Read, Read, Read...
Securing Piper is live!
This is book 3 in my SEAL of Protection: Legacy series, but it can be read as a stand alone, promise!
There are some twists and turns in this one...many of the readers who have listened to the audio (it went live last week) or who ordered a paperback from my store (they were sent last week) have messaged me to tell me that I'm either mean, a genius, or cruel. ha! (But don't worry, Piper and Ace definitely get their Happily Ever After in this book, I wouldn't do THAT to you!)
One of my readers has described my writing like this:
Susan Stoker is like if Disney and...the Investigation Channel (it’s a cable channel; all sorts of crazy, scary crime scene shows with killers) got together for a dinner party. There might be a beautiful heroine and a sexy-alpha male, but you know you’re going to get some bloodshed, maybe a kidnapping and a gruesome, creepy weirdo lurking in the shadows somewhere.
I love that! :)
Anyway, pick up Securing Piper
today and see what everyone's freaking out about!
Happy reading!

It's August already?!?
It's hard to believe it's August already and many kids in my part of the world are getting ready to go back to school! I saw my first "first day of school" picture on Facebook this week already!
But it being August means we're that much closer to Securing Piper
coming out! In fact you have LESS THAN A WEEK before the AUDIO goes live on Aug 13th! Yes, once again, if you like audio books, you can get Securing Piper a week before the ebook!
This is the third book in my SEAL of Protection: Legacy series and I couldn't resist throwing in a slight jungle rescue scene (you guys know how much I love those...the heroine can be vulnerable and out of her depth, but not a crybaby about it...which impresses the Hero! :) )The book partly takes place in Timor-Leste, for those of you who don't know where that is, it's in the Pacific just north of Australia. I needed a country where the US sent Peace Corps volunteers AND wasn't very well known.
And this story sets up some of what happens in the next books in the series, which is a huge tease and you know I love that. HA!
To tease you a bit more, I'm sharing a short excerpt this week from Securing Piper, to get you even more excited about the book! I truly love Piper and Ace together, and I hope you will too!
~Susan
*****Securing Piper Excerpt*****
“How many people have you rescued?” Piper asked Ace. He was still standing in front of her, hands on her shoulders, waiting patiently for her to stop daydreaming and talk to him.
Ace shrugged. “I honestly don’t know. But it’s been a lot. Some people—not just women, but men too—completely panic, and we’ve even had to knock a few of them out in order to extract them. Other people have literally been frozen with fear, and we had to carry them out of the danger zone. Some have been so out of shape that they physically couldn’t walk more than a hundred yards without stopping. And a few have been so concerned about their own well-being, they had absolutely no empathy for anyone else. We were even in a situation where one of us had been injured, and our target literally said if we didn’t hurry up and get him out of there, he’d sue us.”
Piper gasped. “Seriously?”
“Yeah. So believe me, you’re doing great.”
She swallowed hard, took a deep breath—and the words simply exploded out of her.
“I’m scared to death. I’m sore as hell too. I’m not sure I’ll even be able to walk tomorrow. I’m not really a workout kind of girl, and this is definitely going above and beyond what I’m used to. I’m devastated “about Kalee and the other girls who were killed, and I’m pissed that the rebels thought it was necessary to murder defenseless women and children. I’m worried about what will become of Rani, Sinta, and Kemala when we get to Dili. I don’t like that Phantom is obviously pissed because he couldn’t complete the mission you guys were sent here to do—namely, rescue Kalee. And I feel disgusting because I haven’t showered in days. I stink, I’m tired, and I’m thirsty. And the last thing I want to do is lie on the ground, in the dirt, and worry about bugs and possibly snakes crawling over me all night. I just want to be home.”
Without comment, Ace moved his hands. One went to her nape, the other to her waist. He pulled her toward him and rested his forehead against hers.
Piper wanted to cry, but she was too wrung out and dehydrated to produce even one tear. She grabbed ahold of Ace’s shirt at his waist and held on. Standing like this should’ve felt awkward, she’d just met the man, but after everything that had happened, holding on to him and being in his personal space like this simply felt comforting and right.
“I’d be worried if you didn’t feel all of that,” Ace told her quietly after a few moments. “This entire situation is so far outside your comfort zone, it isn’t funny. You thought you were going on vacation to see your friend and the worst thing that might happen is that you’d get a few bug bites. But instead you found yourself in the middle of a rebel uprising. You’re being too hard on yourself. Despite everything you’re feeling, you hadn’t uttered a word of complaint. I’m “going to get you home, Piper. To that fluffy bed and feather pillow you want so badly.”

