Feature Friday – Cursed Bones

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Ahh…Isobel’s story. The Grimm twin who wasn’t stolen by the witch, she ends up a wee bit spoiled by her fearful mama and papa. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work out too well for her since her actions led to the curse that sent her scurrying to the Grimm country home.

Let’s just say Isobel doesn’t do well all alone in the big house. In fact, she’s a little nutty when we first meet her. Cade’s patience and understanding help bring her back to herself and the rest, as they say, is history. Or magic. Whichever.

Cursed Bones is my Beauty and the Beast retelling and, BOY, did I have fun writing slightly feral Isobel skulking around her abandoned manor. Crazy ladies getting tamed by their one true love. GOOD STUFF!

Once upon a time, Isobel Grimm had been the favored daughter of one of the oldest families in Grimwood. Prideful, arrogant, and vain, she found out the hard way that not all those she saw as beneath her are weak. Fleeing to her family manor hidden in the depths of the great forest seemed her only option when a powerful curse stole her looks and made her a monster in the eyes of most.

When an intruder invades her sanctuary, Isobel is forced to face some painful truths—she’s lived in solitude far longer than she realized and her problems are only the precursor for something far more deadly. For the trees in the forest are dying, stricken by a mysterious disease rotting them slowly from the inside.

In the manor hidden away from prying eyes, a pact has fallen and the entire forest is paying the price. As a Grimm, it’s Isobel’s duty to right this wrong and reverse the curse spreading across the land.

If she can’t, all of Grimwood may fall.

Out Now: Stone’s End

I can hardly believe I’m going to say this, but… Stone’s End, Heart of Stone #4, is FINALLY AVAILABLE.

(I say that like something was holding this release up. It was me, guys. It was me holding it up. I wanted to change up the covers for the entire series {which I never managed to do} and then life happened {is still happening, if we’re going to get technical} and time SERIOUSLY slipped away from me. So this several month gap between installments is ALL MY DOING. Sorry.)

To celebrate this long-awaited release, I’ve put the first 3 installments of Heart of Stone on sale. That’s right ALL INSTALLMENTS ARE CURRENTLY A MERE NINETY-NINE PENNIES. And if you have Kindle Unlimited? They’re free to read. In fact, ALL the Monstrous and Monstrous-adjacent books (Forgotten Monsters, Pinnacle Point) are free to read in Kindle Unlimited. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.

So. My pledge to you is that the next installment (part FIVE! Things are getting crazy!) won’t take nearly as long to come out. PROMISE.

Release Date: April 8, 2020

Genre: Monster Erotica, Paranormal Romance

The first destination on their road trip has been achieved, but it’s not the place Vane and Cin ultimately need to be.

So what does a grumbly gargoyle and his sweet human mate do when the road calls them onward? They listen to the call and head out.

Ending up in a ghost town is kind of neat. Finding Vane’s lost brother is even neater. Meeting something old and powerful in this lost place is sort of the cherry on top.

That’s right…things are happening, brothers are reuniting, and decisions are being made. When the old gods wake, change is in the air.

Warning: This book contains a (mostly) abandoned ghost town and a gargoyle who’s only slightly less surly than his brother. Family, man. You gotta love ‘em.

Feature Friday – Cursed Wolves

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

We’re back in Grimwood partying with those Grimms.

Meh. Maybe partying isn’t the word I’m looking for. The Grimms are there, generally clueless about what they need to do to get the woods back to peak performance, and things aren’t looking great.

BUT…we do get introduced to the cursed wolves in this installment. Frankly, being a Grimm who is cursed to become a wolf kind of sucks. At least for Lucy.

Lucy Grimm is a mess when we meet her. She’s struggling with her new reality and she’s terrified she’s going to hurt someone when she goes wolf. Connor, on the other hand, just flat-out likes twitchy Lucy and does what he has to do to convince her to stay with him.

Grimwood, man. Weird shit happens here.

Release Date: August 16, 2015

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale

Lucy Grimm knows what it’s like to be on the outside. Ever since her curse kicked in on her 18th birthday, she’s lived in the woods on her own, cut off from everyone but the other cursed and slave to the cycles of the moon. Her one joy in life is spying on hunky Connor Redfield while he works at his grandmother’s inn.

