84 Great LGBTQ+ Romance Reads for Pride Month (and All Year-Round)

Adriana Herrera was born and raised in the Caribbean and now lives in New York City. When not at work as a trauma therapist, she writes stories with unapologetic happily-ever-afters about people who look and sound like her people. Her books, which The New York Times has called "sweet and thoughtful, but delightfully filthy too," include the contemporary Dreamers series as well as historical romances like her Las Leonas series.
For this year's Pride Month, we asked Herrera to recommend great LGBTQ+ romances for year-round reading from her extensive mental Rolodex of romance titles.

Pride Month has arrived, and I am here with all of the Queer Joy and all of the happily-ever-afters you can handle. This list has got it all: found family, boys in love, girls kissing, nonbinary folks swooning, trans lives getting their LIVES, and everything in between. If there is one thing romance does better than any other genre is give us BIG FEELINGS, and when it comes to Queer Pride, in this genre we go big with the HEAs.
For this Pride readathon, I've compiled a collection of LGBTQ+ romances that I promise will have something for everyone. All these books are available to read now, and some are true genre classics. I've sorted the selections by popular tropes and subgenres of romance, so you can dive right in to your favorite kind of happily-ever-afters.
Maybe you're hankering for some gay cowboys, or perhaps your kind of small-town romance includes a big Pride flag on main street. If you’re like me…that hockey romance hits better when the teammates kiss at the end. It might also be the case that your heart is set on a duke who falls for his valet…well, here are all kinds of new favorites.
Get those WTR shelves ready because they are about to explode with a million rainbows!

This seems like a comprehensive list. It covers a wide variety of subgenres within the queer romance genre. Where to start?

- A Shot in the Dark by Victoria Lee (trans man)
- Chef's Kiss by T.J. Alexander (nonbinary)
- Chef's Choice by T.J. Alexander (trans man and trans woman)
- Second Chances in New Port Stephen by T.J. Alexander (trans man)
- The Companion by E.E. Ottoman (trans women and trans man)
- A Lady For a Duke by Alexis Hall (trans woman)

Min wrote: "Any enby/trans books? :)"Hey, It's YA but I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver is a cute one!
here's a few more:
- Starless by Jacqueline Carey (NB/F)
- All of Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O'Donoghue. ( I haven't read this but supposedly the Love interest is NB but also uses He/Him pronouns too)
Rory wrote: "Odd not to include _Front Runner_ by Patricia Nell Warren."Likely because it's not a romance. A love story, sure, and a wonderful, important, awesome work of fiction, but definitely not a romance. Romances have Happy Ever Afters or Happy For Nows.
A bit miffed we get a whole line with male recommendations (sad boys) but none with just women. Unless "poly love" is what's on offer for women (which still sucks).Aside from that, a nice enough list.
For an intriguing, spooky paranormal mystery with MM romance. You’ve got to read the 5 star ⭐️ The Mysterious and Amazing Blue Billings by Lily Morton, it’s so good!
Just wanted to add some of my favorites: I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson has a m/m romance and so does Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I also loved Basil & Oregano, and On A Sunbeam which are both sapphic and graphic novels ❤️
thank you for making a list of lgbt books where almost all of them are adult books 🙌🏻 usually lists like this are almost fully YA, which sucks for those of us who are adults and enjoy more mature writing
Most ardently is a cute pride and prejudice retelling with trans and gay representation. And for fantasy romance a strange and stubborn endurance is really well written and amazing.

Black Cake has some LGBTQ relationships. They are not central to the plot but it’s a fantastic book and queer affirming.

Kiss Her Once for Me by Alison Cochrun
The Romantic Agenda by Claire Kann
This Doesn't Mean Anything by Sarah Whalen
Friends without Benefits by Evelyn Fenn
How to Be a Normal Person by T.J. Klune
A few of the books in the main list above also discuss asexuality for a main character, but the character may not have chosen to identify that way:
Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun
How You Get the Girl by Anita Kelly

Pick a lane.
I would add Tipping the Velvet. It’s a historical fiction based in the 1920’s England romance/erotica lesbian novel by Sarah Waters. Breath taking and salacious writing.
"has some LGBTQ relationships. They are not central to the plot but it’s a fantastic book and queer affirming."I'm going to be very gentle in pointing out that this isn't exactly the appropriate forum to promote a generically queer-friendly book.
Ivy Toler "Does anyone have any recommendations for aromantic and/or ace books?"Let's Talk About Love by Claire Kann

Alison Cochrun’s The Charm Offensive features a wonderful ace main character.
I've already read the book "Written in the Star" . It was really interesting . It was a big pleasure for me to see it in your list)

I read that book. It was only okay, though.
Winter's Orbit is a good book but NOT enemies to lovers. I'm bamboozled how it got into that category
