Predicting Future Trends and Planning For Them

The Research is In – Don’t Ignore It

The world around us is rapidly changing, and everyone is trying to make accurate predictions to adjust accordingly. A new report just published, Vistage CEO Predictions Report for 2022, can help lend light to the challenges businesses face and how to adapt for success. Every business owner should study these findings to understand the current issues and build a strategy based on the newest data.

The study found these areas the most pressing issues for 2022:

The Great Recession

The number one area that poses a challenge for businesses in 2022 is, with no surprise, the great recession, reorganization, the great upgrade – call it whatever you want – this ranks number one across the board, and everyone is having to adjust to it. This problem can seem overwhelming to adjust to, but when we dig a little deeper in the study, we realize that there are different pieces we can align to adapt to this new, changing world.

Product and Pricing

The second most pressing current issue for CEOs is product and pricing. In my 5 Star Success Blueprint, this is actually the second piece I stress; number one is the idea, and next comes the offer. In our current climate, it is imperative that you understand how you are adjusting your products and pricing to manage this changing marketplace.

Performance Management and HR

One of the most significant changes we have seen in the past two years is the shift in recruiting and retaining talent. People clearly have different ideas and opinions on navigating this portion of the world of work — What do we see? How do we need to treat our employees? Are we giving them the recognition they deserve? This is not a fleeting issue; it is absolutely here to stay, and business leaders must have a plan for performance management and HR structures.

Market Development

Market development is the area that feels like you need to be a wizard with a crystal ball to figure out where the world and business are going because no one knows! To succeed, you must know where your ship is headed and keep it firmly on the correct course, headed in the right direction. There has never been a more critical time for business owners, founders, entrepreneurs, or those with a side hustle to know where they want to steer their ship.

Strategic Planning and Growth

With strategy being my area of expertise, I was pleased yet not surprised to see it identified as a top area of importance in 2022. In a time of rapid change and uncertainty, a focus on strategy and growth cannot be overlooked.

Use Strategy To Grow

When I go into an organization, I apply my 5 Star Success Blueprint to help leaders understand where they are in the process, and the sequential steps for success – Number one is the idea, then comes the offer, followed by the system, the team, and lastly the leader – in that order. We typically find that within those five pieces, something is not aligned or lacks strength, and that is where we begin to make the changes and realignment. And just like the research indicates, now is a critical time to understand that overall strategy connects all of the pieces of your business.

People often tell you to focus on doing one thing right, and then everything will magically fall into place – as a business owner, you know that that is not true. You must implement a series of different pieces, optimally aligned, for your business to run effectively. With the Vistage research indicating strategic planning and growth as critical, you need to evaluate your business strategy and determine the strategic planning you need to incorporate to move your business growth forward.

Implement One Strategy Per Quarter

Now is the time to revisit your idea, offer, system, team, and leadership to determine your strengths and weaknesses and see if you might be dropping the ball in any area. Once you know where you need to work, figure out the strategies to implement that will rectify your weaknesses and implement one strategy per quarter – never all at the same time. Focus on that one strategy and then move on to the next. Stop trying to boil the ocean because it is useless. One strategy at a time is where you will find success.

At the Growth Architect, my goal is to help you develop a business strategy that will give you the map you need for success in this changing environment. If you want to learn more about predicting for success and building a strategy for growth, then watch my video, and contact me when you are ready to create your growth strategy.

How To Find Clarity In Your Purpose

Finding clarity of purpose requires discovering what makes you unique and using those qualities to set you apart from the crowd. Life’s purpose can seem shrouded in mystery, but it really all boils down to knowing who you are and what makes you unique. By understanding what sets you apart, you can show up in the world and let others see what makes you exceptional.

Know Who You Are

A mistake many people make revolves around never stopping to really know who you are and what makes you unique. If you don’t know yourself, how can you tell anyone else who you are? Everyone has different traits that come together that make us uniquely ourselves. The truth is that some of these qualities are easier to embrace than others, and we often find that there are qualities that seem to be a hindrance or a flaw – but they are actually your most vital asset. These qualities are so important because they make you who you are and set you apart from others. If you want to be successful, you must discover what makes you different from everyone else and let it become the center of everything you do and build from it.

Identify What Makes You Stand Apart

Camouflage is excellent for survival, but if your goal is to stand out and get others to want what you have to offer, it’s not your friend. The characteristics that make you stand out must be brought out and given the opportunity to shine because they make you different from everyone else. They allow you to show others what makes you uniquely qualified to do what because no one else does it like you. This is why you must pause and evaluate who you are and what makes you, you – it’s the piece that will allow you to begin forming your unapologetic value proposition. You must stop viewing it as something to push aside because it isn’t like other people and begin to embrace it as the most important trait you have to offer because it is.

