What Is Strategy, And How Do You Start Creating One?

Everyone seems to talk about the importance of strategy, yet rarely do you ever learn how to design a successful strategy to grow your business. Because strategy gets glazed over and talked about broadly, developing a business strategy can seem overwhelming and like an unnecessary step that wastes productive time. In reality, strategy is your goal broken down into pieces that become the roadmap to navigate your business to success. If you are serious about reaching your goals, it is a step that you cannot afford to ignore.

Know Your Goal

Before you can craft the pieces of a strategy, you must determine what you want to achieve; this becomes your goal. Then, you begin creating a plan to reach your ultimate goal with specific pieces of the plan to reach success. You start this process by taking the time to sit down and literally write your goal down on paper. What does this business even look like? Is it a laptop lifestyle? Does it involve travel, or do you need to be at home? How long do you have to reach your ultimate goal? Once you have a clear picture of where you’re going, you can build a strategy to get there.

Chart Your Destination

When you have a clear picture of your goal – where you want to go – strategy will get you from where you are to where you want to be. I like to think of this as charting your course on a trip. For instance, let’s say you are visiting a city like New York and you want to visit the Empire State Building. You pull up the map, find the red “you are here” dot, locate your destination, and then you can use multiple methods and routes to reach your destination – the subway, bus, taxi, or walking – you can compare courses, rates, and time it will take you to get there. What you are doing is choosing a strategy to get there that works for you. Then, you can make a decision based on what you need – fresh air, to get there as fast as you can, or a route that takes you near places to eat.

When you know your destination and recognize your needs, you can chart the perfect course for you. That is why strategy becomes your best friend because it allows you to find the best way to reach your business goals.

Plan the Details

Once you know your destination and why you need to go that way, your broader strategy gets broken down into smaller pieces. Following the travel example, this would look like planning the details – What will you wear? Who is going with you? What time of day will you leave? What items do you need to bring with you? These are the sub-strategies that go under the larger umbrella of your overall strategy. These smaller pieces and fine-tuned details allow you to reach your ultimate goal and serve as markers along your path to success.

As the Growth Architect, my goal is to help you develop a strategy that will provide you with the strategies needed to help you reach your goals. If you want to learn more about creating a business strategy, watch my video, and contact me when you are ready to develop your growth strategy!

How To Monetize Your Podcast

The purpose of your podcast should be to bring money into your business and build your authority. If you are not monetizing your podcast, then it is time to adjust your podcast strategy and shift your audience from listeners into customers.

Overcome Misconceptions

One of the biggest misconceptions I see with most podcast hosts revolves around the expectations of going viral; I call it the Joe Rogan concept of owning the air. At some point in the future, they will make it big – huge – and amazing things will happen. But when asked to explain these amazing things that are going to happen, they have no answer, no clue – zip, nada, zilch! Of course, you want to accumulate a multitude of listeners, but you have to plan how all these guests can begin to translate into money. You must get past the thought of simply wanting fans and figure out how your listeners can help you generate income.

Turn Listeners Into Customers

As a podcast host, every action you take must focus on your podcast’s monetization strategy. Your goal is to figure out a way to turn your listeners into customers or build your authority. Every new listener needs to be viewed as a prospect, and you are using this time to nurture them into customers or build your authority in a way that takes you to a different level. When you view your podcast this way, you begin to build potential clients and elevate yourself by reaching a different caliber of guests.

Evaluate Your Strategy

If you are not making money right now; if you are on the air, but you are not turning your podcast into dollars, and you have no products or services to sell; if you have listeners that love you, but they are not buying anything, then you have a major problem – You have a hobby and not a business.

As the Growth Architect, I want to help you make this shift, build authority, and use your podcast to make money by providing you with strategies specifically designed to help you make this shift. My Masterclass is launching right now that will teach you the steps needed to monetize your podcast. If this is something you need, email or DM me your information, and I can provide you with information on how to join my free Masterclass that will help you begin to monetize your talent. If you want to know more, check out my video.

Why Are They Not Buying My Product Or Service?