First Chapter of Koren is here!
I know you guys have been waiting FOREVER for the first chapter of Shelter for Koren! Well, wait no more! It’s here! If you recall, Koren and Taco met briefly in Shelter for Quinn, but Taco was way too wrapped up in his own drama to be ready to date again. But of course sometimes fate has its own way of stepping in. Find out how Taco and Koren touch base again and if either of them is ready to step it up!
Next week I'm going to pick out a brand new excerpt for your reading pleasure, one no one has seen before, so be on the lookout for that!
I appreciate all of you following along the Badge of Honor ride for the last three years. As I'm sure you're aware, Penelope will finally get her story next. You'll get a deeper glimpse of the stress she's been under in this book too.
I so so thankful to each and every one of you. I have the best readers EVER.

Happy 4th!
Happy first week of July!
(How in the WORLD did it get to be the first week of July already? lol)
For the Americans in the crowd, happy 4th of July! From someone who has pet who are terrified of fireworks, please be considerate if you are going to set these off! (and I'm sure anyone who suffers from PTSD would appreciate that as well!)
This week I'm knee deep in my writing cave, but will come out this weekend to hang with my 24 year old step daughter. I love seeing her as it's been a while!
For my audio lovers, Securing Piper just went up for preorder! You'll get it a week before the ebook comes out.
Also, if there are any German or French speakers here, I've got the first 2 books in my Delta Force Heroes books translated and ready for purchase!
In French: Un hěros pour Rayne and Un hěros pour Emily and in German: Die Rettung von Rayne and Die Rettung von Emily.
Next week I'll be sharing the first chapter of Shelter for Koren (and if you don't remember, poor Taco had a really bad experience with dating in the book before this one, (Shelter for Quinn), here's to hoping he does better with Koren. :)
Be safe out there and always keep reading!

How was your weekend?
I just got back from an AMAZING weekend event called KallypsoCon! It's put on by my good author friend Kallypso Masters. There were 10 romantic suspense authors and 70 readers. We hung out all weekend, laughed, ate, and talked about books!
Now I'm home and trying to get back into the swing of things again. Catching up on book stuff and starting to write another book! :)
Next up in the book lineup for you all to read is Shelter for Koren! It'll be here before you know it! The AUDIO book comes out a week before the ebook, so all you audio fans will be able to listen to it very soon!
There is a giveaway over on Goodreads for a paperback copy of Koren and Taco's story (sorry, only open to US and Canadian entrants...GR's rules, not mine!)
Next week I'll start sharing some teasers and soon I'll put the first chapter up on my website, but if you want to see some sneak peeks before then, I'll be posting them in my Facebook Reader group--> Susan Stoker’s Stalkers!
Thank you all for your support and patience as we wait for July 23rd, and the next Stoker book!
Remember to always be kind!

