Atticus Finch. If he was a real life character living in today's world, I would likely feel he'd make at least as strong and steady a President as Martin Sheen in The West Wing (and President Obama in the here and now). He lives a principled life, has strong moral values, and cares about minorities and people who are different than 'the norm'. I only wish that there was an up and coming politician that I felt this strongly about... Perhaps Cory Booker?!

And the heads of state in Asimov's Foundation series or Kim Stanley Robinson's Red/Blue/Green Mars are also pretty awesome in general.

I'd vote for Hermione running with Professor McGonagall or Gandalf and Dumbledore. Basically I trust wizards more than politicians.
I think that Zaphod Beeblebrox would make a much better President than either of the potentials that are running. At least with Zaphod you could have a laugh, and then get smashed on Pan-Galactic Gargleblasters.
Lazarus Long with Dora as VP. Or maybe Eve Dallas and Peabody. Both of those slates have good balance of bad*ss and compassion.
Hermoine Granger or Atticus Finch are my votes.