You have spent countless hours slaving away, creating an incredible product, crafting your offer, or designing a fantastic service. The landing page is built, the funnel, everything is ready – you put it out there and…CRICKETS! Why is your product not selling? Can you fix the problem? You may ask yourself what you did wrong and search for a solution to this enormous problem. If this sounds like an issue you are dealing with, it is time to kickstart your sales, and it all begins by asking yourself the right questions.

Analyze From Step One

When items are not selling, go back to the very beginning – your idea. It is not uncommon to see coaches, consultants, and experts come up with an idea that someone needs a particular product or service. They see a problem and then go out and create a product or service that solves the problem based on what they determine would fix the issue; this is all based on how they feel and what they see as a solution.

The product or service is announced; it is powerful and the answer to what everyone needs, but no one is buying it. Why? Because they committed the fatal error of assuming that the person who needs the product or service understands their problem and sees what they are offering as a way to fix it. Often, when people have an issue, they are not self-aware enough to understand the cause of their problems, they just know that something is wrong, and this is why no one is buying what you are selling – they don’t even know they need it.

Understand Your Buyer

One of the most critical areas to address when understanding why people are not buying what you are selling is to look at who your buyer is and then crawl inside their heads and understand what is going on in their thoughts. What are they thinking about? What is keeping them up at night? What are they spending their money on or saving for? Typically spending revolves around educating their children or vacations – self-development is rarely high on their agenda. If you are providing a product or service that falls into a self-development area, you can see how important it is to have a compelling value proposition for someone to spend money on your service.

Uncover Wants and Needs

Ultimately, it comes down to knowing the needs, wants, and desires of the person who will be buying your product and becoming familiar with how they spend their money. When you understand them on a deeper level, you can begin to predict their buying behavior by truly understanding what they want; this is the trick to creating a product people will pay for. They may not be aware of their needs, but they absolutely understand what they want. It is almost impossible to sell someone a product to solve a problem they are completely unaware they even have. It is your job to understand what they think they need, but create a product or service that solves what they see as the most important – not what you see. Ultimately, you hope to fix what they really need – the core problem – but your offer has to be based on fixing the problem that they can actually see.

Ask Yourself Probing Questions

So, how do you begin this process? Go back to the first step of my Five Star Success Blueprint and look at your offer and ask yourself these probing questions:

What do I have to offer? Who am I selling to? What do they need? What problems are they having? Where are they, and why am I the right person to sell this product or service to them?

You must answer these questions first; then, you can create your offer because the offer solves their real problem.

As The Growth Architect, I am committed to helping you learn how to create products and services that actually sell. Helping you accomplish this is so important to me that I am launching a webinar masterclass training dealing with this exact topic. If you are interested in creating products and services that sell, watch my video to find out more about creating products and services that sell, or you can also check out YourBusinessMC.com for other upcoming masterclasses.

How To Use Strategy

If you are a business owner trying to take your business to the next level, your business strategy is the most critical area to address. When you develop a business strategy and determine the steps you need to take to achieve your business goals, the next piece is stepping forward and implementing your strategy. Using your strategy effectively boils down to understanding your overarching idea and then carrying that plan forward. Once you assess where you are and where you want to be, you can use your strategy to adjust what you plan and reach your desired outcomes.

Know Your Big Idea

Your overarching idea determines the strategy for your business. Before a single piece of effective strategy can be crafted, you must determine what you want to achieve and where you want to take your business. Are you looking for a laptop lifestyle with lots of freedom? Do you want to travel? Are you working around children at home?

Once you have a clear picture of what you want to accomplish, it is time to incorporate my 5-Star Success Blueprint, a personalized strategy that allows us to quickly diagnose areas within an organization where problems are stifling progress – the idea, the offer, the system, the team, or the leadership – and adjust according to your desired outcomes.

Create A Judgment Free Mindset

A successful approach to strategy is from a judgment-free perspective that assesses what works for you, not what strategy works for other businesses. In my own business, we launched a Facebook strategy, spent money on subscribing to a service, and hired a talented person to help our posts go viral and experience substantial growth in our group. It sounds like a fantastic strategy that works for thousands of companies – but it was not working for us. Why? Because our prime clientele is not exceptionally active on Facebook; they are business owners who are serious about growing their business and searching for a way to maximize their systems and strategies – even if they have a Facebook account, they are certainly not on it 24/7, so our strategy didn’t work. Yes, we had spent money on it, but that is not why you continue an approach.

