Come see me DANCE for you! Or, the Smart Chicks Tour

So let me speak briefly of author appearances. I like doing them! I like attending them too: I enjoy heckling from the audience. If you are ever at an author signing and you see a tall vaguely Irish lady asking about inappropriate people making out, that is me! Come say hi.

But back to me doing them. I love it! Talking about books to people who showed up to see some talking about books? It is obviously awesome. I get very nervous of course, but claiming that it is not awesome would be like say...

My beloved blog, I have neglected you too long! I am sorry, I am writing the Demon's Talisman in a state of uplifted madness, hoping to finish the draft before I am away to the Bologna book fair. Soon I promise you contest winners, book reviews, and Strange Adventures in Foreign Places.

For now though, I wish to dazzle you with a beautiful picture! I hope you like it.

Linkin' interesting things of interest

1) Guest Blog: As you guys know, writing the second book of a trilogy was a tricky thing for me, in that I went insane and wrote two different versions! So you may be interested in a guest blog I did about why second books are difficult and yet completely worth it: Sequels: The Dread Attack of the Clones.

2) Crazy Subtitles: I recently did a podcast and was musing on it about Insane Subtitles for The Demon's Covenant: the podcast is not up yet but I have been amusing myself with them. So far I...

Beautiful Creatures Contest & Links

Links of Importance: [info:] con_or_bust is a fundraiser to assist people of color who want to attend WisCon. Bidding on the auction will run from Wednesday, February 22, 2010 (12:01 a.m. Eastern), through Saturday, March 13, 2010 (11:59 p.m. Eastern). You may post auction offers and make donations now. I have made a donation, and wish I could think of something to auction off besides, you know, my liver. Which given that it's an Irish liver, probably would not fetch that high a price...

Maureen and Sarah's Excellent Adventure

I feel it is a while since I had a blog post about the Goofy Stuff I Stumble Around Doing.

So, I was very tired from three months of going round and round and round on cover issues, and the lovely Maureen Johnson was tired from writing the first draft of a book. She has written many books, and they are all awesome. I used to slip The Bermudez Triangle to schoolboys long before I ever met Maureen. (Boy: But it is all purple and pink! Me: Pink for lesbians! Put it in your schoolbag. Do it now!)...

February Cookie

It is February, the month for Valentine's and Chinese New Year's, which at Casa Cherry Bomb means we plan a Chinese banquet with my signature pink cocktails.

And as there were requests for this and it seemed to fit in with the Mood of the Month...

Liannan turned away from them.

"I've always wanted to do this," she remarked. "Summon one of you. Make you see what it's like. I call on the one the Goblin Market calls a traitor. I call on the liar, the demon lover, the murderer. I call on Alan Ryves...

Friday Links

Today I decided to make a post with links in it! Often, I want to say something, and then I find that someone else has said what I wanted to say much better than I could say it, and then I say to myself 'Well, that's done, excellent' and I go back to staring at my Peter Pan as James Bond short story.

For instance, there has been much talking about covers lately. I have not really been able to participate, partly because I was lying on the floor hoping my cover would come so I could share it. W...

Demon's Covenant Cover!

I am delighted to be able to finally reveal my Demon's Covenant cover for the US! I very much hope you guys like it. I hope you think the smoke and light are all pretty, like I do!

(You may think to yourself, 'my goodness, that doesn't look like Mae! What happened to the pink hair?' Let me reassure you on this serious matter: nothing has happened to the pink hair. The model is not Mae, but Sin the dancer. I hope you guys think she is pretty, too!)

The Book Giveaway

So it is time for my Last Book Giveaway. I know it is January. BUT, I had to wait because after all the giveaways, it seemed fitting that I give away my book. Advance copies of The Demon's Covenant, to be precise.

Those of you who've seen the awesome Demon's Covenant teaser banner on [info:] marmalade_fish may already have guessed.

Now, there were a lot of ARC giveaways of Demon's Lexicon, but this is the only one I know of for Covenant! (Because fewer advance copies tend to get made for a second book....

The Demon's Lexicon

Oh, you guys. Oh, you guys, I am so terrified.

So rejacketing a book is a very scary thing, because a) It means the whole series look has been totally changed! So the two sequels are going to look this way and b) It seems people did not like the old cover - oh please please please let them like this one!

I feel exceedingly lucky to have a lovely publisher, Simon & Schuster, who did not just say 'Oh well, Sarah RB, clearly a bust, next please' but who hired The Illustrious James Porto to make ne...
