The 28 Most Anticipated Mysteries & Thrillers of 2020

The new year is guaranteed to bring plenty of suspense, chills, thrills, and occasional horrors—and we're just talking about the new mysteries and thrillers that await readers.
From the return of favorite suspense masters including Harlan Coben, C.J. Tudor, and Riley Sager to buzzy debuts Saint X, Darling Rose Gold, and Take Me Apart, there's little doubt that your TBR pile will be suspiciously large this year.
To create our list of the year's must-read mysteries and thrillers, we focused on what Goodreads members can't wait to read. How do we measure that anticipation? By taking a look at how many times a book has been added to Want to Read shelves. Then we factored in the ratings from the book's early readers.
Which of these upcoming releases are making their way onto your Want to Read shelf? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!

Doesn't really matter who wrote the books, really, as long as they are good.

Well said. I could care less about the author's personal life as long as I like their craft.

I really didn't think The Chalk Man was at all terrifying. I did, however, think it was the best book I read the year I read it, and it got me hooked on C. J. Tudor. I've already put a library hold on The Other People. I've also put a library hold on Into the Fire (Gregg Hurwitz's upcoming Orphan X novel).

i do not understand why you would even mention such thing - it is so unnecessary, imho.

well said, Beth!

Ooh, thanks for this. I have never read any CJ Tudor, but your insight makes me want to grab at least a couple of her books!

ha, ha, scare the pants off them and they'll love you forever!

I am most looking forward to The Lucky One and Eight Perfect Murders.

Might be timely. In the book shops there appear many more female writers than male.

Makes a change from Husbands?

I didn't read the comment as preaching. It was just a comment. Your comment tells us all about you but is that preaching too?

Agree!

Also, not on the list:
Someone's Listening (48125565) - Seraphina Nova Glass
(I believe the release is July 2020 and it is her thriller debut.

I have noticed the same thing, each month the books promoted lean heavily in favor of female..."
They are not choosing what to promote. As already pointed out, the selection shown is based on what users of Goodreads are putting on their "Want to Read" list + how early readers have reviewed it. There's no conspiracy here ... this is just a list of what the majority of users of this site want to read. It's usually a combination of well-known authors + what's being heavily marketed by the publisher. Thrillers written by women have been hugely popular since Gillian Flynn and Paula Hawkins. Once we get another Da Vinci Code or Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, you'll probably see the trend swing a different way.

Yes! This book was great and gave me a couple of great new/old mysteries to add to my list.

You're right Steven, men just don't have enough privileges in this world. Who will stand up for the men?!