Connor knows someone’s out there watching him, but he can never get close enough to catch them in the act. When he decides to take matters into his own hands and lay down a trap for the peeping tom, he doesn’t expect to end up with a bundle of nervous woman who runs every chance she gets.

He certainly doesn’t believe she’s one of the legendary cursed wolves that roam the woods.

For all that she’s fighting against herself, Lucy can’t help but like the burly lumberjack with a heart of gold. With the moon coming up on full, Lucy doesn’t dare trust herself when her wolf takes control. But Connor remains unconvinced and the more time Lucy spends with him, the more she longs to stay.

Can a cursed wolf find love with a mortal man? Or will her beastly side destroy her heart’s desire?

Looking back on March

Looking Back on March at KellyApple.com

You know how I’m usually all “WOW LAST MONTH WENT BY FAST”? WELL MARCH DID NOT GO BY QUICKLY. IT WAS INTERMINABLY LONG. SO LONG. AN EPOCH! AN ERA! IT WAS SO SO SO LONG AND I GOT NOTHING DONE!

Okay, that might be a teeny lie. I got a few things done.

That’s right! I got the formatting for Heart of Stone 4 complete. OMG! Now I’m just finalizing the cover and that bad boy will be released into the wild. (I really like this installment, too. REALLY!) Keep an eye out for that announcement coming soon. SOON.

The world is crazy right now, so please be safe and stay healthy.

Feature Friday – Cursed Blood

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Welcome to Grimwood!

Sure, sure. It’s a little dangerous and you’ve got curses running wild and the forest is dying and things are a little shady, but WELCOME ANYWAY!

At the heart of all this craziness is the Grimm family. One tiny wish turned into a clusterfuck of epic proportions when the witch in the woods comes for payment. Five hundred years later, the Grimm family is scattered, the woods are rotting from within, and the legacy the family was supposed to uphold has all but been forgotten.

WHEW!

Yeah, the Grimms are a little messed up, but they find their way. Eventually. Cursed Blood focuses on Zel, the silent giant in the tower, who inadvertently takes the first steps in breaking the curse when he challenges the witch holding him captive and hooks up with his new boo.

Okay, that’s not exactly how it happened, but it’s pretty close.

Pretty darn close.

Enjoy this gender-flipped retelling of Rapunzel and your first steps into Grimwood.

Zel has lived his entire life within the confines of a square mile of the forest. The tower is his refuge. The witch, his captor. Forced to do her bidding, he dreams of a day when he can leave the cursed place and be free.

But fate has other plans and freedom can take many guises.

As a girl, Geneva devoured stories about the wild boy who lived at the highest point in the forest. A changeling, a prince, a forest spirit—all the tales tell a different story. Imagine her surprise when she stumbles across the cursed tower and the young man held prisoner there.

It’ll take all her cunning and courage to free him.

What she doesn’t know is that freeing him might doom them all.

An update and some plans

I kept reminding myself I need to blog, but my focus is so scattered (SERIOUSLY) that I…haven’t. Frankly, things in the world keep changing at such breakneck speed that I feel like I’m scrambling to keep up. Blogging (and writing in general) have taken a backseat to trying to figure out how to stay safe and healthy in these crazy times.

But here I am. Because I am both safe and healthy and my day job keeps powering on so I have plenty to keep me occupied when I finally do wrangle my brain into a modicum of focus. I’m lucky in that regard since my day job was easy to transition into 100% work from home (I was about 50% prior to this with plans for me to be fully remote in the future. Which is now. The future is now.) and I’m now homebound with my kiddo, my pets, and my mom.

But enough about me. No, wait. There’s more about me. My goal for the next week (before the end of the month), is to get Heart of Stone part 4 out. I’ve been planning this for MONTHS (OMG, SERIOUSLY!) and I’m going to get it done. DANGIT.

It doesn’t feel like much and maybe I should have just done it instead of blogging about it, but with my scattered focus and general inability to get anything done over the last few weeks I figured announcing my intentions might actually motivate me to do it instead of sitting around and binge-watching another NetFlix show (or the Star Wars movies for the bazillionth time).

(FYI, I’m a hardcore Reylo shipper and will happily share my dedicated Reylo board with anyone who needs some snarly Kylo Ren/beautiful Ben Solo and Rey gifs. *fluttery lashes*)

(Seriously. REYLO FOR-EVAH!)