Reframe To Find Your Strength

Learning to view what makes you different from others allows you to capitalize on why you aren’t like everyone else. Instead of viewing your difference as something that makes you vulnerable, you learn to reframe it as a strength. When this happens, you realize the power you have to sell who you are and boldly state what makes you different from the rest. For example, if your quality is that you tend to be obsessive about every detail and you want perfection, instead of apologizing for being OCD, you can highlight how you will obsess over making sure every detail of the work you complete for them is correct. Being OCD can be viewed as a negative trait unless you highlight it as a reason they need you and how it will make your work better and different from everyone else. When you learn to stop perceiving your uniqueness as a problem and showcase it as a strength, others begin to see it as why they want what you have to offer. Now, your difference becomes powerful.

How Can You Get It All Done? The Smart Way to Set Priorities

Stay Focused on Your Number One Job

One of the critical aspects of accomplishing tasks is identifying your most important job and keeping the main thing the main thing. If you are in business, the essential task will always be to make sales and ensure your pipeline is filled to have the cash flow you need to move your business forward constantly. When you stay focused on what matters most, it will guide your ability to schedule appropriately and is a prerequisite to identifying your correct next steps.

Rank Priorities

Once you focus on the most important job, all other tasks that support that job will need to be ranked by importance. Once your tasks are identified and ranked, you can sort them into a priority list. For example, client calls may be categorized as the top task, followed by following up and driving sales conversations forward. Number three may be creating social media content and authority platform building. And lastly, checking Facebook – you may even find that it is not a priority at all. When you assign a number of importance to each task, it allows you to stay focused. Now, all it takes is discipline to remain committed to your priorities in their order of importance.

Override Old Programming

Stayin committed to that list is more complicated than it seems because your old programming – the way your brain was wired since childhood – is designed to keep you where you are. If you want to make a fundamental change in your life and move your business forward, you must change your mindset and thought patterns. By shifting your thoughts, you can begin to change your outcome. Accomplishing this shift in thinking requires assessing why you are getting off task. Why are you not making the call you said you would make? Why are you on Facebook when you identified it as the least important task? Identifying why you are off task helps you break the habit and keep your word to yourself, which is a critical element of success.

Hold Yourself Accountable

Discipline is a critical element of getting things accomplished. Once you have identified your main job, ranked priorities, and adjusted your mindset, you must commit to holding yourself accountable. You have to work the list – whatever you ranked as task number one must be accomplished first because it is the essential activity. Another organization piece that works is grouping related tasks. For instance, I record all videos and work on content creation on Fridays so that I can move it forward for the next week. This works for me because I can make this day a firm commitment on my calendar, and all tasks that day are related and help me be prepared for the upcoming week. It’s not so much the way you choose to schedule as it is the commitment to the schedule. Holding yourself accountable to the tasks requires discipline and work, but it is worth it when you see the results.

At the Growth Architect, we want to help you find strategies that will increase your productivity and multiply your results. That’s what we do! If you enjoyed this article, check out my video on setting priorities.

What Problem is Your Business Solving?

To be successful, you have to understand what sets you apart from your competitors and be clear on the problems your business solves. By using precise language that establishes solutions to a client’s problems, you can determine the exact elements needed to create your value proposition.

Who Is Your Client?

It is impossible to solve any problems without knowing who your client is. To answer this question, you must pause and think about the people who need your services; become crystal clear about what this person needs, who they are, and what their problems are. When you are familiar with exactly how they feel, you can pinpoint their emotions, which is how you identify their problem; then, you flip it, to create your solution.

What Is Going On In Your Clients’ Heads?

Once you have determined who your client is, the next step requires you to crawl inside their heads and understand what they are thinking. What is really bothering them – why are they not sleeping? In marketing, they call this – what keeps them up at night. You have to figure out the conversation they already have inside their heads and how you can enter that conversation. Find a way to say – is this you – do you resonate with this problem, and once they see that you understand their situation, you have successfully made the connection. Now you can create the exact solution because you understand the challenges they’re having, and you can communicate a deep understanding – I see your problem, and I have exactly what you need to fix it.

What Problem Are You Solving?

When you know your client and learn to climb into their heads to understand what they need, it makes it simple for you to determine the exact problem you are solving. In growth architecture, we always reverse engineer to define steps. Flipping their problem allows you to process and create a solution specifically designed to meet your clients’ needs – to solve their unique problems. This enables you to create a solution specifically for the problem in the exact language you need to use to speak to your client’s needs.

