick up.
Aug 12, 2016 02:52AM

101690 Oh yeah, you have me convinced, thanks Kristi! :D

101690 But gee Arwen chose to give up immortality to have a life with Aragorn, how's that for serious love, lol! Oh well, I love all the LOTR films.

Ok, now I really want to see "A Knight's Tale", don't know how I've missed it.