The long and short of this is…keep an eye out for the release announcement. It’s coming. I SWEAR!

P.S. I had a request for a printable list of the Monstrous books and the related interconnected books and it’s coming! That lack of focus thing means it’s one of my in-progress items at the moment, but it is something I’m working on and I’ll get it out soon. I SWEAR!

Feature Friday – Anderson High Wolves: The Complete Novella Collection

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

(It’s going to be short and sweet today, but…)

Did you know The Complete Novella Collection includes bonus scenes with those crazy wolves of Anderson High?

It’s true! You can dive into a little more Jenny, Evan, and the rest of the gang AND get to see the original stories about how the three couples met and became mated while still in high school.

Anderson High Wolves... Three complete novellas plus never-before-published bonus scenes

BOOK 1: BURIED BODIES

Jenny Reynolds may be a mere human, but her life is anything but ordinary.

She’s juggling her senior year of high school, a sick mom, a brother who depends on her, and, oh yeah, there’s the matter of a body in the trunk of her car. As if that isn’t enough, the werewolf quarterback of her high school’s all-shifter football team has started sniffing around.

What’s a girl to do when the most beautiful boy in school wants to help her out of her jam? If she’s smart, she takes him up on the offer…

BOOK 2: THE GIRL MOST LIKELY

Lane Tennyson’s greatest wish is to finish out her senior year and disappear into the big city where no one will know her name. Because this town won’t let the girl voted Most Likely to Commit Arson (again) escape her past even though she’s grown up since then and moved on.

Matthias Bridges is content with his place in life. As the second in command to a future alpha, he can see his path laid out for him and it’s a bright one. The only dark spot is the way the girl who intrigues his wolf avoids him like the plague.

So what if she once set a local trailer park on fire? Accidents happen and Lane has grown from a gangly, angry girl into a beautiful, sweet young woman.

Finding out she has every intention of leaving and never coming back after graduation is unacceptable.

Because when a wolf finds his mate, there are no limits to what he’ll do to keep her.

BOOK 3: ALL THE REASONS WHY

Natalie Lombard didn’t set out to be the queen bitch of Anderson High, but that’s what she is. She also never planned on letting everybody know how badly she wants a werewolf football player in her life, but it’s the worst kept secret at school.

What they don’t know is Natalie needs protection and the only ones she thinks stand a chance against her worst nightmare are the wolves.

Mason Armstrong held his tongue as Natalie dated her way through the team. He wants her to want him, not settle for the biggest, quietest wolf in the pack because he’s the only one who will have her.

Finding out what drives her serial dating makes his wolf see red.

But figuring out how to fix her problem is only the beginning. Once her issues get taken care of, will she even want a wolf?

Looking back on February…

February’s always such a weird month for me. January tends to drag every year and then February swoops in and out so fast I hardly have a handle on it before it’s March.

I wish I could say this is because I’m SO BUSY time just flies, but…I’m not really crazy busy at the moment. Or, not busy in the ways I think I should be, I guess.

I didn’t do much writing last month, which kinda sucks, but I do have some solid plans for what’s coming up in the future. Ehh, solid-ish. I know what I want to do, I just need to get my butt in gear and do it.

So, solid-ish plans.

(And, yes, releasing the rest of Heart of Stone is at the top of those plans. I SWEAR!)

As a reminder, The Wicked Woods and The Wicked Wolf are still free (through today – TUESDAY), so grab ’em while they’re hot! FYI, if you missed the initial announcement about the freebies, my Instagram account is where I tend to shout about those sorts of things the loudest. So, you know, follow me there. You not only get reminders about freebies and such, you get to see what I’m reading pretty much on a daily basis and that’s ALWAYS fun!

Until next month!

Feature Friday – All the Reasons Why

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Happy Valentine’s! What better way to celebrate love than to take a look at the big, brawny, quiet enforcer who falls hard for Anderson High’s resident mean girl.

Mason and Natalie!

No joke, I liked writing these two. Mason is big, quiet, and utterly confident in himself. Natalie is a little desperate, a lot bitchy, and blind to the one person who’s right in front of her who can help her in exactly the way she needs.

The fact these two are WEIRDLY perfect for one another just makes it all the better.

The quiet enforcer and the Queen Bitch of Anderson High. LOVE IS IN THE AIR!
