Looking Back on June

Looking Back on June at KellyApple.com

Oh, hey. June. Sorry to see you go. I guess. I mean, you were here, now you’re not. Time is weird.

Anywho. June. Not a lot done on the surface to report (no releases or whatnot), however, I do have edits back on the next several parts of Heart of Stone (which my editor is probably laughing at because, yes, I have them back, but no I haven’t tackled them yet.) (Not going to lie, 2020 is kicking my ass six ways to Sunday and I’ve just decided to accept that things are a little off kilter and not fret about it.).

(As another aside, I have TASKS I’ve set out for myself with one of my accountability friends and, GOSH DARN IT, I am going to get part 5 of this book out in July! Well, provided I get my cover situation resolved, which is totally on my accountability list of things to do. So…YAY!)

I’ll freely admit I sound like a broken record at this point. I have the rest of this book written, but there’s not a whole lot of progress with the other things that need to get done before it gets released. I’m sorry! So sorry. I want to get this book out in its entirety because it’s one I really REALLY like and yet the release side of things is excruciatingly slow going.

Bear with me a little longer. I have goals. I’m going to try my hardest to meet them.

Until then…Remember the Series Shorts I used to post back in (OMG!) 2017 and 2018? THOSE ARE FUN! You should read them. (for no reason other than I have very fond memories of writing those little 1K scenes.)

Until next month!

Feature Friday – Future Perfect

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

This is one of those books that came about because I used to have a running debate with a friend (although it was probably a lot more one-sided than I’m remembering) about whether a threesome is really a threesome if two of the people involved are the same person.

BECAUSE TIME TRAVEL!

Yeah. Logan and Jenna have an interesting start to their relationship. And time-traveler Logan has A LOT of great moves to put on his now and future lady. (No worries, present Logan learns exactly what Jenna likes eventually. RAWR!)

(And since I don’t remind people of the bonus scenes often enough…) Did you know there’s a series short featuring these two sassy lovebirds? They get frisky at the office just to annoy the boss-man in Tension Relief.

Release Date: February 10, 2016

Pages: 44

Genre: Futuristic Erotica

Three years ago, Logan Harker quit his job and moved sight unseen to Pinnacle Point. With his cousins living there already, it seemed like a no-brainer.

Somewhere along the way, the no-brainer turned into a WTF?!? With one cousin now haunting the local hotel and the other a sex-crazed zombie, Logan’s wondering if it’s time to hang up his pocket protector and get out of Dodge. He’s all set to turn in his resignation when a new project crosses his desk. Unable to resist, Logan throws himself whole-heartedly into one last, mind-bendingly complex algorithm.

Given he’s planning on leaving, Logan doesn’t expect to see any results. When he comes face to face with a future version of himself it’s a shock. Finding out he’s a bona-fide sex machine in the future blows his mind. Having his future-self lure an intern into a threesome with him is beyond believable.

Faced with the incontrovertible truth of his perfect future self, Logan has to decide if leaving Pinnacle Point without exploring all the possibilities it has to offer is something he’s willing to do. Throwing away this potential future seems downright wrong to his mathematical mind.

And Logan is nothing if not thorough about his calculations.

Warning: This book contains a threesome. Kind of. I mean, is it really a threesome if two of the people are the same person? You’ll have to decide that on your own.

Feature Friday – Dead Sexy

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Okay. Let’s talk about the 2nd Pinnacle Point book and my sexy, dirty-talking zombie. Zane Harker. Zane ‘I wanna do bad, bad things to Maisie’ Harker.

Flat out, I wanted to write a sexy zombie book. Because, you know, by definition, zombies aren’t all that sexy.

But Zane is. He’s also trying to stay professional even though his latest body-guarding charge has awakened something in him. In his pants. Maisie awakened something in his pants and, honestly, Zane doesn’t know how to deal with it at first.

Because zombies aren’t supposed to get turned on, right?

WRONG.

Zane not only gets turned on by Maisie, he goes all in when the opportunity presents itself.

SEXY TIMES WITH A DEAD SEXY ZOMBIE! OH YEAH!

Heh. These Harkers were so darn fun to write.

Release Date: January 13, 2016

Genre: Monster Erotica, Paranormal Romance

When his ghostly cousin tells him there’s an open position at the PI firm where he works, Zane Harker jumps at the chance. There aren’t many places willing to hire a zombie and being dead hasn’t stopped the bills from piling up.

His new gig has a lot of perks, not the least of which is his current job guarding the delectable Maisie Banks after she receives death threats for her PR campaign to lure supernaturals to the small town of Pinnacle Point. The feisty brunette is a handful who spends her days arranging photo shoots of half-naked couples for her next PR push.

