'Nothing has a stronger hold over a girl than the fear of the thoughts of her peers – thoughts that change five times in a day. No wonder things are so complicated with teenagers.'—Alice Pung, Laurinda

In Laurinda, the acclaimed Alice Pung tells an involving, original story that captures the drama and pain of school life today, as well as revealing much about the choices of young women. So when Molly Hewitt does, she lands in all kinds of trouble with up-and-coming San Francisco builder, Nick Mancini. He’s offered the tenants in his small, newly acquired apartment house—the one sitting smack in the middle of his latest condo project—twenty-five grand to vacate the premises. But thanks to Molly, who runs a not-for-profit medical clinic down the street, they’re holding out for a hundred.View Details »
When Nick discovers Molly is behind the inflated figure, he sets out to do whatever it takes to charm her onto his team. Either he convinces her that his tenants need to downsize their demand or his next project will be digging himself out of bankruptcy. Since she has the face of an angel and a bod most men only dream about, as campaigns go, this one shouldn’t be too painful.
Molly, no pushover, is up for the challenge. Or is she? A session with Ouija confirms she’s not immune to Nick’s charms. Not only is he single and available, he has enough sex appeal to melt titanium. Add that to a kiss that puts more than an extra z in sizzle, and Molly starts thinking about the L word. But unless he ups his buyout offer to his tenants and keeps his wrecking ball away from her end of the street—where rumor has him next aiming it— he’s strictly catch and release.

Lujan Matus reveals here, in clear and accessible language, how to recover your authentic self, using the simplest yet most profoundly useful techniques you could ever apply. Complex processes of socialization distance us from our original essence very early on in our formation.
Our socio-cultural inheritance weighs heavily on our intangible self and is reflected in an erosion of trust in our intuitive knowing and a consequent inability to see and do what is truly necessary. This dilemma of conditioning, no matter where we are from and however aware we become of its intricacies, cannot be addressed by merely thinking about it.
A complete turnaround is required. Restoring our natural state of inner silence, that elusive axis of enlightenment, is our golden key to personal and collective freedom, and providing a precise and practical way to do that is exactly what this book achieves.
Your journey through the Eight Gates of Dreaming Awake will open the door for your primal essence to return to your present moment continuum. This book delivers ancient shamanic wisdom and quantic insights that allow precious points of arrival to be sustained within the power of one's omnipresence.
The techniques in this book can be successfully applied to any ideology, religion or philosophy. [close]Giveaway dates: Aug 22 - Oct 22, 20145 copies available, 466 people requestingCountries available: US

Determined to show her father what a capable a woman she is--without his help or interference--she signs up to be a mail-order bride, totally prepared to give up all the luxuries of her previous life. But once thrown into the rigors of a working farm, Kathryn fears she may have made the biggest mistake of her life--and finally met a challenge she can't conquer.
Tobit Preece has a problem. His ailing grandpappy has one wish in the world--to bounce a great-grandchild on his knee before he passes on. The senior Preece has deeded his large farm to his grandson, and a grateful Tobit would like nothing better than to fulfill his wish. When Tobit misses out on his chance with Heather Sanford, a mail-order bride in Y Knot, Montana, who suddenly found herself without a groom, he thinks his chance to achieve his grandfather's dream is dead. Then Evie Holcomb suggests Tobit send for his own mail-order bride. One she already knows personally. Determined to have a child before the spring calves romp in the pastures, Tobit sends for his own mail-order bride.

Because Self-Help Is Never Stupid, was written to encourage you to find a deeper knowing, awareness and appreciation for why it is important to bother. We live in a mad, pissed-off world, and we all want ways to step beyond just coping and into moments of peace, joy and contentment.View Details »
Anger, frustration, stress and more are triggered by the ego's reaction to something that occurred in the past, and holds us hostage from living a more ideal future. Pain, abuse and suffering cannot be transformed by trivializing or denying its existence.
Heart-centered consciousness, while becoming main-stream, is often misunderstood, or perceived as being weird yet offers a profound way to bring kindness, gentleness and compassion to everything. It is through integrating the heart with all parts of self that brings truth, light and beauty to the darkness that resides within all of us, thereby allowing all parts and all voices of self to harmonize. Hence a big "why bother" of this book.
Living through heart-centered conscious knowing and integrity provides a sense of strength, courage, support and comfort while facing the sometimes uncomfortable truth of reality.
This book acknowledges that solving problems is not always as simple as "just sending love," as many New-Age philosophies will teach. It runs a gamut of topics, including creation, miscreation, co-creation, ego, how to embrace and accept all aspects of self and others, forgiveness, abuse, dysfunction, meditation and exercises to process fear and anger but with an element of lightness and humor that isn't always common in self-help. Why such a wide range? Because: our life experiences span a wide spectrum which is deeper than just accepting the good with the bad.
The author uses her own fondness for rock music, referring to over 80 songs, knowing that music offers a healing resonance, and lyrics give voice to those who have not yet found theirs, adding an uplifting element to our tumultuous lives, inviting you to find the music, harmony and vibration of your soul. "I find myself reading Karina Borowicz’s Proof two ways: as a reader admiring her quiet, strange authority and vision, and as a writer asking: how does she do it?" —Andrea Cohen
The poems in Proof testify with a quiet urgency to the existence and influence of the unseen. It is with a singular compassion that Borowicz directs our attention to what is overlooked: the old woman walking her lame collie, a cardboard box on the sidewalk filled with the bric-a-brac of a dismantled life, the equation of objects lined up in a museum display case, a broken doll's arm poking from a nest of seaweed, the burst of crimson hidden in a poppy seed.

One of today's most celebrated short story writers, Kelly Link creates brilliantly detailed, layered fictional worlds pulsing with their own energy and life. The situations are at first glance fantastical, but the emotional insights are piercing and the characters vividly real. In "The Summer People," a young girl in rural Florida serves as uneasy caretaker to the mysterious, never-quite-glimpsed visitors who inhabit the cottage behind her house. In "I Can See Right Through You," a one-time teen idol movie vampire takes a disturbing trip to the set where his former on- and off-screen love interest is shooting a bizarre new reality show; in "The New Boyfriend," a suburban slumber party takes an unusual turn when the spoiled birthday girl opens her big present, a new animated doll. Funny, uncanny, always deeply moving, these stories demonstrate a writer of wondrous gifts operating at the height of her powers.

Megan's sister is dying, and the only one who can save her is the Vampire King Jaromir. His blood can heal, and Megan will do anything to get her hands on it, even agree to be his prey for one night. If Megan can stay away from him the whole night, she will get what she came for, but if she fails, she must give in to him.
Losing doesn't sound so bad, especially when the Vampire King is one of the most attractive men Megan has ever seen. But if she loses, her sister will die. So now Megan has to make a choice. Her sister's life, or the Vampire King's passionate embrace.

Review by Coco's Book Reviews:
This book is fantastic. I don't want to tell the whole story because it is one that you must read to believe. I read this book in one sitting and when it came to the end I was wanting more. You will not regret getting this book. I gave this book 5 stars but it definitely deserves 10+. I anxiously look forward to reading more by Nellie C. Lind
Review by LAnderson:
I was pleased to actually see some twists in this book that I have not read before. It was well worth the read and I actually read the last few chapters over.