You Are Strong!
It's been a big year for Stoker releases (seven books already!), but never fear, there are still FIVE more books to come this year!
Next up is Shelter for Koren. For those of you who have been following the Badge of Honor series for the last three years (!) we're coming down to the last two books! All of the stories in this series are stand alones. In Shelter for Koren, Taco is trying to get over his last disastrous relationship and meets Koren while "on the job."
Koren is...normal. She has a job. A loving family. Friends. She meets Taco and suddenly it seems as if she's in the middle of drama central. Someone has been setting fires, and seemingly targeting firefighters...and their significant others. It's hard enough to start a new relationship, but to suddenly have to deal with some real life and death issues might be too much for Koren and Taco.
After Koren you get another book in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy series Securing Piper. In this book you're headed to Timor-Leste (otherwise known as, East Timor). It's a small country north of Australia. There's danger, intrigue, tromping through a jungle, a marriage of convenience, and an unlikely bad guy! Be sure to pre-order this one now so you have it the second it goes live!
This week I'm headed to Washington DC for KallypsoCon, a 3 day event put on by my friend and fellow author, Kallypso Masters. Then it's back to Tennessee to write another book before I head out to Washington State (to Stehekin...anyone remember what book I mentioned this cozy out-of-the-way small town in? :) ) for a family vacation and to spread my father's ashes in one of his favorite places on Earth. Then I'm off to NYC for the Romance Writers of America conference.
No matter what you have planned for the next few weeks, be safe!
And I wanted to end this week's newsletter with a quote I saw the other day. It embodies one of my dearest friends in the world, and I'm guessing a LOT of you out there too.
"You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have."

New book is here!
Happy June!
And...happy new Stoker book!
Defending Harlow, book 4 in my Mountain Mercenaries series is now LIVE! This book is the halfway mark for this series and this story is Black and Harlow's story.
She had a crush on Black in high school and they randomly meet back up ten years later when she's in need of someone to help her with self-defense for the ladies at the women's shelter she is the chef at. Of course things get complicated and Black, and the other Mountain Mercenaries, have to figure out who is behind the harassment of the women and why.
You'll get more Alpha goodness, a protective hero, a strong woman who needs a helping hand at the zero hour, and of course the elusive REX! (What is UP with him anyway? :) )
As always, this is a stand-alone and if you haven't read the other books in the series, you can jump right into this book. BUT...you can get the first three in Kindle Unlimited and get caught up!
This book/series is only on Amazon because it's published by an Amazon-owned company. I know that stinks for my Kobo, GP, B&N, & Apple readers. I know it's a pain to have books on more than one app, but at least all of THIS series would all be in one place on the kindle app.
This one is also live on Audible, so if you're an audio person, you can listen to this one now too!
If you like signed paperbacks, you can get a copy from my online shop....along with T-shirts and other cool swag too!
I hope you love Harlow and Black. I appreciate your support of this series more than you know. Stay safe out there, tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, and be kind!

New book comin'!
Thank you all for the support of Securing Sidney last week! I know it was hard to understand some of the decisions Sidney made, but then again, who is perfect?
BUT now we're changing gears and headed back to the world of the Mountain Mercenaries with Defending Harlow coming out NEXT WEEK! Yes, you read that right! You get two Stoker books two weeks apart!
In Defending Harlow the heroes stay close to home in Colorado Springs, and Harlow comes face-to-face with the boy she had a high school crush on! Of course there's also danger lurking around the corner which will put a damper on their love life! Will you find out who the mysterious handler Rex is? Will the bad guys win out in the end? You'll just have to read to find out!
And because I love you all, I'm sharing the first chapter on my website HERE so you can get a sneak peak of Harlow and Black!
And just as a reminder, the Mountain Mercenaries series is published by an Amazon owned company so it'll only be available on Amazon. I know that's a bummer for many of you and I apologize but it's something I can't control. The Kindle app is free, although I know it's not ideal to have your books on more than one platform. (This one is also in Kindle Unlimited if you are subscribed to that.)
After this book you'll have some breathing room to catch up if you're missed any of my previous releases or just to read other authors you love. :) July 23rd I'll be back with the second-to-last book in my Badge of Honor series, Shelter for Koren.
I hope everyone is all right after the crazy weather we've had in the States with the tornados and flooding, and if you're in Australia, I hope winter isn't being too harsh for you yet! Remember to be kind to one another! This world is tough enough without us all being at each others' throats!

It's time for Sidney!
It's time for a new Susan Stoker book!
This book has a doggy.
A protective alpha hero.
And a heroine who messes up.
Because let's face it, none of us are perfect.
BUT...she has the kind of background that makes you (hopefully) understand why she does what she does.
I hope you enjoy it! Securing Sidney is available on all the book platforms, in audio, and you can get a signed paperback from my website if that's your thing
Happy reading and remember to be nice to those you come in contact with!
