Read Chapter One 📖
Oh my Gosh, is it STILL January? Why does this month go by so slowly? 2021 went by in a blink and it feels as if a whole year has gone by since New Year Eve!
Anyway, the good news is that we're one week closer to Annie and Frankie coming out in ebook! Many of you have asked about the AUDIO version of the book and the short story is that the narrator I had lined up had to back out at the last minute, so I had to find a new one, and it's not as easy as it seems to find someone with a last minute opening in their recording schedule.
But the great news is that Emma Wilder agreed to help me out! She does one of the BEST male voices I've heard in the industry (male voices coming from a female I mean! HA!) I expected it to take up to 10 days for the audio to go live BUT the exciting news is that it was published in only two days! That's right, you can download Rescuing Annie in AUDIO right NOW! EEK!
EEK!
I forgot all the characters from past books that were in this book. I was just smiling and smiling as I was proof-listening to the audio. Fletch and Emily, Truck and Mary, Tex, ALL the kids, and of course all the other Deltas and their wives (from BOTH Delta series!) Yes, this book can TOTALLY be read without having read all the others, but I hope those who have will love seeing some familiar faces.
If you're wanting to get caught up before Rescuing Annie comes out, I suggest Rescuing Emily (Where you first meet Annie), Protecting Kiera (where you first meet Frankie), Marrying Emily (because there's a lot of Annie in that one), The Gift (which is where Frankie and Annie meet for the first time and this story is in the anthology A Moment in Time), and First Kiss (which is exactly what it sounds like and is in the anthology Another Moment in Time). :)
For your pleasure, I've put first chapter part of the on my website, to give you a glimpse into how kick butt Annie is!

Rescuing Annie Excerpt
“Hello?”
“It’s me.”
Every muscle in Frankie’s body seemed to relax at hearing Annie’s voice. “Are you all right?”
“Yeah.” She sounded tired.
“I was worried,” Frankie told her.
“I know, and I’m sorry. I’m so damn sorry.” Annie’s voice hitched—and Frankie’s breath froze.
He could count on one hand the number of times he’d seen Annie cry. She wasn’t a crier. Much like her mother, she straightened her shoulders and carried on no matter what was going on in her life. He hated that he wasn’t there with her. That he couldn’t see her. When she was deployed, they couldn’t FaceTime, were restricted by the functionality of the satellite phone she carried with her to communicate.
“Don’t be sorry,” he told her firmly. “I’m good. Everything here is fine. You just need to take care of yourself and come home to me.”
“Well, the good news is that I’ll be home sooner than I thought.”
“That’s great, baby. When?”
“Probably four days or so. We need to make a detour to Germany before heading home.”
“Annie?” he said, his muscles tensing all over again. He knew what that meant. The base in Germany had a full-fledged hospital, and was the first place many soldiers were flown when they’d been injured in combat while abroad.
Frankie heard her inhale deeply. “Some of my guys are hurt. We’re all being flown to Germany as a team to be assessed, then those of us who are cleared will be headed home.”
“But you’re okay?” Frankie asked.
“A few broken ribs and a nasty cut on my head,” Annie said.
Frankie appreciated her honesty, even as he felt sick inside. He hated when Annie got hurt while on a mission. He knew it was a potential consequence of her job, but he couldn’t help worrying about her being killed. He couldn’t protect her. She wouldn’t want him to protect her…but God, did he want to.
“I love you,” he said softly.
“Not as much as I love you,” she returned. “How’re things there? Have you gotten any new clients?”
Frankie knew what she was doing. Trying to change the subject away from herself. He ached to hold her. To see for himself that she really was all right, wasn’t downplaying her injuries to try to keep him from worrying. Which was impossible. He’d always worry about her. “They’re good. No new clients, but remember that major I’ve been working with?”
“The one who lost his arm and hearing in the IED explosion six months ago?” Annie asked.
“Yeah. I think I’m finally getting through to him. We actually had a conversation via signing today.”
“I knew you would,” Annie told him, the pride easy to hear in her voice.
Frankie chuckled. “He’s been having such a hard time accepting his disability. But this past weekend he was at the zoo with his grandchild, and he witnessed a kid slip and fall into one of the duck ponds. He saved the kid before anyone knew what was going on. I think that made him realize that even with his loss of hearing and his arm, he isn’t helpless. That he can still make a difference even though he’s not in the military anymore.”
“That’s good,” Annie said softly.
Frankie heard someone yell for Annie in the background. “You need to go,” he guessed.
“Yeah, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. I know how busy you are. Thank you for calling,” Frankie said.
“I called as soon as I got back to the post and could get my phone,” Annie told him. “My commander’s on my ass to get over to the hospital.”
“Jeez, Annie, you haven’t seen a doctor for your injuries yet?” Frankie asked.
“No. I needed to hear your voice.”
Again, he wished he could see her. She sounded off. Which wasn’t like her at all. Typically after missions, she was hyped on adrenaline, or worried about the men on her team. Today she sounded…defeated. Which didn’t sit well with Frankie. At all. “Well, you’ve heard it,” he said sternly. “Now get your butt to the doctor.”
She laughed, a sound that made him feel better. But only a little.
“Okay, okay, I’m going. I’ll call when we get to Germany and when I have a bit more of a concrete timeline on when I’ll be back.”
“Sounds good. I love you.”
“Love you too.”
“See you soon.”
“Can’t be soon enough for me,” Annie said. “Bye.”
“Bye.”
Frankie clicked off the phone, but didn’t move. He stood in the middle of the living room staring off into space for a long while.
Something was wrong.
Well, maybe not wrong…but definitely different.

