With the establishment of this website in 2000, Terry began accepting two questions from each fan per month. On the last day of the month, five questions are randomly drawn. Terry answers these five questions and they are posted monthly for your enjoyment.

Terry Reviews: The Martian

weir-martianThe Martian by Andy Weir

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This month’s book recommendation is The Martian by Andy Weir. We read this book for our old booksellers and authors book club, and Judine and I were unable to attend. This is the astronaut stranded on Mars story, a familiar concept to those of us who grew up in the 40s and 50s at the dawn of science fiction. But that does not mean you shouldn’t read it. Indeed, you should. It was an exciting, insightful science based tale of how someone abandoned...

Excerpt: The Fey of Cloudmoor by Terry Brooks

Multiverse edited by Greg Bear & Gardner Dozois is available for order now on Subterranean Press and The Signed Page!

It is an anthology celebrating the life’s work of science fiction grandmaster Poul Anderson. Anderson has had an amazing influence on many of today’s writers and some of those writers were invited by Greg Bear and Gardner Dozois to write additional stories set in the universes that Anderson created.

Terry has always been a Poul Anderson fan and he jumped at the chance to write a...

Fan Picture: Terry At Books In Bloom

2014 Books in Bloom - Terry

Terry attended this last weekend’s Books In Bloom Literary Festival!

And as usual, met some awesome readers and fans of his work. One of those fans, John McDaniel, sent this photo in along with the caption below:

Hello,

I met Terry Brooks at the Books in Bloom book festival in Eureka Springs Arkansas this afternoon. He was very nice and signed all of my and my father’s books. He also posed for a picture with my father, my sister and me and asked our permission to post the picture on his website....

Terry Reviews: Annihilation

vandermeer-annihilationAnnihilation by Jeff VanderMeer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My recommendation this month goes to Jeff Vandermeer’s “Annihilation.” This is a book about a doomed expedition following on the heels of other expeditions into country that has proven to be all but impenetrable and which appears to change those who go into it. The writing is first rate. At times I was reminded of Ursula LeGuin. The author has that uncanny ability to see an issue from more than one side and to make a story that has little...

BrooksBlog: Get Lit at the Beach

terry-brooksHad quite an exciting weekend April 11-13, with the running of this year’s Get Lit At The Beach in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Judine and I serve on the organizing committee, our primary use to trick, cajole or otherwise persuade authors to serve as guests when we give them room and board but pay them nothing. Not always too easy, but this year we were lucky to have 4 terrific authors.

The sweet-natured and always charming Kevin O’Brien, author of some 15 thrillers that will curl your short hairs, w...

Multiverse Featuring New Terry Brooks Story

subpress-multiversePoul Anderson is one of the great grandmasters of science fiction and fantasy.

He passed away in 2001 but he left his work behind for us to enjoy forever, work that has influenced many writers through the decades. Along with anthologist Gardner Dozois, Greg & Astrid Bear have gathered short stories and essays from some of the best names in speculative fiction and published them in Multiverse: Exploring Poul Anderson’s Worlds.

For instance, Terry Brooks contributed The Fey of Cloudmoor, a sequel...