You advance in your strategy when the strategies are aligned with your goals, and this one was not, so we let it go. Does this strategy work – yes; did it work for us – no. You create a judgment-free zone by resisting the temptation to judge if a strategy works based on others’ successes or failures. It must match your goals and your clients.

Look For The Missing Piece

To reach alignment in your business, it is imperative that you look at strategies in a quest for what your business is missing. Suppose you don’t have a lead generation strategy in place. In that case, you need to find one – direct outreach, cold calling, LinkedIn, hosting or guesting podcasts, speaking, networking, conferences – choose the method that will be most effective in helping you get leads. Find one or two that will work for you and focus on perfecting your approach. The trick is to shift your mindset into an evaluative mode to assess what is working for you and discover the missing piece.

Learn From Industry Experts

I highly recommend you begin listening to our podcast, The Business Growth Architect Show, which is all about strategy. Each week, I invite an industry expert to do the show, and we share one strategy that has proved highly effective for them. My goal is to expose you to the vast number of strategies out there so you can see multiple approaches to success and, in doing so, allow you to feel more confident in utilizing strategy in your business.

At the Growth Architect, I want to help you develop a business strategy that will give you the map you need for success. If you want to learn more about implementing your business strategy, watch my video, and contact me when you are ready to create your growth strategy!

How to Create Products and Services That Sell

Your goal as a business owner is to reach clients that need what you have to offer and then sell it to them. When you take the time to understand who your clients are, you can actually ensure that you create products and services that sell.

Get Inside Your Client’s Head

To create a product or service that sells, you must know what your audience is thinking. To understand others on this level, close your eyes and think about one particular client or group of clients and crawl inside their head – imagine their state of mind and what they are currently experiencing. Are they frustrated, confused, or feeling unvalued? How has their work environment changed over the past year; have there been layoffs; has their organizational status shifted? When you take the time to get inside your client’s head, you can begin to see what state of mind they are in, and this is the first step to creating something others desire and need.

Know What They Need Right Now

Once you understand what is going on inside their heads based on their current situation, it is time to ask yourself a critical question: What do you need to say or do in that moment to get their attention? The most vital part of creating a successful product or service is not figuring out what you think they need – your success will be found in understanding their state of mind – what they need right now. Once you determine this, it is time to tell them an immediate hook; how what you have to offer can help them solve their current problem. You are not solving a future problem. You are offering a solution to an actual, current situation, meaning they will need what you offer.

Dig Deeper Into Their What and Why

Often, there is a mismatch between what you know your client needs and their ability to picture their real problem accurately. If they knew their actual problem, they would likely find a solution on their own. They can’t solve it because they are unaware of the root cause of the problem. You will hear them say things like they are completely overwhelmed, but the feeling of overwhelm is actually a symptom of another problem. As an expert service provider, it is your job to dig in deeper and ensure that you truly understand them. Your goal is always to talk to them and never at them, which is why it is essential to crawl inside their head and into their state of mind to envision and feel what they are going through.

As The Growth Architect, I am committed to helping you learn how to create products and services your clients want. Helping you accomplish this is so important to me that we are about to launch a webinar masterclass training that will deal with this exact topic. How To Get the Amazing Client Testimonials That Are Not Boring and Fake

Client testimonials can be one of the most powerful tools for attracting potential clients to your business – but they must be created correctly, or they will feel generic and stale. I know you have experienced testimonials that missed the mark – Working with Suzie was great; Suzie did a great job; I like working at Suzie’s place; I recommend Suzie – this hardly makes people want to run out and work with you. There are specific steps to take that will harness the power of your client’s experience. Never assume your clients will figure it out – be clear and precise about exactly what you want.