Get a sneak peek of Rescuing Annie
Are you guys ready?
Ready for ANNIE and FRANKIE?
I think this is probably the LONGEST tease you've had for a book since you were first introduced to Annie back in July 2016 when Rescuing Emily came out! ha!
But Annie is all grown up now. She's kicking butt in the Green Berets, she and Frankie are engaged, but she's not exactly happy. I think a lot of us grow up thinking "THIS" is what I want to do with my life, and then as we get older and we're doing what we always thought we wanted to...we find that it's not as fulfilling as we'd hoped.
Anyway, Annie and Frankie are adorable in this story. They're super in love, and when the sh*t hits the fan, they're there for each other 100%.
I figured I'd start you out with a little excerpt, then I'll share the first chapter, then some teasers. It'll be here before you know it!
(And the audio isn't on preorder...the original narrator I had lined up had to back out and I had to scramble to find a replacement, but I"m hoping it'll still go live a few days before the ebook, but there won't be a preorder. Sorry!)
As always, I've got signed paperbacks in my online store, and you can choose between the original cover that's on all the book platforms, or a special edition that's only available in my store. :) I'll be mailing those around Feb 1st, so you should get it a few days before the ebook comes out.
Please, when you guys are sitting behind your computer, THINK before you hit send on that email or message that's disrespectful or mean. Do you REALLY need to send it? If you had to say the same thing to someone in person, would you? (probably not). Life is too short to be snarky or just plain mean. Put it aside and move on with your life. That's my little Ted Talk for the day.

It's LIVE!
Shielding Sierra
is FINALLY live on all the platforms!
I've been teasing you for months about what's been going on with Sierra and how she's handling her captivity...and it's finally time for the Delta Team Two to go and get her out...but you KNOW that's not going to be the end of her drama! It wouldn't be a Stoker book otherwise!
I've also given you a glimpse of the new series I have started in Aug of this year... The Refuge. I've got the first 2 books up for preorder with more to come (of course).
I hope you all had a safe and happy new year!

Listen to Shielding Sierra Now! 🎧
Listen to Shielding Sierra Now! 🎧
I hope you all survived the holiday! This time between Christmas and New Years is always a little weird for me. Christmas is over, and yet it's still the "holidays." I'm a morning person and not a night person, so it's rare these days that I make it to midnight on New Years Eve (yes, I'm old! ha!)
To help with the weirdness of the week...Shielding Sierra is out in AUDIO! You can get it on Audible or Apple!
I also wanted to share chapter one with you to hopefully make the anticipation for Sierra's story even greater! :) You can check it out on my website, HERE.
If you're celebrating this weekend, be SAFE! Start out 2022 in a happy and fun way. Don't drink and drive and be very careful if you're out and about. If you're at home celebrating, like me...enjoy every second of your time.
Here's to a great 2022!!

Take a break from your holiday prep for an excerpt!
I know most of you are getting ready for the holidays, BUT... Shielding Sierra is going to be here before you know it!
BUT...I hope you're also looking forward to Rescuing Annie which will drop in February! This week I'm sharing a new graphic for Sierra and an excerpt for Rescuing Annie.
Also, if you haven't picked up the FREE anthology featuring twenty authors who write in my fan fiction world, and TWO new short stories by me (one with Annie and one where Tex meets Akilah for the first time), you need to do that before the end of the month. It's available through bookfunnel (and I'll be making my stories available later via all the book platforms).
Stay safe out there. With the crazy weather last week in the midwest and the snow in parts of the north, and of course the hot temps in Australia and COVID still out there...everyone needs to look after themselves.
I'm spending some time in Albuquerque this week with my mama, and then next week I'll be back home writing a new book! There's still time to get some things from my online store for the holidays (or to give the link to your friends and family so THEY can order something for you! ha!)
Be kind!

