That's what I was wondering, because there sure weren't leftovers at my house either! I had to make fresh ones to make another favorite~ Fried potato cakes, which are so good with soup beans, for a change from fried potatoes.
2 cups mashed potatoes
1 egg
1 small onion or several green onions, chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper (can use cayenne)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup oil for frying
Mix all ingredients except the oil into the potatoes. Make into patties. Fry in hot oil until browned on both sides. Makes about 12 patties. Enjoy!
I definitely want to try Desiree's potato soup.
Yes, I read in book reviews to watch the TV series instead, because of all the foul language in the books. Such a shame, as I would read them, if they weren't full of profanity!I just finished watching the season 4 DVDs, so now have to wait until season-5 is put on DVD, to see it, since I don't have Netflix.
My sister in law caught this series on Netflix and told me about it, so I checked and my library has it on DVD. I am so hooked!Great mysteries. Love the characters, and the acting.
A & E originally aired this but for only three seasons, when they sold it to Netflix who produced the last two[4-5] seasons.
Has anyone heard if there will be any more seasons after this[2016] one?
I need more!
I also used to be a huge fan of the "McCloud"[with Dennis Weaver] and the "In The Heat Of The Night" crime-drama series.
Now the only show that I watch regularly on TV is NCIS, and only the one with Mark Harmon.

Carol wrote: "If you can fry onions, open a container of broth and toast a piece of bread you can do it. But don't forget my secret weapon... sherry! It makes a difference."Sure, I can do that, haha! Thanks for the tip about sherry.
I should try it. I never ate it until after my husband died and I started eating out with friends, and they ordered it. My oldest daughter says she makes it.
When I eat out, French Onion soup is usually the soup that I order with dinner, yet I have never made it!
That sounds like such a fun idea, Carol. My dad was full German so I also love sausages like Brats, and my paternal Grandma's German Potato Salad.
And my late husband was from Kentucky, so I also had to learn to cook southern.
A favorite hillbilly dinner was fried pork chops, wilted lettuce with chopped green onions[hot bacon grease poured over, until just wilted], soup beans[usually pintos, or great northern], cornbread and fried potatoes. He was very easy to cook for and enjoyed all the different dishes I made.
I've been watching the R.L. Stine ones on The Family Channel. I also just picked up the DVD of Stephen King's 'It' from my library for when my teen granddaughter comes Friday to stay the weekend. I have never seen it myself, and I hate clowns!
J.L. wrote: "I am but I read physical books too. I alternate between ink and paper, and my Kindle Voyage."I do the same if my library doesn't have the Kindle edition, or if it's checked out, but the PB is available.
I think it goes to show how awful television programming is anymore, that most of us choose to read during Prime time hours, lol!Actually my TV is seldom on. It is used more as a monitor for games and DVDs!

I thought I would never become a fan of eReaders..... until I bought my first E-ink Kindle Touch three years ago! I became an A-V-I-D convert, haha!I love having a library of books at hand, being able to access a book in seconds, and how soothing the E-ink is to my eyes, plus having adjustable text size.
This year I bought a Kindle Paperwhite so I can read at night since there is no light near my recliner.
I also own a Kindle Fire, but wouldn't think of reading on it,since it is backlit and not E-ink! I bought it strictly for games and internet.
My new Kindle pleasure is my 30-day free trial to Kindle Unlimited which I will definitely subscribe to. Hard to top such great entertainment value for $10 a month!
How many others here are Kindle readers and Kindle Unlimited subscribers?

Kristi wrote: "A Walk in the Woods was hysterical. The movie was good but the book was so much better."But doesn't he use a lot of profanity, and tells of throwing lots of trash in the woods?

Thank's Kristi, The Passenger was a compelling read, because it compelled me to finish, it grabbed me from the start, despite really unlikeable characters[even the protagonist], and far more profanity, including "F" bombs and religious swears, than I will usually tolerate! I was satisfied with the ending, as well.
Dark Matter has not returned to the library yet.
Carol wrote: "I love, love, love a good mystery (think I am in a rut...), sci fi, fantasy and historical fiction."I have been getting more into mysteries lately. You might be interested in my new group~Clean Mystery/Suspense for the Squeamish

It would be great if you could suggest titles too! :D
Welcome Carol, I hope you also find some good reads through our group. Be sure to check my bookshelves on my profile page, as well, as somehow quite a few books were deleted off the group's bookshelf!