This technique is something that I teach clients to do, and I am excited to provide you with a tool that will walk you through this process for free. When you visit www.airtightavatar.com, you will find a tool with the precise steps to determine the answer to all of these questions in a convenient checklist format to develop an actionable plan for your client. This guide will help you determine if the language you are using clearly and concisely solves the problems your client needs solved.

At the Growth Architect, my goal is to help you develop a plan that will give you the tools you need to help you reach your goals. If you want to learn more about determining the problem your business solves, watch my video – I give great detailed examples, Contact me when you are ready to develop your growth strategy!

What is the Best Use of Strategy in Business?

Developing a strategy is always about maximizing your potential to go into a situation and leave with what you want. Building a solid business strategy optimizes the odds of gaining your desired outcome.

Strategy is Part Of Your Life

Discussing a business strategy can make some people nervous because they don’t understand what a business strategy is and often are unsure how to develop a strategic plan. Whether you realize it or not, strategy is used every day of your life, and it is nothing to be afraid of. Strategy is about asking yourself questions to go into a situation and leave with the outcome you desire. For instance, if the goal is an exploratory meeting – What is my objective? How should I approach the conversation to get the information I need? When you answer these questions, you are developing a strategy.

Know Your Objective

It is almost impossible to reach the outcome you are looking for without a specific objective guiding your efforts. Developing a strategy based on results means that you are particular to the person or audience you are working with. Without an adequate strategy that adjusts your approach to different situations, you rarely reach your desired outcomes. This is true both face-to-face and in the digital world. If you are using LinkedIn, your strategy needs to be connecting with new people in a specific industry. Your approach is to connect and build a relationship and let them discover why they need you. It should not be to connect and then come in with a hard sales pitch. This rarely works because the person knows nothing about you, has never heard of you, and there is no relationship at all – this is bad form. A better LinkedIn strategy is to connect and tell them why you wanted to make a connection with them – make it about them – not you.

Maximize Your Results

Strategy in business is always about maximizing your potential to go into a situation and get something out of it. So you must go in with a strategic approach focused on your desired results. Once you know the desired outcome, you can reverse engineer your strategy. When conducting business, you always want to keep your desired outcome in mind – How can I get where I need to go? To create a clear, ideal result, you must focus on what the other person wants and needs and how they can benefit from what you have to offer. This reverse engineering allows you to develop a tight strategy focused on outcomes to maximize your results.

Impact Responses

Developing a strategy focused on outcomes also allows you to plan meetings that put you in control of emotional reactions. Going into a meeting with clear objectives focused on the end result enables you to reduce the number of emotional responses people on your team might have because it emphasizes outcomes. One of the critical parts of strategy is that you can ensure others understand clearly, and precisely that you showed up with a plan and you mean business.

At the Growth Architect, my goal is to help you develop a business strategy that will give you the map you need for success. If you want to learn more about building a better business strategy, then watch my video, and contact me when you are ready to create your growth strategy!

Team Optimization – What You Need to Know

Change Is Not Going Away

We all know that the one constant is change, but there’s change, and then there is radical change – and we have been living through more change in the past two years than many of us could have ever imagined. I have news; it’s not over. It seems like just when you get one thing figured out and another element changes because that is how quickly change has occurred over the past two years. This constant change can create burnout, exhaustion, and a lack of control. When things feel out of control, it creates an environment of distrust, lack of safety, and a place where you can’t ever seem to find any peace or relax. By taking the time to understand that this change has created needs within your team, you can make strides in team optimization.

The Workforce Has Shifted

Your business has likely experienced massive turnover and difficulty finding people to hire. As we see COVID winding down, there is a temptation to jump back into work and push your business forward. But the truth is that things are not the same, so you will not be able to go back to what things used to look like in the office. We are going into a different work environment that runs on a completely different business model. The aspect that has changed the most is that employees are finally getting the recognition they have deserved the entire time.

Your business is your people, and to recruit and retain your talent, you must emphasize more than productivity – you have to focus on your people and relationships. With people having the upper hand in the workplace, called the “great upgrade,” it is time to look at your strategies and how you plan to execute this people-focused shift.

Know Your Change Agents

To truly optimize your team, you must know your people and their strengths and personalities. The most important identification is knowing who can lead through change to lead a transformational change. These are the leaders who will be able to help you adjust your business strategy and make it stick while in this constant moving water where all of these moving parts are still up in the air. If you are unsure who these people are in your organization, you need help finding them. It will be almost impossible to pull off success right now without them.