Ask The Right Questions

To get the testimonials you are looking for, the thing that matters most is asking the right questions. The more explicit you are with what you want, the more likely you will get a testimonial that will help you tell your client’s story of working with you. These are the specific questions that I ask my clients:

Can you state your name, who you are, what you do, and where you are from? For instance, Hi, my name is Suzie; I’m a business owner; I am known as the Growth Architect, and I live in Los Angeles.
What problem did you have when you came to me? When someone comes to me, the answer to this question typically revolves around answers like – my business was not growing consistently; I could not accurately articulate what my business is about and what we do; I needed to scale my business; I lacked strategy and was overwhelmed. This question is critical because it allows others to relate to the struggles of others and see that you can help them, too.Now that we have worked together, where are you now? This question allows clients to expound on how you met them, where they were when you started working with them, and how you helped them solve their problems. What would you tell someone who wants to work with me? This final question matters because it lets prospective clients know what to expect when they sign on with you and answers the question — why you?

Encourage True Feelings

When clients provide testimonials, you must encourage them to be honest. The more passionate and genuine they are about the experience, the more likely their words will connect with others. If it was overwhelming – say it was overwhelming. If it was intense – say it was intense. If they are excited – say you are excited. We are not in charge of their feelings; we want them to be real. When your clients are authentic, their personalities shine through, and numerous personality types are out there. You want to capture this in their testimonial.

Don’t Let Time Pass

Never underestimate the importance of timing. The testimonials your clients leave will be much more powerful and full of energy if you get their reactions right after they work with you. When I complete a session with a client, I give them the questions, leave them with the recording light on, walk out, and let them give their testimonial on the spot. By taking advantage of that moment, I get a fresh expression of the experience. When you wait a prolonged period of time, the recollection of the session diminishes, and the duller the testimonial becomes.

If you work together remotely in a video session, you can pin them as a spotlight, take your picture off the screen, and allow them to answer the questions while recording them live – then you have their testimonial immediately and can edit if needed. The most important thing is to get their thoughts as soon as you finish working together.

At the Growth Architect, we want to help you reach your business goals. By working my model for getting great client testimonials, you can take the guesswork out of the process and start getting testimonials that speak to potential clients. If you want to know more about getting great testimonials, watch my video.

How To Get Yourself Out of a Funk

Uncertainty and overloaded schedules are prime conditions that can leave most of us feeling overwhelmed and distracted. If you are anxious and unsure how to get your head back in the game, you may be looking for ways to get yourself out of a funk. When you can’t figure out how to get yourself fired up and believe in yourself again, you can boost your confidence and reverse the mental burnout and dread by taking steps to shift your mindset.

Understand What Is Going On in Your Brain

One of the most important concepts to understand when looking at anything that has to do with our reaction to events, stressful situations, and times that create uncertainty is that your brain is hardwired to keep you where you are. I like to use the analogy of a USB port in your head that is plugged in and continually running an old program on a loop – over and over again. This old programming loves to bombard you with negative thoughts – This is too much work; What is this good for, anyway?; This will cost too much to accomplish; Why are you even thinking about doing this? – If you are in a funk, you know the thoughts that have crept into your mind and are running continuously.

To change this thought pattern, you must upload a new drive into your mind and override the old programming with a completely new code. This is the only way to get out of a reactionary mindset and quiet the thoughts causing so much dread and paralyzation to progress.

Stop Choosing Distractors

You need to take action to stop the spiral of dread and negativity that is running over and over in your head and access different programming. The stagnant place you long to escape begins to disappear when you make a choice to focus on tasks. Whether you realize it or not, you have likely been falling into the temptation of distractors instead of choosing to complete tasks. When you catch yourself drifting off on websites, newsfeeds, Facebook, or Instagram – entertaining yourself with your favorite mindless activities – pause and recognize that these meaningless stops keep you from the tasks at hand and keep you from making progress and money. Stop choosing them and choose to focus.

Tune Out the Chatter

By focusing on tasks, you learn to tune out the chatter going on all around you. Most of the chatter is negative, and a great majority is total conjecture – it may or may not even be the truth. I like to think of it as training yourself to hear it like the adults sound in the Peanuts cartoons – wha, wha-wha, what, what-wha, wha — you can learn to tune out the chatter, and that is all you will hear.

