Sandra Browne Just finished The Strangled Hubris by Keith Browne and the book starts with a warning to Baron Jasper Brundheim that his helium mine is poisoning the workers, but quickly escalates to a hostile takeover from the government and the Baron becoming a wanted man. Joining forces with other outlawed business owners, they try to fight against the regime. Do they prevail? The chapters are short and easy to read and the book is well written and holds your interest right to the end!

message 172: by Bella (new)

Bella Will someone possibly give me some recommendations for books to read??

message 173: by Kathy (new)

Kathy I recommend Elinor Brent-Dyer “Chalet School” series and the in-between additions that have been written, you should go to Girls Gone By and The Chalet School Society to research and note all the books written. This series should occupy you for a little while. The books are fun, exciting and cosy to read. And as I am in my 50s and have been re-reading these many times since I was 13 these are not just for YA readers, there is a range of themes through the series and many of these cover all ages.

Fill in Boyfriend is what got me hooked on her books! Dealing with depression 2+ years ago, I picked up her book and a Debbie Macomber book. It helped me to feel so much better. Kasie West became an auto buy author forme. Now, I'm caught up I think and reading her most recent book. I hope you enjoy F-I-BF.

Bridget's Quiet Corner Jakub Rys wrote: "jhnm wrote: "... and for those of us heading into winter?"

Southern hemisphere is going into Winter while northern is going into summer...so, not much of a wait for them.

Bridget's Quiet Corner Dream wrote: "I hated the Harry Potter books! (well I couldn't even finish the first book) That was 14 years ago. I'm thinking of trying them again."
It took years for me to get to them and finally finish the first book, then go on to the rest. I found that the audio books helped a lot!