Consult With A Professional

If you are unsure how to identify the strengths in your building, your change agent leaders, and how to lead the rest of the team, you need to consider hiring a consultant. There may have been times that team optimization was not at the top of your list – now is not that time! You need to find someone who can help you identify the leaders that can lead with charisma and skills to help you push through to the next level. Allowing these leaders to drive change will give your organization purpose and a clear path. Without it, productivity will be stifled because no one will know where to go or what to do next. Even though you may think you know your people well enough to do this, it is always a good idea to get a fresh perspective on maximizing the talents within your team.

At the Growth Architect, my goal is to help you optimize your team to help you reach your goals. If you are looking for a consultant to come alongside and assist you in team optimization, I am here to help. I would love for you to join the group of leaders that have come to me to help them get results. If you want to learn more about team optimization, watch my video, and contact me when you are ready to develop your growth strategy!

Stop Taking Failure Personally

Quite often, I am asked how I could deal with so much failure in my life and learn not to take it personally. I was $135,000 in dept, a single mother; I endured fires, floods, riots, earthquakes, a nasty divorce, a lawsuit – and the hits just kept coming and coming. It has everything in the world to do with my mindset and how I choose to look at failure.

Failure Is Not Failure

Things are going to happen in your life, really tough things, and your reaction is likely to think that it feels like failure. When these overwhelming events occur, many people look at the situation and think of themselves as complete and utter failures. It becomes difficult to see anything other than the bad things going on, and you just can’t seem to figure anything out. My advice to my private clients and anyone I speak with is to stop viewing failure as failure and see it for what it really is – a map.

Use Failure As A Road Sign

Instead of viewing failure as an adverse event, reframe it as a huge stop sign saying, “Don’t go here!” The failure is actually lighting your path in a new direction. When you learn to shift your perception from viewing yourself as a failure who keeps making mistakes to a mindset of eliminating a particular path, you can begin to appreciate failure as a process for crossing items off of a list and looking for a new route.

Find A New Route

Begin to view failure like you view a faulty route on an outdated GPS. You know, that feeling when you are trying to reach a location, and there is construction that your system does not recognize — you can see the building, but you can’t get to it? Instead of reaching your location, you somehow end up in a cul de sac, and you have to figure out how to get where you want to go using another route. You don’t hop out of your car, throw a tantrum and begin to declare yourself a loser and an idiot. You stop and realize something has changed, and you start planning another route. If you take a couple of new turns, the GPS can always reroute you to get to your destination.

This is the exact way you must begin looking at failure. You find a route that is not going to work and use it as a big sign saying that you can get there, but you will have to take a different course — shift failure from a negative emotion into a learning opportunity that is navigating you toward your ultimate destination.

At the Growth Architect, your growth is at the height of importance, and our goal is to help you reach your full potential. If you want to learn from someone that doesn’t just give resilience lip service, but has lived a life that required it, then join me at The Growth Architect and watch my video on not taking failure personally.

Overcoming The Great Fatigue

In our current environment, exhaustion and fatigue are prevalent everywhere. So, what are you going to do to overcome fatigue and the feeling of being emotionally burned out? Now is the time to address the feeling of being wiped out and ensure you are taking care of yourself.

Acknowledge Where You Are

Nothing can change until you are willing to look in the mirror and honestly assess where you are right now. Acknowledging that you are experiencing exhaustion and burnout is critical to allow yourself to make the necessary changes before you hit a breaking point. Evaluate where you are and then ask yourself critical questions – Do you need to take some personal time off? Is social media causing some of these feelings? If so, do you need to purge social media for a while? To begin overcoming this fatigue, it is imperative that you step back and truly acknowledge where you are in your life.

Adjust Your Priorities to Your Values

Once you have asked yourself these probing questions and been truthful about where you are on the fatigue continuum, it is time to evaluate your priorities. Unfortunately, when we experience exhaustion, we tend to transfer frustration to those around us that we love – our friends and family. This often means that our priorities are not aligned with what these important individuals in our lives need, and our relationships can begin to suffer. We may find ourselves having a harsher tone, using short answers with the people we love, and neglecting to be present with them. When you recognize these behaviors, it is time to assess if your priorities are aligned with your values. If you are not taking care of the most valuable people in your life, it is time to sit down and set priorities based on what is important to you. It is important to remember that your connections with your friends and family are preserved and always a top priority.

