Attention all fans of military men and shifters! A new series has come to town!!

Excellent paranormal book with simple yet effective world building- just what the doctor ordered! Charlie Cochet, your hard work has paid off. This was very enjoyable, though I almost knocked it down to 3.5 stars because the mystery element was weak.

In a lot of paranormal books the reader has to do a lot of hard work getting up to speed with the author's created "world." There is often eith

Hell & High Water would make a kick-ass movie!

This book read like a fast-paced flick but contained certain elements I dislike in the M/M romance genre:

Focus on action vs. romance

Many secondary characters that drew the attention away from the MCs

Very little steam on page (there was one, count it: ONE, sex scene, and it was over before I blinked)

Lots and lots of bantering to the detriment of more realistic dialogue

Info dumping to set up the premise

An unhinged, rather obvious villain who "confesses

So this was a fun little nugget to start what I hope will be an awesome series.

I love M/M.

I love PNR.

And I love shifter romance.

So you give me gay shifter romance in some alternate post-Vietnam reality?

And I'll make like a chubby Storage Wars asshole who bids on everyone else's superfluous crap.

Dex and Sloane were some really good and interesting characters...although they were saddled with one of my least favorite story "glitches..."

10/11/19 re-read ... still freaking awesome !!

6/4/18 audio version.....also 5 stars !!

This was my very first shifters/ paranormal book. I normally don't read these kinds of books but after a few recommendations of some people whose opinion I trust, I gave this one a try.

And boy am I glad that I did. I am totally converted !! This book was awesome !! I loved the suspense..the hot alpha men...the sexual tension. I have a serious crush on Sloane and Dex made me pee my pants laughing...he was so fu

I want a THIRDS TV show … or a movie!! I mean look at this casting that Charlie Cochet has on her website. Chris Pine! Joe Manganiello! *dies*

Sorry, I got distracted there – it’s just that I get too excited with this new series from Charlie Cochet. She is not a new author to me – I first read her stories back in 2012. But so far, I am more familiar with her historical stories (and for someone who doesn’t read a lot of historical, I sure do enjoy hers). Charlie does have a shifter story

Seeing a few of my friends read this for the first time made me want to reread the series. Here we go binging again 😬

Still hate the whole dead ex thing but absolutely love Dex ❤️❤️

Originally read August 2018

Why my GR friends do this to me I do not know. Encouraging me to read shit. I see another binge reading coming on....🙄*sigh*

Plenty of reviews at there but for what it’s worth I absolutely loved Dex.

When I re-read the Marshals series by Mary Calmes, I found that I wanted to re-read this one as well. Though, I struggled to focus a lot, so the re-read wasn't exactly a hit, but I still enjoyed Dex and Sloane a lot. I primary skimmed the facts and all the in between, and only focused on Dex and Sloane's scenes, due to the fact that I just couldn't get into it. I was so tried and kept yawning for some reason and it kept me from fully get into the book.... So the rat

Warning: series contains action, comedy, romance, bromance, cheesy eighties references, big boys with big guns, a puppet, sassy blonds, shenanigans. A lion, a tiger, a jaguar--oh my! Don't forget the cheetah. Oh, and plenty of sexy time.

Hello all! As the time grows nearer, I couldn't be more excited to be sharing with you the first book in my new contemporary-law enforcement shifter series called the THIRDS.

I'm so relieved I finished this story at last...after a whole year.
I never finished reading the ebook last summer. Stopped at 83% not because I didn't enjoy it but it was summer vacation time and not enough time. Then time went and there were other books. — Nearly a year later, I added the audiobook (just $2).

10 hrs narrated by Mark Westfield and I crossed my fingers Hell & High Water would work better this summer.

Just a few of my random notes made whilst reading...

Dex has a complete personality change about a quarter into the book. He started out serious and turned into a ham when he got to THIRDS HQ.

A lot of attention to detail. Too much maybe?

33% saw me with tears in my eyes. Ash making fun of Dex and Dex getting upset.

I did really enjoy this book and I will definitely read the next in the series. There were a few things that threw me off (see notes above) and I guessed whodunit pretty much fr

Here's the thing about this book: Don't get caught up in the whole sciencey aspect or the fact that there are a few things here and there that don't make sense in the world. That is how the lower reviews came to be. It's all details anyway. Science schmience.

He was obviously the science expert consultant on this book. Who's a bad dog? You are!

Instead, have fun with the awesomeness that these characters bring. Dex, the main guy, is hilarious, snarky, and sarcastic. He makes this story shine with

When I decided to read this book I didn’t go with high hopes because of all the mixed reviews I saw and I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much for sure! I really liked it! I loved Dex’s character! I loved everything about him, especially his banter with everyone! He’s so funny and amazing! Enjoyed his sense of humor! At first, I didn’t like Sloan but after I found out about his hurt, well I didn’t take a grudge against him for pushing Dex! The MCs aside, I loved side characters as

Well fuck me. Did I just dream up the awesomeness that is Hell & High Water in order to get out of my book funk? Because let me tell you: it was amazing.

I'm not usually a fan of shifter stories, because they tend to come off as porny (not always a bad thing) or just don't feel very well developed. Fortunately, Hell & High Water took a different route with a shifter story. The author constructed a modern day world where shifters (aka: Therians) live on a precarious existence wit

One word: Dex! 😍

It's possible that while reading Hell and High Water, I started forming a very cunning plan to throw my husband over for Dexter freaking Daley.

LOL, yes, I can see the flaw(s) in this plan, but a girl can dream, can't she?

This book was awesome!!

We had hot government agents, great world building, shifters, and hot hot hot man sex. Oh yeaaaaaah..

Dex has been a police officer for the last 10 years, but when his partner shoots an unarmed kid only because the kid is Therian, Dex turns his partner in. Now all the other cops think he is a traitor of the human race, choosing the Therians over his own people.

Therians are humans who can shift into an animal.

It's no small secret I don't really care for paranormal....or suspense for that matter! But The third book in this series kept popping up on my feed so I thought....why not?!

And I must say, I really liked this one. It's rather paranormal-lite which worked great for me. Sloane and company are shifters, aka therians. They shift to cats, which I found cute and cuddly.

Yes it was a bit heavier on the suspense than I prefer and not heavy enough on the romance. But the banter

I'll get to my review of the book in a bit!

First some facts, though, because I was confused when I started this book.

The world build behind this book and the continuing series is extensive and very impressive.
Take a look for yourself.

Therians - are humans that have shapeshifting abilities. Why Therian I thought? Well, there are Humans and Therians. HumaniTherians. Humanitarian. When I realized that, it was a great name!

Amazing start for this series. I just couldn't put it down!

Most frustrating about this book is the wasted potential, it has an interesting premise and a strong start promising great things. The prologue gave an interesting concise explanation of the verse clearing the way for the story, unfortunately that isn't how it continued.

We're introduced to Dex a tough honourable cop with a decade worth of experience, he's highly skilled, has something to stand for, and is being persecuted by his fellow cops. It promised tension. Cover certainly suggests a seriou

“I am fucking charming!” Dex shouted, his entire face going beet red. “I am the most charming motherfucker you will ever know, so kiss my perfectly perky ass!”

After some consideration, Sloane cocked his head to one side and shrugged. “I’ve seen better.”

“Oh, now you’re insulting my ass?”
“Cael, come on. Stop licking the dude. That's gross."

Letty let out a snort. "Please, like you don't lick dudes."

"That's different," Dex explained with a grimace. "None of those dudes were Ash. Besides, last time I checked, Ash was allergic to nuts.”
