TWO freebies to start your week 😍

I can't let the month go by without sharing some FREE books by my friends with you!

First up is Elle James with SEAL Salvation. You can't go wrong with former military bodyguards, a feisty dog handler, and a three legged former military dog! Better yet, it's FREE!

And I've got a BONUS free book for you today as well! Catherine Cowles is one of the nicest authors out there. She's always offering to share stories by other authors and she's an amazing author as well! :) You can get Beautifully Broken Pieces for FREE. And this is a small town contemporary story with a hint of Suspense (just like Searching for Lilly which comes out this week too!) :)

I promise if you try these books, you'll be hooked! I've read both and thoroughly enjoyed them (and the other books in each series as well!)

As we head into April...take a deep breath...let the annoying actions of others go. Be kind, you never know what someone else is going through simply by looking at them. And if you're struggling, hang in there. you're important, loved, and an amazing person.

Listen to Searching for Lilly now! 🎧

It's SO close! Searching for Lilly is almost here!

It's always nerve wracking to start a new series because no one knows the characters yet. No one is invested.

I always HOPE you guys will love the new team, the new location, the new everything, but there's no guarantee.
In Fallport, VA (where the Eagle Point Search & Rescue team is located) there are a ton of side characters that you'll see throughout the series. I especially love the three old men gossips, Davis, and the sheriff. :)

If you're an audio fan, Searching for Lilly is now out in AUDIO and you can listen before you read it next week. I've also got paperbacks and hardbacks in my online store that are going out now.

I appreciate all of you SO much. Thank you for being awesome! 😃

Get a sneak peek of Searching for Lilly 🎥

I just wanted to thank everyone who is in my reader group on Facebook. I shared a book by an author I had never read before and loved, and many of you stepped up and tried the book and the author out. She was overwhelmed by the support and I appreciate you trusting me and helping another author in the process. I'm so grateful and thankful for all of you, and I love being able to share that love when I can. (and if you're interested, the book was Watch Me Drown, by C.E. Johnson. It's definitely got the "heroine in peril" trope I love so much, with a twist I didn't see coming at the end!)

Anyway...are you getting excited? Searching for Lilly is almost here! March is flying by and the audio will be out NEXT WEEK! Holy crap! Which means the ebook goes live in less than two weeks! I can't wait for you to meet Lilly and Ethan. I've put the first chapter on my website for you this week, for those who want to get a sneak peek beforehand.

I love the town of Fallport, and hope you will too! There are a ton of fun characters who live there and who you'll continue to see in the other books in the series.

In the meantime, stay safe out there. Be thankful for the things you have, tell your people you love them, and please, please, please be kind. Don't argue for the sake of being right, let things fall off your back that don't matter, drive safe, and give your pets a ton of smooches.

Where in the world is Susan? 🌎

Hello wherever you are in the world!

I don't usually share my thoughts on "things" going on in the world. Not because I don't have thoughts, I do, but because you guys are here (and on social media) for the stories. But I've been thinking about the people of Ukraine a lot recently. I can't imagine what they're going through, how many are fleeing the country to try to stay safe, are having to make a choice of what of their belongings to bring that will fit on their back, who are staying because they have nowhere to go or have animals they can't leave, or even leaving their pets behind. Families are being separated, property destroyed, people killed. Meanwhile I'm safe and comfortable in my house. I wish I could do more. I'm writing a short story (with Tex and BAKER!) for a charity anthology and will continue to hope and pray things come to a peaceful end as soon as possible. Stay safe out there my friends.

Okay, back to the book stuff. It occurred to me that I haven't shared the signings I'll be at this year (and there are a lot of them!). We're getting back to the swing of things after COVID and I'm so happy about that. I'm not the best at keeping my website updated, but now that events are happening, I'm going to try to be better. You can find where I'll be, HERE, and find my preorder forms on that page as well. I always recommend you preordering what you want because with over 80 books now I can't bring everything with me and I don't want anyone to be disappointed I don't have what they want at the event. And if you miss out on tickets because the event is sold out, join the Facebook attendee group because people are always trying to sell their tickets as the event gets closer (because you know, LIFE).

Whew, those were some long paragraphs! I hope you're getting ready for Searching for Lilly! I've loved the response to the Bigfoot T-shirts and alternate cover paperback I've got in my online store. There's still time to order and I'll be shipping everything the week before the ebook comes out.

I hope you'll LOVE this new series...because all the characters burrowed their way under my skin (in the BEST way, not a creepy skin disease way! HA!) Check out the little visual teaser below! Not long now and you'll have Lilly and Ethan in your hot little hands!

