First Line Friday – Demon Restrained

AWWWW! Two years ago, I released Demon Restrained into the wild. My dirty demon in the basement is a favorite of mine. It was the first book I wrote and I adore Bas and Evie. So… let’s go back to where it all began…

She was there again.

Even through the muddy haze of magic that trapped him in this hell-spawned plane, Bas could feel her hovering near the door. He couldn’t see her—she was very careful not to reveal herself to him—but he could taste the ripples of her passage as she edged down the stairs.

She was quiet, he would give her that. She crept along the borders of the room, hidden by the boxes and piles of junk, the tall metal shelving, the dirt that lay everywhere. In all her visits to this underground prison, he had yet to catch her scent—surprising considering he could smell better than most werewolves—and he felt only the faint echo of movement as she displaced air and energy in her slow walk to the place she would settle into.

She stumbled, the sound loud in the silence, and Bas’s head swung around, tracking her.

A throb of fear swept through the room. True fear. Terror. And it wasn’t directed at him. He thought she might be holding her breath; the vibrations had changed, gone as still as deep water.

The Girl Most Likely is coming soon!

I’m working on the final formatting for The Girl Most Likely this week. I hope to have it up before the long weekend (long for me, at least) so everyone can meet Lane and Matty.

(I’m barely even going to mention the new series idea I’m working on. Ghosts, zombies, and …uhh, I don’t know how to describe the rest. Let’s just say the premise of each book amuses me greatly and I can’t wait to get started on them!)

First Line Friday – Stronghold

Today’s First Line Friday is from a VERY unedited version of Stronghold (Stronghold #4)…

In theory, they had a good plan.

Get out. Get safe. Live as long as they could.

Sure, they’d be tucked away in the mountains somewhere and they’d have no one but themselves to rely on, but this plan had the potential to keep them alive.

Given everything that had happened in the past week, anything that kept them on this side of living was good.

So in theory, they had a good plan. Reality made that plan a little stickier.

Today’s First Line Friday is from Cursed Wolves (Grimwood #2) which is my August release.

Connor could tell by the prickle on the back of his neck that his stalker had returned.

The feeling of being watched had started nearly two months ago. Two long months of having his daily movements dissected and studied. He didn’t like it.

First Line Friday – The Girl Most Likely

I’m starting a new thing here at KellyApple.com. This isn’t necessarily a NEW thing, but it’s new to me. Every Friday, I’m going to feature the first line (or two or three) from one of my upcoming releases. Some have been edited, some haven’t. Meaning this isn’t always the final product and lines are subject to change. A few of my writing cohorts will be joining me, so there’s sure to be FUN FOR EVERYONE!

First up: The Girl Most Likely (Anderson High Wolves #2) – September release

Lane Tennyson hated high school.

She hated being the one everybody whispered about as she walked down the halls. She hated when her classmates saw her scrounging through the garbage for cans. She hated how the teachers gave her pitying looks and told her it would get better.

She hated that she had a two mile walk up to the trailer park she lived in with her mom. She hated trudging up the road in her ratty jeans and shoes with the floppy sole while everybody else zipped past in cars.

The thing she hated most, though, was how she was both invisible and the center of attention.

Since I’m far enough ahead with my writing that I can map out a fairly solid release schedule for the next few months, I’m going to put it out here so I have a reason to stick to it. Because, honestly, sometimes shiny new ideas sneak in and I end up writing an entire series when I really should be writing book 2 in a different series.

So. I’m not going to go so far as to put hard dates, but I can tell you that Cursed Wolves (Grimwood #2) will be coming out in August. (which means I need to get on the ball and finalize the cover!)

October is my tricky month. Since my birthday’s in October, I want to celebrate in some way, shape, or form. Which probably means I’ll slide two releases in that month. Operation Merman (Monstrous Matchmaker #3) and All the Reasons Why (Anderson High Wolves #3). Probably in that order. I think.