Shielding Sierra Excerpt
Enjoy this excerpt from Shielding Sierra!
“I swear to you,” Grover said as if he could read her mind. “We’re gonna get out of here. Also, I should probably warn you…I’m gonna want to continue to get to know you when we get back to the States.”
Sierra blinked. Did he just…? “Are you asking me out?” she blurted.
Grover chuckled. It was a bit rusty sounding, but it still sent goose bumps racing down her filthy arms. “Yes.”
“Um…no offense…but…I’m not sure that’s a good idea.”
“Here’s the thing,” Grover replied quietly. “You intrigued me when I met you the first time, Sierra. And now that I’ve found you, and realize exactly how damn strong you are—you have to be, in order to survive what you have—I’m even more interested. I have no idea what will happen when we’re back home. Hell, I don’t even know where you live. But I’m just saying…I want to continue where we left off a year ago. We were robbed of the chance to get to know each other, and that pisses me off.”
Sierra’s heart was pounding in her chest. Grover sounded too good to be real. Then she thought back to her reaction to him when they’d first met…and realized she wasn’t all that surprised by his confidence and assertiveness.
“Fine,” she said, trying to sound as strong as he thought she was. “If we get out of here, I’ll let you take me out on the usual three dates I give any guy before I decide if we’re compatible. But if they suck, all bets are off.”
“Deal,” Grover said immediately.
For a second, Sierra wondered what she’d just agreed to, but he spoke again before she could reconsider.
“And it’s when, not if we get out of here. Where you from, Bean?”
Sierra frowned. “What did you just call me?”
“Shit…um…nothing. Sorry.”
Hearing Grover sound so embarrassed was kind of adorable. “Seriously. What did you say?”
“Bean,” he mumbled. “I just…I considered Flame, because of your spark and your red hair, but Bean just popped out. It’s because…God. It’s because you’re small and cute. Shit! Ignore me.”
Amused, Sierra shook her head. She’d never had a nickname before, and even though Bean sounded a little juvenile, she couldn’t deny she preferred that over Flame. “It’s okay,” she said. “I know you military guys can’t resist giving out nicknames, Grover.”
“At least I got mine because of my last name, not because I resemble the puppet.”
“Are you sure?” Sierra teased.
“Shit, I walked right into that, didn’t I?”
Sierra chuckled—and realized it had been a very long time since she’d laughed about anything. Even if the worst happened in the next few days, she’d always be grateful to Grover for bringing a bit of levity to her life in this moment.

An excerpt and this month's freebies!
Hi everyone! It's rainy and foggy where I am this morning...exactly how I like it! :) I mean, I like the sun, but sometimes, I enjoy huddling under my blankets inside and it helps when it's gross outside to be able to do that and not feel guilty. HA!
I've got some more free books for you this week...and a Shielding Sierra teaser! I know you guys have been waiting FOREVER to find out what's going on with her and for her to be rescued. Not too long now!
First off...free stuff. I've got Claudia Burgoa's Defying Our Forever. Billionaire and second chance contemporary romance. Only free through my newsletter link (see below).
The next free book is An Alpha's Choice by Carrie Ann Ryan. This one is a paranormal shifter story and unlike a lot of wolf shifter books, the Hero's wolf is NOT convinced the heroine is for him (Link below).
And lastly...I'm offering my Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes box set one free for the first time ever. This one has the first 4 books in the series in is: Justice for Mackenzie, Justice for Mickie, Justice for Corrie, and Justice for Laine. It's only free in AU, US, UK, and CA though...sorry! This is a limited time offer, so grab it soon if you haven't already read these books.
And...now what you're REALLY waiting for...the snippet from Shielding Sierra. I loved writing this story. Sierra is SO strong. I wrote her the way I'd want to be if I was in her situation (although the reality is that I'd probably be a hot mess lol). Enjoy.
As a reminder, I've got paperbacks in my online store and will mail them out a week before the ebook comes out. And the AUDIO comes out on Dec 28th, a week before the ebook as well. It's currently on preorder so you can start listening as soon as it's released.
Be safe and healthy out there everyone. And remember...you're loved and important!
