I want to read all my 1000 pg books, and some long, very long series books I have that require more attention than a best seller does
Over the past few months I've gotten back into reading for pleasure, which I'd largely neglected because of school. But now my goal is to read twenty books or more in 2015--I have been keeping a to-read list which I am determined to eventually finish! Among several new books, I hope to re-read the Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia series. And maybe even read the Return of the King for the first time...which I've put off for far too long.
I didn't know anything about this site last year and used to read books whenever I had time, but ever since I joined Goodreads, I look towards my hobby with a new vigour. Thanks to Goodreads for that and nice challenge put up here. I am definitely sure I will complete 15 books this year, lets see. So a Happy New Year to all and Best of luck folks!!

Good luck for your first challenge! I'm sure you'll reach your goal :) This is my second year doing it

I have been reading less books since I came to medical school. Since I have been busy in and out the hospital with 24 hours on calls and all that, reading books has been the least expected leisure time activity. However this year, I want to indulge back into my love of reading. I am challenging myself to read more books this year and may even change the genre of books I'm reading. Who knows, I might enjoy life more hahahahahha
One book a month. That will sum up 12 books a year. I am trying to read classics and a few non fiction this year. Starting from The Hobbit. I have not figured out rest of 11 books yet. Any suggestions are welcome. Have a great year ahead.

I achieved just 31 books in 2014. Not that many but there were lots of treasures among them which enriched my life last year. In 2015 I wanna read at least 50 books. A goal which should be achieved without pressure.
Reading is such a wonderful thing. I hope we will read an enjoy some fine books in the coming year. It is always exciting at the beginning of a new year, not to know what wait for us! ;-)
So I hope succeed! :)))))))

Both are classics and immensely enriching to peruse.
Just want to read few books ,averagely two per month but more critically ,have see their impact in both my live and environs.

This year, I've decided to up the ante and have set myself a goal of 30 books (more than the past two years combined, yikes!), which amounts to about 2.5 books per month. No idea of length. Also, as has been mentioned numerous times, I'm loving the theme on this years challenge!
Jackie wrote: "Quality vs. quantity...the same for me. I met my goal of 400 books in 2014, but found that I was racing through them just to meet the goal. Sometimes (most times), books and reading are to be savor..."Wow, I AM impressed at the idea of 200 books! I'm serious. Do you read a couple at a time? What type of books do you read? How do you keep them separate? I need a day in between books just to get the first book off of my mind. I'm setting a goal of 30 books (woo hoo!!)
I read 161 in 2014, but don't want to feel the pressure too much of setting the bar higher. I set my 2015 goal for 150, and if I surpass it, all the better!I love the idea of a page goal - my highest ever was in 2011 (166 books) with 62,342 pages (that's an average of 170.80 pages a day). Last year, I read 56,484 pages (154.75 pages/day). I would like to read 57,000 pages this year!
The purple logo is awesome! But does it bother anyone else that the year is bold and none of other badges have bold years? This may just be my own OCD about things matching...

This is my first time too. Commitment phobia! I'm trying for 30.
Ellen wrote: "I can't seem to figure out how to enter the books I've read so far this year. Can anyone help me?"Find the book and add it to your 'read' shelf, and then set the date finished to sometime this year. Hope this helps! (if that doesn't work add it to your currently reading, then mark as finished)
Goal for 2015 is 24 books so I can reach 100 total books. I read about the same last year, but read asoiaf which took a massive chunk out of my year, hoping to surpass is since I've already read 2 books this month and hope to read 2 more. However don't want to put too much pressure on myself because I have lots of exams! I might end up changing it later on, but I'll see how it goes. Also found lots of favourites last year, and hope to do the same this year. And I just ordered some books that I'm excited for after being in a bit of a reading slump since asoiaf.I may also try reading Lord of the Rings which has been on my TBR for about 4 years, but again we'll see.
this is the first year I've set myself a reading challenge so very excited!

Thank you for your help. I successfully added them to my book list as read, but I don't see that I have read any books in 2015. Am I just dumb or is this a problem because I am using my I-pad?

Hannah, sometimes I have to refresh the page before the book appears in my yearly challenge.
Last year, I went ridiculously beyond my goal because it included the graphic novels that I have read. Is there a way to be able to not include them in the count but still have their started/finished reading dates set?
I have always been an avid reader as long as I can remember. Now that I am retired, I have all the time to read. I have set my 2015 Goodreads Challenge goal - 100 books. If the winter in Iowa is bitter cold, I will easily reach the goal by late spring.
Krystal wrote: "My Goal is 33,but I've already read 4 books, should I higher the number or keep it the same?"I would say keep it the same. I love seeing my goal fade into the distance as I blow past it.

Was wonderingI read all the time
but I also listen to books on cd while in the car
would you consider that "reading" toward the goal?
I have noway to markf them differently so they will show as read....

I call listening to a book, reading it. I do have an "Audio Book" shelf so I know which books I have listened to, but I count all my audios as "read"
Does anyone else wonder about these 'readers' that have finished their challenge of up to 100-150 books by Jan 23rd? I read fast (with comprehension), yet have only read 19 so far. (So many books so little time)lol
They must be either childrens board book types or thery're cheating.

Yeah I always think about that! And I literally don't understand how people can have goals of 500 or even 1000 because that's more than one book a day. I could never find enough time to always read a book a day, let alone more than one!
Hannah wrote: "Theresa wrote: "Does anyone else wonder about these 'readers' that have finished their challenge of up to 100-150 books by Jan 23rd? I read fast (with comprehension), yet have only read 19 so far...."
The same with people who challenge themselves with such a low number that they finish early. That's not a real challenge the should increase the number and continue the year.

Agree! Mine is 24 so I could reach 100 total but since I'm already on my 6th book probably going to increase it to about 40/50 soon
Good for you. I tried 365 in 2013. Made it but it was hard, so I cut back last year and again this year. Now that I know I can do it, I don't need to do again. Besides I want to enjoy them more. (I confess, some are the books I read to my grandkids, while others are the ss's that come extra in series.) And I do a review of each one.

I know that not all pages are created equal, but I think it's more indicative of amount read than just number of books.
