Happy Paperback Day!

Today is the official release of the paperback of The Demon's Lexicon, with its fancy new cover! I talk a little more about the process of making that cover here.

There is an amazing thing made to celebrate said release of the paperback here. Isn't it awesome? However, I have no snazzy video-making skills to give you, my internet! All I have are WORDS.

So I have made you a present of some words. It is a story, set a little over a month before the events of Demon's Lexicon, so no spoilers!

For ...

Irish Launch of the Demon's Covenant

'Sarah,' you may say unto me. 'All of this American and London business is very fine. But what about the country of your origin and indeed residence? What about IRELAND? Why are you not launching Demon's Covenant there?'

The answer is... I am!

And, even though the Demon's Covenant is not technically out in the UK and Ireland until May 27th (nine days after the US's May 18th, but these things are fluid) there will be Special Early Copies on sale at this event, May 13th. My first event for the De...

What I Did On My Extremely Businesslike Business Trip

So, this many a long day ago, my agent the Fabulous Kristin said unto me, 'Sarah, I am going to the Bologna Book Fair. You are coming with me, to learn things. Besides, you are European, it is practically next door.'
'Yes, Fabulous Kristin,' I said to her.
'Don't call me that,' she said.
'Yes, Fabulous Kristin,' I replied.

So then I went to book flights, and found out that the airline I collect my frequent flyer miles on only flew me to Venice, and that a couple of days early.

SARAH: OH NO, A WEE...

My US Tour

So, in May an awesome book is coming out. (I do not mean mine. Though I hope you will like that too!)

It is Holly Black's White Cat, the story of a world in which magic is real and has been outlawed since Prohibition, making all magic users outlaws and most outlaws magic users. Its star is Cassel, a boy from a family of workers who is trying to go straight. He is hindered in that by his jailed mother, his mobster brother, his other and kind of more evil law student brother, and that one time ...

April Cookie

I write this sitting on my suitcase. It is the tenth, and that means I owe you a cookie, though soon I and my conspirators must flee England and I return at last to the Cherry Bomb. From there I will write to you about all my adventures!

Until that moment I give you this, and the secret it contains: not all of The Demon's Covenant is written from Mae's point of view. The bits that aren't were all written by me on one sleepless night in an airport in Chicago, fueled by inspiration and buttermil...

Three Books That Made Me Cry Lately

These book reviews gave me a lot of trouble, because I kept trying to talk about these books in a way that was funny! For I enjoy being funny. But these books made me think of Serious Things, even though all of them have funny moments - I've never liked a book that was serious all the time, I don't find them believable at all, and I like these books very much – so I thought I would give up on funny for a minute or two, and talk about that.

Sunday Reading

It being Sunday, I am combining my daily routine of writing with the frenzied hunted air of a hamster taped to a laptop with thinking thinky thoughts about books.

Spinning off of same, here is a guest blog on Books Sarah Rees Brennan Would Like to See As Movies. In which I mainly complain about movies I do not like, because that is the way I roll. But really - who adds an evil twin in a snowglobe? It is never a good idea.

Karen Healey, whose excellent book Guardian of the Dead I will be reviewi...

Winners of the Advance Reader Copy Contest!

Ladies and gentlemen of the blog audience, welcome to the AWARDS CEREMONY I am hosting here today. Please imagine me in a froofy violet ballgown.

Now imagine me tearing out all my hair. I am bald (but in a fabulous ballgown).

You see, I was expecting the entries to be awesome, but I was not expecting them to be quite so awesome. There was really an overdose of awesomeness. Drastic measures had to be taken.

Before I start I must say thank you very much to everyone who entered. I was overwhelmed b...

March Cookie!

Today my advance reader's copies arrived, and so tomorrow I will post the Contest Winners! Today, though, it is the tenth, and you all know that means cookie day.

'Sarah,' you may say at this point. 'When you said you were sorry for not posting more we did not expect you to post every day this week.' But so it is! I have now reached the deadline hysteria, and am mad as a March hare: at least it's seasonal.

I did not get a consensus from the masses about what people desired as a cookie, but it w...