Be safe and happy out there everyone...and be sure to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you!

Read an excerpt of Searching for Lilly

It's MARCH! WOO HOO!
You know what that means! Searching For Lilly comes out this month! It's the start of a brand new series and I can't WAIT for you to dive into this one!

I know it's hard to start a new series because you don't know the characters, you aren't attached to them (yet!), so I'm sharing a short excerpt below between Lilly and Ethan. As a reminder, Lilly is a camerawoman on a reality show and the episode they're filming in the book is hunting for Bigfoot.

Fallport, Virginia is a town I made up in southwest Virginia at the base of the Appalachian mountains. In my mind, it's a lot like Blacksburg, VA...without the University. ha!

For those of you who like to read physical books, I've got both the paperback and hardback on my online store. AND, I have a special edition paperback without the hot guy for those of you who prefer that. I've got shirts with Bigfoot on them, stickers, a squishy, and even a COIN with Bigfoot. I'm going all out...just because it's fun!

I appreciate the support of each and every one of you and I love that I've found "my" people...people who like to read the same things as I do!

Read on!

"So…you headed into the forest today?”

It was obvious he’d overheard her half of the conversation with Tucker. “It’s undecided. Which means I need to be prepared for anything.”

“Hiking boots, cargo pants, and jacket over a T-shirt, over a tank top, then, huh?”

Lilly couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah. If we were just doing local shots, I could get away with wearing a pair of shorts and my sneakers, but if we go into the forest, I definitely want to be wearing clothes that cover me. Many times we have to back into bushes and stuff to get the best shots.”

“Right. So…your number?” Ethan asked as he pulled out his phone.

Lilly suddenly felt unsure. She was only going to be there for the duration of the shoot, then she was leaving. Luckily, there was only one more episode scheduled for the first season of the show. Then she’d have to decide whether to return to West Virginia or not, and the next job to take.

Admittedly, she wanted to settle down. Find a nice town like Fallport, someplace not too far from her family, and build a life there. As for her job…that was something she’d have to think about. She’d been doing the camera operator gig since she graduated from college, but she couldn’t deny it no longer held the appeal and excitement it once did. Though she had no idea what else she’d do for work.

“Lilly?” Ethan asked. “If you’re uncomfortable giving me your number, you can just stop by On the Rocks and let Zeke know you’re looking for me. He can get a hold of me. Or, hell, Whitney has my number. I’ve rewired most of the electrical system in this house. She can call me.”

“No, it’s fine,” Lilly said quickly. She was just giving her number to the man, not agreeing to move in with him or anything. She blushed at the thought.

“Do I want to know what that blush is about?” Ethan asked with a small smile.

Shit. She’d already forgotten how observant he was. Most people wouldn’t even notice, or they’d politely refrain from bringing it up…but not Ethan.

“No,” she said, knowing she was blushing even harder.

Now he stared at her with a huge grin on his face.

Shit, was he really waiting for her to tell him what she was thinking? There was no way Lilly was going to admit the thought of moving in with him wasn’t exactly repugnant.

“As much as I wish I was, I’m not a mind reader, Lil. Your number?”

Oh! He was waiting for her to tell him her number. Lilly rolled her eyes at herself. Jeez, she was such a weirdo. She quickly rattled off her digits and watched him program them in.

“Got it,” he said as he pushed off the wall and came toward her.

Lilly lifted her chin as he got closer. He was the perfect height for her…not that she was thinking about him in that way.

Aw hell, who was she kidding? She totally was. The man was ridiculously handsome.

He stared down at her for a beat, then nodded as if he’d found whatever he was looking for in her eyes. “Be careful today. I wasn’t kidding last night when I said it was easy to get turned around and lost in the woods.”

“I didn’t think you were. I’ve got my GPS, so I should be good.”

Ethan blinked. “You have a GPS?”

“Of course. When I found out we’d be looking for Bigfoot, I didn’t think we’d be searching the city streets of New York for him.”

Ethan looked relieved at her words. “Good. That makes me feel better.”

“Me too,” Lilly said. “I don’t know how things are gonna go once we get in the forest, but I’m guessing the talent’s not gonna pay any attention to where they’re going. They’re gonna hear something and rush off willy-nilly, leaving us camera operators to follow them as best we can.”

Ethan’s lips twitched.

“Although, if they get lost, that’ll just make for better TV,” Lilly felt obligated to warn.

All amusement fled from Ethan’s face. “They’d do it on purpose? Worry the townspeople, force my team and me to give up a day or more of work, simply because it’s good TV?”

Lilly winced. “Um…”

“Don’t answer that. You don’t have to.”