I want you to hear more than anything that you can shake this off! You have the power to shake off this dread and funk and break into a totally different mindset. If what you want has been done by someone else, then it is possible, and if it was possible for them, then it is absolutely possible for you. The question is not CAN you do it; the question is HOW you will go about doing it. Turn on the computer, start doing the work, pick up the phone, do the job, and keep doing the work until you achieve your desired results.

At the Growth Architect, we want to help you break through the past programming that keeps you defeated and in a funk and provide you with the strategies and tools to shift you into progress. That’s what we do! If you enjoyed this article, watch my video.

5 Strategies To Hire The Best People

Hiring the best people is one of the most important things you can do to grow, build, and scale your business, but you may not know the most effective steps to take to find the right people. Most employees are looking for more than a salary; they want to feel a sense of belonging and the opportunity to contribute to a larger cause. By learning to reverse engineer your hiring process, you can find the right candidates to grow your organization.

Know Your Value Proposition

Before you can ever effectively hire a single person, you must know your unique value proposition – why should they want to work for you? To compete with larger companies that can toss out money and benefits to people, you need to know what makes you different and your attraction factor. What does your company have to offer that would make someone want to get on board with you? Your unique value proposition is critical to attracting the best candidates to your company because they must want to work with you; give them great reasons.

Understand Your Culture

Culture is king. If you have not taken the time to understand your culture and be able to talk about what it is like to work in your company, now is the time to learn how to articulate your culture to a potential hire. Anyone interested in working for you wants to know what you value and how they will fit within your culture before committing to becoming part of your team. Take the time to build your culture and understand how to describe it to others accurately; this is never wasted time.

Know What You Can Automate

Once you have established your value proposition and you can describe your culture, it is time to work with a strategist, like us, to analyze your company and entire workflow and look for areas you can automate. You never need to hire anyone for a task that you can automate. Using project management software will provide you with multiple tools, which are cheaper and more reliable than hiring people to do the work manually; once you have it up and running, it is much less work for you.

Outsource Before Hiring

You always want to outsource before you make a hire. Outsourcing allows you to find subject matter experts from all over the world that can perform tasks at the lowest cost and the highest quality. With automation in place first, you have the proper system that makes your work accessible to teams around the globe. For instance, in my company, we work with people from all over the United States and other countries like India and the Philippines. We can do this because we spent time on the front end building the systems and automating our processes. Outsourcing is a win-win for your business because it allows you to access the best and brightest talent and save money while giving you the ability to scale much, much larger.

Hire Your Ideal Candidate

Once you have completed these four steps, you are ready to begin hiring your ideal candidate. This is where clarity in what you have to offer becomes vital to the process; what do you offer that makes you irresistible to those looking for work? Describe your culture and what a career map looks like for them when they join your team, including everything they can learn and what they will be doing within your company. Now you have painted a picture for your candidates so they can clearly see how they fit in your organization, why you need them, and how they can benefit from working with you.

Your offer is about more than salary – you may encounter prospects that are looking for the most money, but hiring is not always about money. Multiple studies show that when attracting great employees, many are not out looking for the most money. They are searching for a good salary that fairly compensates for their work, but they are looking for more than that; they are looking for fulfillment and a sense of belonging. By learning to reverse engineer your hiring process, the pre-hiring steps will lead you to find the best people for your job and the ideal candidate that will truly become part of your team.

At the Growth Architect, I want to give you the tools you need to put a fantastic team in place to help you reach your goals. By learning the steps to hire the best people, you can eliminate the guesswork of attracting and hiring great candidates for your company. How To Stay Focused and Positive

There are times for all of us when life seems to consistently come in hard, creating overwhelming feelings of anxiety and nervousness. When you reach a point where you just can handle one more piece of bad news, it is time to become more centered and committed to a successful mindset.

No One is Immune to Tough Times

When life happens at this break-neck pace and multiple waves of stress seem to keep coming and coming, it can cause you to feel like you are the only person experiencing “bad luck.” You are not. In my case, my daughter was getting married; I got COVID right before she got married and FINALLY tested negative the night before I left for the wedding. Right before this, I had broken my arm and had a trip to visit family in Germany – so much was happening in my world – all at once.

