Goodbye 2014, and hello 2015! Is "read more books" on your New Year's resolution list? You can create a goal and track your progress with the 2015 Reading Challenge on Goodreads!

Your goal can be as big or small as you choose. Maybe you're aiming to read a book every other month, or maybe you know you can speed through a book a week...it's completely up to you! Pick a number, any number, and you're on your way.
If you're not sure what to read next, we've got you covered. There are lots of ways to find books on Goodreads, and millions of book lovers are sharing their latest discoveries every day. A great way to get started is to rate books you've already read to get recommendations tailored just for you. The more books you rate, the better your recommendations will be!

You can also find inspiration in one of the thousands of reading groups on Goodreads—including many groups that host reading challenges themed to a certain genre, favorite author, or interesting topic. And don't forget you can browse the book-list bonanza of Listopia, cross your fingers and enter a book giveaway, and check out the recently announced winners and runners-up of the Goodreads Choice Awards!
Now in its fifth year, the Goodreads Reading Challenge continues to grow. In 2014, Goodreads members' collective reading goals surpassed 35 million books—what records will 2015 break?

Here we start the challenge,
Looking forward to achieving this year's target inshallah

I'd also love it if you recommend some of your favorite classics/canon books. I'm starting with Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote

That's good for you. When I was a child I (for some reason ) tried reading the bible (by myself) and it did some psychological damage for awhile but now I am more open to it, however, I still hold back from it. Perhaps a book that explains to me things would be better than the real deal.

My 2014 Reading Challenge was 200 books. I exceeded that goal by 27% (253).
2015 may be the stagnant year. iMy reading challenge is staying at 200 books. Instead of numbers I'm going to concentrate on finishing series i've already started & completing my TBR list. I'm going into a new year with more than 20 ebooks already purchased sitting on my cloud waiting to be read. I don't want to waste that money. I need to get on that & if my numbers suffer oh well.

7. A book that takes place in Africa.
8. A book that takes place in Asia.
9. A book that takes place in your city / region.
10. A book published this year (2015 ).
11. A book written by someone when he or she was not yet 25 years old.

Hmmmm.........interesting. Sounds like fun too. Wish there was a way to put the list in my profile and check off as I accomplish them.

All the best to everyone on their goals for 2015.

Great challenge. I've yet to read the LOTR trilogy. :-)

Zee, I know where youre coming from. I have bought so many books over the years that ive yet to read. My problem is, so many of the ones I got I no longer care to read. My tastes have changed since. Its gonna be a real challenge to empty my bookshelf. Good luck on yours.

Dianne, I read the trilogy twice, yes twice, but its been over a couple decades ago back before hs. I loved it then, loved the movies, but im not sure I could hang with it now. May try it again just to see though. Wish you well with it, its a behemoth.

Now, I'm like emptying up the desk for more of the real books, both of this years' and the remains of last years' unread.
Last year I went for 54 books, number of books I bought that year, now I'm setting it to 65, with some adds to my typical reading categories. More as: self-help & biography books.

I plan on reading the LOTR trilogy this year too. I read The Hobbit this past year.

I like that Mitsli. I wish goodreads would allow us to set our goal related to the number of pages instead of books.

My friends and I are doing this challenge, and tracking on goodreads.