He might be a zombie, but spending day in and day out watching beautiful people make out for the camera reminds him his libido is alive and kicking. And Maisie doesn’t seem the least disgusted by his lack of a pulse. If anything, he thinks it makes her like him even more.

He might have a job to do, but no one said he couldn’t enjoy himself while doing it.

Warning: This book contains a zombie. Not a gross one. A gorgeous one. And just because he doesn’t have a properly beating heart doesn’t mean he can’t perform admirably. Maisie certainly doesn’t have any complaints.

Feature Friday – Ghost of a Chance

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Hoo-boy. Let me tell you the story about how the Harker cousins came into being. (I’ve probably told this story before, but I’m going to tell it again anyway. Because I can and it amuses me.)

Pinnacle Point started as part of a shared world set of stories with one of my author friends. Unconnected to that, at one point, I told said author friend that I wanted to write a story called Ghost of a Chance about a ghost named Chance.

So the two of us sat down and hammered out a rough outline of the world and then released each other into the wild to write in it. The shared world ultimately fell through (as sometimes happens), but I had a story about a horny ghost written and a couple other ideas brewing in the back of my head (sexy zombies! weird threesomes!) and I went ahead with writing those.

The only real holdover from the shared world is (a) the name of the town (Pinnacle Point!) and (b) the supernatural sex study. Everything else was pure Harker magic.

So here’s Chance. A ghost. Who likes donuts and ladies who aren’t afraid of dead guys.

Harkers! FTW!

Genre: Monster Erotica, Paranormal Romance

When he was alive, Chance Harker was stuck in a boring job and a relationship that was going nowhere. Now that he’s dead, a whole new world has opened up for him.

He has a challenging job with a PI firm, his run of a swank hotel, and plenty of interesting people to keep an eye on. The only thing missing from his afterlife is great sex. Hell, he’d settle for mediocre sex at this point. Any sex at all, in fact.

Finding out the research facility run by Pinnacle Point Pharms is looking for those with strange and unusual sexual issues, Chance decides to check it out. Because if a sex clinic with supernatural ties can’t help him get a little nookie, he’ll have to resign himself to an eternity of unfulfilled desires.

And no self-respecting ghost wants that.

Warning: This book contains a horny ghost who tends to go invisible at the worst possible moment, a woman with exceptional flexibility, and a box of powdered donuts. The break room will never be the same again.

Looking Back on May

Looking Back on May at KellyApple.com

Oh, heyyyyy. We made it through another month.

While there were no books released for me in May, I would like to say that (a) Heart of Stone parts 5-8 are contracted with my editor (OMG!) and (b), after a bit of a dry spell writing-wise, I’m working on something…different. Since I tend to jinx myself if I say too much early in the writing process, I’m only going to say that it’s fun and ridiculous and exactly what I personally need right now with everything going on in the world.

What’s next? Well…I need to get some covers for the last half of Heart of Stone going. I normally make my own covers, but 2020 has been a rough year creatively for me and that includes artistically as well as writing.

(and for the person who requested a printable book list for all my related monster series, I’m working on that too. Like, 2020 just sucked the brain right out of my head and I’ve had a hard time finding my groove again.)

Despite how this post might read, I really do think June (and beyond) are going to pick up for me. I’m writing something I’m getting a kick out of and I have the second half of my hunky gargoyle book heading in the right direction (and I honestly LOVE where Vane and Cin’s book takes them, so YESSSS!).

Here’s to a bright June!

Feature Friday – Cursed Heart

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Ahh, yes. The final piece of the Grimm story. Lorianne Grimm, the woman who unknowingly set the Grimwood curse in motion, finally gets her happily ever after.

Lorianne and Alistair’s story is my Sleeping Beauty retelling. Alistair’s been trapped in an enchanted sleep for the past 500 years and, when Lorianne finds out, she’s not about to let it continue. That’s her man in that tower and she’ll do whatever she needs to do to save him.

Endings are always bittersweet for me, but I really enjoyed getting to revisit the previous couples in the Grimwood series and reunite the Grimm family. Bringing them all together, along with a few of Fen’s descendants, felt appropriate given how much the family had suffered through the years.

In the end, all the Grimms get their happily ever after and Grimwood gets to become the enchanted wood it used to be.

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale

Lorianne Grimm is a woman broken. Her children lost through thievery and curses, she retreated to the woods to grieve. Finally coming to terms with her loss, she emerged and was dealt one last blow… her husband had disappeared and she, herself, had been cursed to remain eternally young.

Unable to face her pain, Lorianne once again fled into the heart of the woods and tried for five hundred years to forget.

But lately there have been whispers on the wind that speak of great change within Grimwood. Magic is coming back to life and for it to properly take root Lorianne will have to take her place in the tale.