“It’s just that, while I may have a GPS, I’m not allowed to interfere in anything that happens while the cameras are rolling. I’d be fired on the spot if I did anything that made the viewers realize the talent isn’t walking around in the woods by themselves.”

“That’s ridiculous,” Ethan said in disgust.

“Which part? That we aren’t allowed to help or say anything, or that anyone watching the show might think there weren’t four camera operators, a producer, and a sound guy walking right alongside the cast members?”

“Yes,” Ethan said firmly.

Lilly couldn’t help it. She laughed. “Well, that’s kind of how every reality show works. I don’t like it, but I knew what I was signing up for when I came on board.”

“How about this—if those yahoos get lost, you use your GPS, mark the spot, and get your ass out of there. Come find me. We’ll let them stew for a while before we go bail them out. Deal?”

“Deal,” Lilly said with a smile.

“You aren’t what I thought you’d be,” Ethan said out of the blue.

“I know,” Lilly said seriously. She’d heard that kind of thing all her life. People always expected her to be different than she was. More outgoing. More interesting. More feminine.

“You’re so much better,” Ethan said, almost to himself.

It's time for a freebie!

It's hard to believe, when January went by so slowly, that we're already halfway through February! Before we know it, it'll be Thanksgiving and Christmas again! :)

I appreciate all the notes and messages about Rescuing Annie. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who didn't like how I write Annie and Frankie's story, but it's nice to know the majority of you liked it. Their story was a challenge to write, but I have to admit I did giggle through most of the epilogue when I was writing it!

Next up... Searching for Lilly, the first book in a NEW series. And, I get it, starting a new series is hard. You don't know or care about the characters. You have to learn about a new town, a new team dynamic, and generally "get used to" the new characters. But I'm hoping you'll fall in love with Ethan and Lilly and all the other eclectic characters who live in Fallport, Virginia!

This week for your free book, I'm happy to bring you Ace by Jaime Lewis. Jaime has been a long time reader of mine and I learned a few years ago that she was trying her hand at writing, which was very exciting. She now has over nine books published and is a USAT bestseller! She is a very staunch supporter of the Armed Forces and I have no doubt one of her kids will end up being a Navy SEAL (if her social media posts are any indication). Try out the first book in her Trident Series for FREE.

I'l soon be sharing more about Searching for Lilly with you all! Stay tuned!

Read Rescuing Annie now! 📚

It's here! It's live! The wait is over! Rescuing Annie is FINALLY here!

When I wrote Rescuing Emily, and introduced 7-year-old Annie, I had no intention of writing a story for her. She was "just" Emily's daughter. But then she stole the show at Emily and Fletch's wedding. Then she kept popping up in the other stories. And when I wrote Protecting Kiera I had no intention of writing Frankie's story either...

BUT...after a while, I kind of knew I was going to write their story. And honestly, I love how it turned out. Annie is a kick butt green beret, Frankie is an amazing supporting military spouse, and they simply "work" together.

Thank you all for your patience, and for loving little Annie as much as I do!

⭐Early reviews are in⭐

Thank GOODNESS we're finally done with January! It's always the longest month of the year for me (along with August).

And the wait for Rescuing Annie is almost over! In case you missed it last week, the AUDIO is now live! And part of the first chapter is up on my website! And you can order a signed paperback from my webstore.

Frankie is everything I wish all military spouses could be...supportive, understanding, and loyal. As many of you might know, Mr. Stoker was in the Army and I have to say, it was very difficult to be a military spouse. The moving, trying to find jobs, missing him, worrying about him, the stress...it's not an easy life for sure. I don't concentrate on this aspect in many of my books, but this one definitely shows how important the spouse is.

I appreciate all reviews, but I love these early ones:

"We met Annie as a little girl. We met Frankie as a little boy. The little girl became a woman who determinedly pursue who dreams and got results. The boy grew into a man who was quiet and strong. But what happens when you reach the top of your dream mountain and the view wasn’t what you expected to see? Susan Stoker is a consummate story teller and this is one of her best." ~Lisa

"This Book!! This Book!! OMG! Talk about all the feels! Annie has always been a favorite of mine. To see her all grown and doing her own thing is just amazing! Then to see her in action is even better!! Then we have Frankie! I loved him for her! He is so sweet and kind but he has that protective side too. I could easily *feel*the love that he has for Annie pouring off of him. I was extremely overwhelmed by this story(doesn't happen often). I loved all the action and suspense! The ending just *got* to me." ~Lisa (but not the same Lisa as above! HA)

Anyway...it's almost here! :) Have a wonderful week!
