Poll: Will You Buy The Garet Jax Short Story On Monday?

paladins-weaponmasterschoiceOn Monday, January 28th, The Weapons Master’s Choice will e-publish!

It is the second of three e-short stories in the Paladins of Shannara e-series. The first was Allanon’s Quest, featuring the Druid Allanon and his efforts in locating the last heir of Shannara.

For The Weapons Master’s Choice, Terry has returned to one of his best characters ever—Garet Jax! To say Garet is a fan favorite is a vast understatement. Terry waited for the right story to come around, it did, and he wrote it. Now we...

Sword & Laser Video Interview: Terry Brooks

Terry has a busy 2013 ahead!

He will be publishing four short stories, two novels, and will be conducting two tours that will take him to various parts of the United States. He is also traveling to two domestic conventions—the San Diego Comic Con and Phoenix Comicon—and at least two foreign conventions in Dubai and Italy.

But that’s not all.

He’s also doing a barrage of interviews as usual, answering questions about his work and the craft, talking about the fantasy genre. It’s one of his favorit...

Sneak Peek: Todd Lockwood Bloodfire Quest Interior Art

Sneak peek: From the Todd Lockwood interior art for Bloodfire Quest!

Sneak peek: From the Todd Lockwood interior art for Bloodfire Quest!

Every once in a while, I get to have a little wicked fun with Terry’s fans.

Yes, I’m a fan. I have been a long time. My place alongside Terry and his work gives me the opportunity to see many things before the fans. This is a blessing and a curse. While I get to see and read things early, I also can’t talk about them.

That, my friends, can be quite maddening.

Today’s post is a case in point. The painted image to the right is fro...

Poll: Which Dark Legacy Cover Is Your Favorite?

Wards of Faerie by Terry Brooks
us-bloodfire
us-witchwraith

2013 is going to be a busy year for Terry! And just as busy for me!

Wards of Faerie published in August 2012. It is the first book of The Dark Legacy of Shannara trilogy, a story that takes place after the events of High Druid but is strongly tied to The Elfstones of Shannara. Terry and Del Rey Books decided that the books of the trilogy would be released much closer in time than usual, a gift for Terry’s fans who always wait so patiently for his new books.

The result is Bloodfire Quest being p...

Terry Reviews: The Yellow Birds

The Yellow BirdsThe Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My book this time around is Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers. Yellow Birds has been on everyone’s best books of 2012 reading list, and it deserves to be. A riveting story of life in the ground war in Iraq, it details the lives of Bartlett, the narrator, and a soldier named Murph, whose mother has made Bartlett promise to bring her son home safe. It gives a clear, nerve-jangling picture of combat in a land where the goals and the enemy both ar...

Many have called Wards of Faerie a great book. Having already read Bloodfire Quest, I can tell you Dark Legacy only gets better! The heroes have been introduced in the first book and now Terry turns up the heat—as only he can!

Here is a bit more about Bloodfire Quest:

Shawn Is Alive: No Really, He Is

photo-shawnI’ve had a great year.

After the year I had in 2011, I deserved a great 2012.

As many of you know, I was diagnosed with cancer in May 2011. I went through two surgeries, six months of chemotherapy, and many days where I laid in bed wondering what it all means.

But I persevered. I overcame. I shut up and put up, as they say. And I am stronger for it now.

Throughout the ordeal, I had some important people around me. Friends. Family. And a large internet group of people cheering me from beyond the c...