Hidden deep in Grimwood is a castle. The stories say only those with the purest heart will be able to find it and navigate the treacherous path inside. With all the hatred churning within her for what was done to her family, Lorianne hardly considers herself pure. But the whispers tell of one last thing, a Grimm who was cursed into an enchanted sleep nearly five hundred years ago after losing his family. A Grimm who only waits for his lady love to awaken him.

For the chance to be with her husband again, Lorianne will follow her heart and risk everything. Including her life.

Feature Friday – Cursed Lives

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

GRETCHEN AND FEN!

MAN, I liked writing these two.

Fen’s the snarly loner who hides a boatload of hurt at how circumstances (and those pesky curses) have treated him. He’s sort of reached that point where he’d rather ignore the world than be deserted by yet another person he loves. (To be fair, a lot of those who did the leaving didn’t do so because they wanted to. Curses, man, they’re cruel beasts.)

Gretchen, on the other hand, is carefree and alive in a way Fen can hardly wrap his head around. And she won’t.leave.him.alone.

Yeah, the guy never stood a chance. From the moment she stumbled over his cabin in the woods, he found himself being reluctantly dragged back into living.

And that is an EXCELLENT thing considering his needs to fulfill his part as a Grimm in order to banish the curse.

Release Date: February 3, 2018

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale

Growing up wild in Grimwood, Gretchen Malloy knows her corner of the woods like the back of her hand. Stumbling over a previously undiscovered cabin to explore is the highlight of her lazy summer days.

Only, the cabin she found isn’t empty and the brooding, angry man who chases her away is almost too much excitement for her tastes. For all she might not be wanted, Gretchen’s terminal curiosity sends her back again and again until an unexpected friendship blossoms.

Fen Grimm knows exactly what he is—the crusty old loner who’s given up on the world outside his cabin and who wants nothing to do with Grimwood or any of its many inhabitants. He’s already loved and lost enough and he has no need to watch another mortal age and die before his eyes.

If only Grimwood didn’t need him, he’d be content to live out the rest of his long days alone. But when the magic in the wood calls, a Grimm must answer.

Looking Back on April

I…don’t know what happened to April. March crawled by and April didn’t even paused as it breezed past. What’s that about?

That’s weird and everything, but I do get to point out that I actually released a book in April. A BOOK. I know. I’m a little shocked, too.

That said, Stone’s End, Heart of Stone 4, is out now and it’s as road trippy as a road trip book can get. THERE’S A GHOST TOWN IN IT. A GHOST TOWN.

Glorious!

I’m still planning on updating the Heart of Stone covers, btw, but that’s taken a serious backseat to, well, everything lately. Yes, I’m a hot mess. I accept it about myself and don’t let it get me down too much.

As for May…well, I have no idea what’s coming. I have parts 5-8 of HoS that need to be edited and have covers made, another completely unrelated book that’s edited, but needs a cover, and probably a few other projects I can’t think of right now. BECAUSE I HAVE SERIOUS QUARANTINE BRAIN.

Basically I’m saying: Let’s see what the future holds. Because I sure as heck don’t know.

Feature Friday – Cursed Touch

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Adria’s story! Adria’s a Grimm who was passed over in the curse department. Which sounds great because now she doesn’t have to to all wolfy when the moon is full, right? Yeaaaaaah. Well, it’s not great. Mostly because she’s been told the only reason she hasn’t been hit by the curse is because she stays out of the forest. She’s as trapped as Zel was, just her prison is the mountain she grew up on.

Micah gets…let’s say tossed. He gets tossed into her path and suddenly Adria’s world gets a whole lot bigger. A little adventure, a little romance, a little curse breaking.

Because, you know, just because the wolf curse passed her by doesn’t mean she doesn’t have to deal with that other pesky curse. The one that’s killing Grimwood slowly.

Mwahahahaha!

Anywho. Adria and Micah. Adventuring on the mountain. YES!

Release Date: December 27, 2016

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale

Adria Grimm lives at the highest point in Grimwood. The stories of what would befall her if she ever ventured down the mountain to the forest’s edge are cautionary tales she’s always lived by. Becoming a slave to the curse that hides in her blood isn’t the fate she dreams of for herself.

When an injured man collapses on her doorstep, Adria reluctantly nurses him back to health. The man is aggravating and demanding and Adria can’t wait until he’s well enough to be on his way.

Waking with little memory of what brought him to the mountains, Micah Redfield has to piece his past together before he can complete the quest that drove him to this remote location. As it turns out, Adria has the answers he’s been looking for, but deciphering the clues she’s been left is only the beginning of their journey.

Working together, they will have to find a way to unlock the ancient magic hidden in the heart of the mountain before Grimwood itself falls.