No one is immune to tough times. The truth is, everyone is still reeling from the changes created by the pandemic, talk of recession, changes in jobs, layoffs beginning again – It is too much to digest. When our brains encounter this anxious overload, it can cause us to want to shut down, but you can learn to stay focused and positive in hard times.

Develop A Mindset of Curiosity

The first thing you must do in challenging times is to shift your mindset to one that embodies curiosity. When you can step out of a judgmental mindset that wonders why things are happening to you and into a mindset of curiosity, you can learn to reflect. A perspective of curiosity looks at the situations through the lens of wonder and interest in your reaction to the event. Why is this causing such an intense reaction? Why are you reacting this way?

Curiosity allows you to look at your reaction – not why it is happening in general, but what about this situation is causing such an intense, emotional connection and response. When you learn to take the focus off of “why me” and shift it to “what can I learn from this,” you can begin to view your issues as opportunities to grow and learn.

Resist the Noise

In times of trouble, it is essential to double down on focus. When negative energy is around, it is so easy to get sidetracked into listening to bits and pieces of information going on around you and get caught up in the wake of this negativity. When you find yourself amid negative noise, it is time to begin a business-oriented task and stay 100% focused on this task all the way to completion. Focus on what you set out to do, and resist the temptation to stop in the middle and do something else – have the discipline to finish what you start.

At the Growth Architect, we want to help you find strategies that will help you develop a positive mindset, learn to shut out the negative noise around you, and improve your focus on what matters to increase your productivity and multiply your results. That’s what we do! If you enjoyed this article, watch my video, How To Stay Focused and Positive.

5 Steps To Follow To Scale Your Business

If you are working to scale your business, you can eliminate confusion and chaos by following a step-by-step process. Using my 5-Star Success Blueprint, you can build your business systematically and have all the elements needed to scale your business successfully. My overview of these five steps will allow you to understand where you are currently and the areas to work on to continue to scale your business.

Perfect Your Idea

If you want to scale your business, it is impossible to do anything until you have perfected the first step – your idea. Before you can sell or provide any service, you must understand what makes you unique and how what you provide differs from other things your audience has to choose from. When honing in on your idea, the best place to start is to know who you are selling to and how what you have to offer can solve their problem. You need to begin by asking yourself — What problem do I solve, why would they want what I have, and why am I the right person to sell it to them? Once your idea is perfected, you are ready to advance along the continuum.

Streamline Your Offer

When you know who you are selling to and the problem you are solving, you can move into step two, making the offer. What you offer and how you offer it directly relate to the person you are trying to reach and the problem you are trying to solve. This is where you can streamline your offer with a value-based proposition, packaging and bundling offers, and specific services. I always recommend checking out your competitors to ensure your offers are comparable to theirs. Finding the right price point is critical for success in your offer.

 Build Your System

You are ready to begin building your systems when the idea and offer are set. These systems could be project management, your CRM, lead generation, etc. – whatever you determine is needed to grow your business. Without an understanding of your system, it will be impossible to hire and manage your business effectively because your methods will become scattered and inefficient. You cannot possibly know who you need on your team without knowing what your systems require.

Hire Your Team

With these three pieces in place, it is time to hire your team. Because you have all the other elements in place, you can be exceptionally clear on the people you need in your business to ensure the systems are running, offers are converting to sales, and customers are served. People often hire before they have the other steps in place, stifling productivity because the steps actually need to be reverse engineered for success.

Focus on The Leader

Lastly, as a leader, it is critical to self-reflect and assess your role in the business. If you are constantly in the weeds and overwhelmed – busy doing stuff, stuff, stuff, and stressed out, it becomes impossible to lead effectively. When we look at optimal growth alignment in our growth architecture, we ask leaders the tough questions – Are you leading, or are you still trying to do everything yourself? Are you making every sales call? Are you doing all the outreach and still trying to manage your website? The answers to these questions matter because they reveal your level of trust with your team and allow you to assess areas you can release and find time to lead your business.

At the Growth Architect, my goal is to help you develop a business strategy that will give you the tools you need for success in building your business.