Schedule Time For Yourself

The final piece to overcoming the great fatigue requires action within your calendar. It is not enough to admit where you are and align your value system – you have to make changes that involve your time. To do this, get out your calendar and block off time just for you. Whether it is a massage, time for a walk, or some other activity that brings you peace and allows you to regroup, place these activities on your calendar, and treat them like essential appointments – because they are. When you realize that you are living in fatigue and emotional burnout, there is never a more critical time to make sure you are taking time to take care of yourself.

Three Reasons Why You Should Add Curiosity to Your Toolbox

Detach From the Outcome

One of the most productive reasons that curiosity fuels success is because it allows you to detach yourself from the outcome. In business, when you incorporate a new strategy and approach it with curiosity, it enables you to step back and see if it works with an evaluative mindset. Using curiosity makes it possible to put a timeframe in place and see if the strategy is right for you. By learning to implement a strategy without feelings attached to its success, you can honestly assess the results and say –yes, I like it, or no, this is not a good fit for me. When you can determine if the approach works and is aligned with your values, then it helps carve your path for success, and curiosity will help you see your results with a receptive mind.

Feel Like a Winner

When you learn to use curiosity, it allows you to feel like a winner because of your ability to detach yourself from making a judgment based on the outcome. When something doesn’t work, you can approach it with an appreciation for not wasting more time, energy, and resources implementing a failing strategy instead of being frustrated with the outcome. Without a curious approach, your most likely feeling would revolve around disappointment for wasted money and effort. By using curiosity, you learn not to judge the outcome and to view success or failure as a guide for your next steps. Using curiosity shapes your perception from good or bad to an appreciation for the process.

Discover Working Strategies

Every leader should be using the lens of curiosity to determine which strategies to try out with your business. I recommend that you implement a lead generation strategy on a digital platform every quarter – Instagram, Twitter, Facebook Ads, Google, Yelp – whatever you choose, and you fine-tune those strategies continuously. When you use curiosity as the main emotion in your business, it prevents you from negative emotions and allows you to make decisions based on results and not emotions while guiding your strategic adjustments.

When you know how to harness the power of curiosity, you feel a lot more like a winner, and it helps you look at your business with the curiosity of which strategies you should implement. Be curious – it is an essential emotion for reaching success.

At the Growth Architect, my goal is to help you develop a business strategy that will give you the tools you need for success. If you want to learn more about using curiosity to grow your business, watch my video and contact me when you are ready to create your growth strategy!

What is Business Strategy?

When you develop a business strategy, you determine the steps you need to take to achieve your business goals. Strategic planning is essential to your success because it breaks your plan down into specific action steps that will lead you to success. Don’t be afraid of strategy – it is actually quite fun, and successful strategy execution leads to results.

Know What You Want to Achieve

Before you can craft the pieces of a strategy, you must determine what you want to achieve; this becomes your goal. Then, you begin creating a plan to reach your ultimate goal with specific pieces of the plan to reach success. For instance, if your goal is to make a million dollars a year, you will sit down and calculate how you could achieve that number. You may complete one sale at a million dollars, ten sales at $100,000, or 20 sales at 50,000 – You have to figure out how many sales it will take to reach your goal. Then, you figure out how many sales you need to make each month and how much you will charge. An essential step in this process is to look at what you offer and determine its worth. Then you will design a strategy that goes into this offer, so it is worth its actual value.

Determine What Needs to Change

If you are not reaching the goals you have set for your business, you must evaluate what needs to be adjusted in your strategy to experience success. If you want to grow by 20%, you will have to adjust your strategy to reach your goal – something has to change. It is impossible to get that 20% increase without changing something; it could be time worked. At some point, you will run out of time, and when that happens, you will need to adjust your business model and work fewer hours for more money. To do this, you may have to shift to attract different clients that can pay more money. That is what strategy is all about; it shifts depending on your business goals. Strategy is a straightforward, numbers-driven process – if this is what you want, then this is what you need to do now to reach your goals.

Understand That Growth and Strategy Are Different

Many business owners think strategy and growth are synonymous terms, but they are not. Strategy leads to growth, but it is not, in itself, growth. I speak a good deal about sine waves in businesses – when you are working harder and not seeing results. The results you see may be based on working a great deal harder, but as soon as that drops off, your outcomes drop off, too. It drops because while you were working hard, you did not build your clientele and have clients and jobs in the funnel. You may grow for a season, but you did not execute your strategy, so you cannot sustain your growth. You end up right where you were to start with. Strategy is not growth, but it does lead to growth when followed and executed. Strategy must be mastered if you want to be successful in business.

At the Growth Architect, my goal is to help you develop a business strategy that will give you the map you need for success. If you want to learn more about building a better business strategy, then watch my video, and contact me when you are ready to create your growth strategy.
